One of his men was waiting for her at the parking area and she got in silently, musing over the events that had taken place during the last few hours.
She hadn't seen him walk out of the university since the last time she saw him with his hand bloodied and now, regret was slowly taking over, her heart aching in her chest as the engine roared to life.
'Why didn't you let me do it?'
Why would he want to do it?
Conflicting emotions churned inside her. On one hand, she felt a twisted sense of satisfaction from witnessing Jack suffer the consequences of his actions.
He had hurt her, and in that moment, she reveled in the justice served by the curse's brutal retaliation. It was a purging release, a small taste of the revenge she had craved for so long.
But on the other hand, the aftermath of the encounter with Zei had left her feeling unsettled and conflicted. The way he had confronted her, the fury in his eyes, and the violent outburst that followed had caught her off guard.
