Ben was excited.

Opening the system store, he searched for a while until he found what he was looking for.

[Ticket to awaken the affinity most compatible with the user.]

Ben bought it immediately, it was an offer he couldn't miss. There were more than 20 registered affinities so far. Elemental mages could only awaken the most basic elements such as: water, wind, earth, fire and some hybrid elements such as ice and lightning.

But with the compatible affinity coupon, he could awaken any element with the only premise being the one he was most compatible with.

Ben decided to take a chance, he had enough points to buy any of the basic elements.

But he had that need, that ambition... That greed to be someone special.

He used the coupon immediately and felt his vision darken as an infinity of bad thoughts and emotions crossed him.

Ben felt heavy and energyless. His black hair seemed to acquire a slightly darker tint and his presence became a bit more intimidating with tendrils of darkness coming out of his body.

[Cursed element awakened.]

Ben's eyes adjusted to the darkness and he smiled when he saw the notification that appeared in his vision.

Cursed element!

He had never heard of such an element or knew what kind of magic it handled.

But he was happy not to waste the coupon to awaken a basic element. He would figure out what his affinity was good for, but for now he had to do something else.

Ben also bought it without hesitation, he had to have an element to use without revealing his cursed element. As he didn't want a basic element, he chose the hybrids that were acclaimed as the strongest among the basic elements.

Ben felt a current running through his entire body, filling him with energy.

Ben clenched both fists and felt the power coursing through his body. In his left fist, black spots of negative energy emerged, while in his right hand some small sparks appeared.

Just a few seconds later he felt tired as if he had run several laps around a soccer field.

Ben looked at his status.

He had spent all his magic on his simple manipulation.

0.2 was what he had in magic, which was obviously an insignificant amount when it came to casting a spell.

Ben sat down exhausted on the bed and began to meditate with short and irregular breaths before changing to deeper and slower ones. Soon his mind was blank.

He had always been able to reach this phase, but what came after was the place he had never been able to access due to his lack of affinity.

The blank space changed a bit and two orbs appeared floating. One was grayish black and the other was blueish silver.

Ben focused on the blue orb and tried to perceive his surroundings. Starlight came in through his window and small particles circulated around him.

Ben wished that they would enter his body, but they remained the same, not obeying his commands. After more than an hour, Ben felt that some particles entered his body and he guided them in the direction of his head and there to the blue orb.

The particles entered the orb and began to form the outline of a star.

¡Uffff!

Ben let out a long sigh that he had been holding in for a while.

His mind felt heavy, disoriented and sleepy.

An entire hour of work for just a few star particles.

With an approximate estimate, Ben felt he could form his first star in about 30 to 40 days.

A speed very similar to Becca's.

As he understood from school, in order to reach the elemental mage stage, a person had to form 10 stars in their consciousness.

The affinity was just a way to enter the mage world. The speed at which you collect star particles and advance is how you measure a person's talent.

It's no use having a super affinity like space if you're going to take 10 years to enter the elemental mage stage.

Ben had already expected his talent to be low when he couldn't awaken his affinity in a normal way.

So looking at the evil points he had left...

Ben pressed the + sign and felt a small current in his finger before it ran through his entire body.

In his consciousness, the outline of the star was completed and it didn't stop there.

The star was fully formed and quickly filled with energy.

In a matter of seconds, a star that would take more than a month to form appeared in his consciousness in less than a second.

Ben jumped excitedly and full of energy.

¡¡This is cheating!!

While others strive for years... He could easily gain power.

He already had the idea in his head, but only now did he realize how ridiculous and incredible the idea was.

Ben did somersaults in bed with a smile of excitement, petal, danced and threw punches at the air for a while before calming down a bit and excitedly went back to leveling up his element.

The current invaded his body again and made him jump with excitement.

Just like last time, the star formed in a matter of seconds.

(Author's thoughts)

Do not read if you do not want to, it is not necessary for the story or plot.

I apologize for not being able to update for two days.

But in my country, December 7th and 8th are very special and celebrated dates.

Family gathers, they celebrate, they light little candles. They eat, walk, have fun and so on.

I couldn't say no to that when they already consider me strange enough.

It's a very close-minded family.

They think I'm weird for reading books. Because I love watching movies and series.

Because my idea of fun is not to drink alcohol until I forget what happened the day before and laugh about it.

I like to travel and visit places, see beautiful landscapes and maybe share with friends but something like going out to play or a barbecue. Going to the movies.

Even my musical tastes are fundamentally different from theirs.

For them, if my tastes and ways of having fun are not the same as theirs.

I am the weird one.

I wasted my life.

Besides... I adore Christmas and I feel happy and nostalgic celebrating all this month besides the fact that in a few days I also have a birthday.

I am trying to change a defect of mine... Self-discipline.

I have written stories that I have not finished but that I do want to finish. I just lose motivation to keep writing.

That's why I've set myself the goal of updating a chapter daily. I don't want to write many chapters daily to avoid losing motivation, just consistently one a day until it becomes a routine.

I'm doing it with Duolingo and I think it works, after all, I had never reached this record of days.
