Chapter 6 - Infirmary

I entered the canteen and immediately spotted Kylie and Chase sitting on a table for five at the PC. PC in the sense, the 'Popular Corner'. That's where only the popular kids of the school are allowed to sit. Another rule made by Lysha Evor herself.

They waved at me to join them. I waved back and made my way towards them.

"Did you get your card?" Chase asked.

"Sure did!" I smiled and sat in one of the chairs.

"So what clubs are you guys joining?" Chase asked.

"The fencing club obviously," Kylie said. Kylie was a first-class fencing champion. Wait how did I know that?

"I'll be joining the art club!" Chase said.

"I thought you were going to join the Club of Fools," Kylie added.

"Right, as if there's really a club like that," Chase rolled his eyes.

Kylie smirked.

"What about you Lysha?"

"I'll join the music club of course!" I said, cheerfully.

Kylie and Chase looked at each other and then at me.

"Something wrong?" I asked. Though I already knew it. They were the only ones who knew how horrible Lysha Evor was at singing.

"U-uh you'll get in nicely!" Chase exclaimed.

"Yeah you'll do great!" Kylie smiled giving me a thumbs up.

I sighed.

I looked around for Elliana. She was taking too long or was I just overthinking?

Then I spotted her near the food court. And in front of her was Diana and her minions with food trays on their hands.

Seriously? I stood up.

"Lysha, what's wrong?" Chase asked.

I stomped towards them trying to maintain my cool but it wasn't working.

That rich brat was about to throw the food on Elliana. I reached on time and threw the tray away as hard as I could.

Something sting on my hand but I ignored what it was.

"Diana, did you not get what I said? Enough is Enough!" I yelled.

"Right, then should you not forget that you were the one who did the same as me before didn't you?" Diana smirked.

Oh I wanted to slap her so bad! 'Cool down, Lysha.'

"Look I know what I did and I regret it. I regret everything. That's why this year I am trying my best to redeem myself from all my deeds. And I think you should do the same. And to be sure you were the one who was more ruthless than me, weren't you?" I said.

Her smirk vanished. That's it! I mentally smiled. Though Lysha was the one ordering her around but still most of the planning was all Diana's.

Diana just stomped out of the canteen. Typical Mean girls just like any other novel. I sighed and turned around to face Elliana.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I should be the one to ask that!" Elliana yelled, "Your hand!"

I looked at my hand. So that's why it sting after I threw the food tray! There was a cut at the back of my palm. It was bleeding but not too much to get to a stage of panicking.

"I am fine, it's just a scratch," I told her, trying to calm her down. How could I forget, Novel characters overreacted all the time!

Then I heard footsteps in the silence that followed after the whole drama. I glanced towards the sound. Arken was coming towards us.

Of course, he was coming to check if Elliana was okay. I sighed. I was about to step aside when my eyes widened. Arken took my hand and rushed out dragging me with him.

Um, did I do something wrong?

I wanted to ask but I don't know why I didn't. We stepped inside the infirmary.

"Sit," Arken said, pointing at the sick bed. I did as I was told. That was the first time Arken had spoken to me.

He reached up to a shelf above another sick bed and brought down a box. A first-aid box?

He brought the box towards me and kneeled keeping the box on the ground beside him. "Your hand?" he asked.

I had no idea what was happening. "The hand in which you got hurt," he said, his voice had British kind of crisp that was unbelievably harmonious to hear.

I gave my hand to him as he inspected the wound. He then reached inside the first-aid box and pulled out a disinfector and a ball of cotton.

Wait, he was treating my wound! I tried not to get too shocked but my eyes just widened on their own. He poured a few drops of the disinfector on the cotton and gently started tapping it on my wound.

"Tell me, why are you being like this?" he asked, not only he looked like a Prince but also sounded like one now.

"I...am trying to fix what I did these past few years," I replied.

"Do you really think it's that easy?" He put the cotton aside and took out a bandaid.

"No, of course it's not. The things I've done are really unforgivable. But still, I want to change and be the person who my friends can really call a friend. Not only that but I wanna make new friends too. I know that this is hard but I am willing to try." I was keeping my eyes down the whole time but after what I said, our eyes locked as he put the bandaid on my hand.

"Don't think I helped you because we are friends again," he said and stood up picking up the first-aid box. He kept it back on the shelf and was about to leave when I called out to him.

"Arken, thanks for this," I said.

He left the infirmary without another word and to be honest it hurt me. Why was he having so much effort on me?

I sighed and went back to class.
