Letter

"Foreign affairs chief, what did you come here for?"

Ayre saw his father and the current governor of Crotton City, Crill Bushnell, sitting while reading and signing different kinds of approval papers.

"Yes. There was a moving happening right now in the cathedral and I, the FA chief was not informed about it. How come?"

Acting professionally on their respective duties, it will look like they are not a father and son duo if a stranger is to witness this scene.

"Well, take a seat first and wait."

He found a seat and helped himself to it. His father however, is searching for something in the drawer beneath the table. After about a minute of searching, Crill finally started walking towards the seating Ayre.

"Here. This is supposed to be a letter for the governor, for me, from the Brachium Cathedral, but I can see not a single dot there. Do you know what this means?"

He handed the blank paper to the sitting Ayre and started heading back to his seat. Ayre, of course, accepted it.

"An urgent notice?"

Hoh? Urgent, and Brachium Cathedral too, huh... Ayre tried to match what he read from the diary Flinn left behind to the information his father gave him.

"Exactly. I don't know exactly what transpired but the matter was with Cardinal Flinn. He was summoned somewhere to do something. Urgently, as obvious as it is."

"You don't know too? I haven't heard of any... priest summoning before. I don't know how to call it but the point is, this didn't happen before. Did something happen in the cathedral which I don't have any knowledge of?"

He asked but obviously, he knows what the answer is.

"Of course nothing happened. I can assure you that. Well, it is just that, actually a lot of these summons happened all throughout the different churches under the Goddess through Brachium Cathedral.

Mass summoning; another matching point. It seems like at the very least, half of the diary entry can be trusted...

"Well, it is probably a matter related to the church of the goddess so you don't have to concern yourself with it that much."

"Alright. Then last question. Do you know what a Sphere Domain is?"

This was the part that intrigued Ayre the most. A "domain".

What kind of thing or place is this to have the word "domain" in it?

"A sphere what?"

Silence...

In his twenty-six years of living, this was the most puzzled expression Ayre has seen on his father's face.

"You don't know anything about it?"

He asked again.

"No. Where did you hear something like that?"

"I just managed to take a glance at a paper... Well, never mind. I will go now. Goodbye, Father."

"Well, I have never encountered a place like that. Anyways, all right. Go do your job and stop loitering around the city. Good morning and goodbye."

"Oh by the way, I just want to confirm this paper. This is the required moving document from the new cardinal. This is real right?"

He almost forgot what he came for in the first place though...

"Ah yes. It went through me first before they started moving Eryl's things."

"I see. All right I'm heading out now."

"Alright."

Crill went back to his seat while Ayre started moving towards the door, unconsciously putting something into his breast pocket like it's the most natural thing to do.

...

The sound of a door closing was echoing throughout the hallway where Ayre was walking in. He is now headed to his office to officially start his working day. Although it was just a few blocks away, since there is a carriage he can use, why walk? Is what he thought back when he first claimed the position of chief three years ago and was having a problem with walking "long" distances.

The content of the diary is definitely real. At the very least, that is what Flinn knows when he was writing the page. Well, not like it matters to me now. I already confirmed that this whole procedure is not illegal...

He was lost in thought as he keeps pacing away in the empty hallway. It was not that later when he arrived where Dan is waiting for him.

"Dan, here. Take this back to the cathedral, to Min, later after you take me to my office."

"You're done with this?"

"Guess?"

"...Alright."

After that brief exchange, Ayre once again went into the carriage; the third time for the day.

...

Nothing worth noting happened after Ayre went into his office. It was now the first sunset of the current revolution and Ayre was walking away from his office door. The view outside the windows is quite the contrary from the view he had woken up to in the morning: a vibrant yellow-orange sky so bright that it illuminates the whole sky, even the veil of purple light is almost turning red after being exposed to the sunny blend of colors.

This was the view he saw for a while until the carriage reached the gate of his family's home.

"Sir Ayre, we've arrived."

"Good job today. You are free now. Use the extra time however you want but I might call you later through a servant if something urgent happen."

"Roger that."

Ayre started walking towards the entrance of his home. The same path he followed earlier today is what the path he's walking on, towards his room. He met a few people on the way: his siblings, some servants, and guests. But as usual, he ignored them with his ice-cold look and carried on with his business.

Hm?

However, just as he was about to tell the same servant who opened his room early in the morning, to open his room, he felt something on his breast pocket.

Did I forgot to give the letter to Dan? Ehh? I want to rest now that my schedule's over though...shit...I will just tell the servant to give it to Dan.

He was lighting the bedside lamp and a table candle as he called the servant over.

"Hey, new servant, you know Dan right?"

"Yes, Sir Ayre."

"Alright. Take this letter to him if you can tonight. Tell him to take it to Min."

He handed the envelope to the servant and she opened the door for him. He noticed the usual lack of light in his room and he changed into his "casual" clothes, which is also a fancy type of pajamas, types which us broke peeps can't buy, untied the mini bun on the back of his head, removed the glasses and prepared to take a nap since it will still be a while before his scheduled dinner.

The small white noise in the background cannot prevent the tired Ayre from falling asleep as he started snoring just a few minutes later.

umu. as obvious as it is to uhhh the, well let's just say readers, the last 4 chaps are all random bullshits ive conjured so to make the plot more concrete (+ hell week in school + many other bullshits too) imma take a break from writing and instead focus more on research to make da plot and characters more solid. dun worry tho da plot already has a general direction i just need da deeper infos to make da foundation of da novel sturdier.

*vanishes* whoooossshhhh
