Thud

As the "as always" boring mass, as the devout believer Ayre describes it, ended, the attendees started scattering towards the plaza. He himself however, decided to stay inside to meet the new cardinal; although it will not be easy casually meeting him.

As silence started to dominate the place again, he finally had the chance to talk to the person in question. He gets up and started walking towards the lectern.

"Wonderful morning, isn't it?"

Ayre started by greeting the cardinal.

"Oh, it is indeed. Hello, Ayre Bushnell. I heard something about you from Min. I am sorry for the sudden transportation of my necessities earlier. It seems like he gave you a bit of trouble?"

A hoarse voice of a man in his late thirties was what he heard. As hoarse as the voice sounds, it is soothing enough that it can make anyone who hears it comfortable.

"Uhh, well, no actually. I just checked if it was an official procedure. Cannot really smuggle things inside the church itself, can you?"

Even with his calm but a bit satirical response, Ayre was wondering deep inside why the cardinal has not introduced himself yet.

"Well, a strong point, I guess. Oh, I am sorry. I am Cardinal Eryl Syth. You can call me Cardinal Eryl and I am the new Cardinal of this cathedral. I hope Min already told you the details."

Eryl Syth. A man with a normal build on his late thirties. People often see him as someone whose eyes are always closed. He once worked in one of the biggest churches in the Church of Libra, the Zubenelgenubi Cathedral and was slowly appointed to be the cardinal of a different city's church. However, certain circumstances lead him to be the new cardinal of Crotton Cathedral.

Details huh. Is he implying for me to not ask about Cardinal Flinn?

As Ayre thought, Cardinal Eryl was implying to not ask about things he did not need answers to, since Min already told him earlier that his position is not high enough to know the details.

"If you are asking me about that, its alright. It was just too sudden to hear that Cardinal Flinn moved churches. Well, I have to say goodbye now, Cardinal Eryl. Have a good day ahead."

"Saying goodbye already? It is indeed not easy to be a department head of such a big city. Then, thanks for the greeting and I hope to see you often from now on. Goodbye, Ayre."

Hmm? That's a familiar way to end a sentence...

Ayre was having these random thoughts as he walked towards the door at the side of the lectern. A scene identical from an hour and a half ago was what caught his eye. The movers are still not finished with the process of moving the Cardinal's personal and for-work things.

How many damn things does that guy needs? Jeez...

He ignored the working personnel and headed straight to the exit of the church's premises. However, as he was strolling in the hallway, he heard something like a soft thud.

Hm?

With a "hm" as he slowly turned around, Ayre saw a book. It was a normal case-bound brown book that you can see anywhere. He picked it up after sometime and realized it was the previous cardinal's belonging.

Cardinal Flinn's... diary? I see. That is why they have been moving their asses since earlier. It was a wonder actually...

As he conversed with himself like a sad virgin who has nothing to do, he flips the page and started reading the contents. The further he reads, the clearer the disappointment on his face is.

It is a normal diary huh...

However, as he started to give up, he caught a glimpse of an interesting detail at the very last entry. It was written 2 days before the current, Month of Capricorn, 28th day.

"28th Entry, Month of Capricorn

I am tasked to go to the Sphere Domain. I have no knowledge of what will be required of me, or what that domain even is, however, it seems like I will be replaced in advance and my replacement will be Eryl. I cannot trust him but I have no choice but to obey. The Brachium Cathedral itself summoned many city cardinals. It seems like they are trying to fix something and many of the cardinals are required. Either way, I still have to leave this place by tomorrow or at the latest, at the start of the new revolution."

As he was reading this, he felt like he was a four year old who is introduced to a concept even teenagers will not be able understand.

Sphere Domain? Trying to fix something? The Brachium Cathedral itself? I am really a clueless guy right now. Well, I will ask my father about these matters later when I go to confirm Min's moving documents...

After he checked his surroundings, he started tearing the page off the book and swiftly put it in his breast pocket. He then acted like nothing happened and called one of the movers to tell him that his comrades dropped something.

After the business was done, he started walking towards the left gate of the church. He then finds Dan waiting patiently for him at the plaza.

"Hey, Dan! Here. I got some business inside the church so I got out a bit late. We should go to the governor's office first then go to mine. Day is still long so it will not take too much time. I just want to ask my father a few questions."

"All right."

The friction between the wheels of the carriage and the road produced sound, they started facing towards the large building in the middle of the city. It did not take them long before they arrived in the premises of the City Hall.

Now walking towards building, he is still thinking about what he read. He does not have a single clue on what the whole diary page meant, however, his father may know something.

It did not take long for him to face his father's office's door. He did not hesitate and knocked on the door three times. It was quiet for a few seconds however, a reply soon came.

"Come in."
