Hermione watched her daughter walk away. She seemed remarkably collected and in control, considering what she had gone through. She didn't have words for how proud she was of her. Harry moved up next to her, and seeing her expression, smiled too.
"She really is just like her mother," he said. "I have never seen anyone else getting so much bad news at once and take it so well. She didn't even shed a tear until we were out here."
"How bad is it?" she asked. There was no need to comment on the other parts.
"It's bad. They don't know much yet, but it is a question of how bad the damage is, not if there is damage."
Hermione bowed her head, trying not to show tears. Strange, how quickly and naturally Scorpius had inserted himself into their family and their lives. Considering what she had done to him, it was amazing how open and welcoming he was. And now their relationship had led to Draco Malfoy sleeping in her house.
"I need to go and meet Ron; he should be back with the Trackers soon. I need to inform him that Draco Malfoy is now staying at our house."
"Ah, so you haven't actually asked Ron if he is okay with this? I wondered why he would be so open to letting Draco Malfoy of all people into his house." Harry said with a smile.
"I don't need his permission. I was going to suggest that Rose stay there, and she clearly wanted to stay with Draco, so then he came as well. But I would prefer that the stay is as short as possible, so I would like for you to go out and find me that last fugitive now, please."
"Yes ma'am" Harry said with a mischievous grin. He always did that when Hermione started to get a bit bossy. She smiled back at him. "I'll just go and update the rest of the family and say goodbye to Albus, then I will go and check how the Aurors are doing." Harry said as they walked away from the ward.
When they got back to Albus' room, Molly was just leaving. "I'll go and update the rest of the family," she said. "How is Scorpius doing? And Rose?"
"We don't know how well Scorpius is doing yet. The Healer said to come back tomorrow. Rose went home to rest with Draco. For their own safety, they are at Ron and Hermione's house." Harry explained.
"At your house?" Molly said, surprised. "Does Ron know that?"
"No, not yet." Hermione said with a sort of smiling grimace. "I am about to tell him that now. It is only temporary."
Molly actually chuckled as she walked down the corridor. Hermione sighed and opened the door.
Ginny was still there of course, and Ron had returned. Albus was still awake as well.
"How's Scorpius?" he asked when he saw his father.
Harry explained what the Healer had said. Albus looked like he wanted to cry. Ginny held his hand in comfort.
"Rose and Draco decided to go home and come back more refreshed tomorrow." Hermione said, in a forced matter-of-fact tone. "Since we are still hunting that last Death Eater, they are staying in our house for their own safety. They could still be targets."
Harry smiled as he noted how Hermione deliberately lumped Rose and Draco together. Ron at first just nodded, but then it dawned on him exactly what she had said.
"You invited Draco Malfoy to stay at our house?" he asked incredulously.
"I said that Rose could stay there, and she and Draco wanted to stay together. Specifically, Rose didn't want Draco to have to face all this alone. If you have a problem with it, you can go and tell Rose you don't want her to stay there."
She knew Ron. He liked Scorpius, but he had some issues with having Draco Malfoy as extended family. But when she worded it like that, there was no way he would go and tell Draco to leave.
"Did you bring Trackers Ron?" Harry asked. "Or do we have to make them? We have the Death Eaters secured in another room here in the hospital, but I would like to have them back in Azkaban as soon as possible."
"Yes, as I suspected, George had made about 20 of them. We can even make them show as different colours on the display, to know which is which."
"Excellent. Do we have to place them in the neck? That is the natural place, and if they suspect something, that is where they will check for it."
"No, but we can't put it anywhere that is too thin, it is noticeable in the hand for instance. If we don't use the neck, I would recommend the arm or the leg."
"The leg" Harry decided.
"Do you want me to come with you to place them?" Ron asked, sounding hopeful. Did he just not want to go home when Draco Malfoy was there, or did he just want to stay on this case to the end? It was probably a little bit of both.
"Yes please. I could also use some help with the manhunt for the last Death Eater, if you are up to it?"
"Definitely. I don't want any of them getting away after hurting my family."
The two left and Hermione also left soon after to organise the security around the captured Death Eaters, and to make sure everything from the search was completed and recorded. Albus drifted in and out of sleep all day, but Ginny rarely left his side.
