Aisha's Confession

Efe Walked closer to Brume and began to raise his voice, shouting and blaming him for why Nkechi never took interest in him from the start. He clenched his fist and stood in a fighting stance, ready to hit his brother, but Brume wasn't fazed, he turned his back on him and walked to Nkechi, apologised for all the drama and misunderstanding and made her know that he never knew things were the way it was.

Brume then walked back to Efe and said to him, "it's enough, let it go. We shouldn't disgrace ourselves outside because of a girl."

But Efe wasn't having it, he tapped his palm on Brume's chest and pushed him back, stopping him from going anywhere, and he turned around and locked the gate. Both Aisha and Nkechi were too scared that they thought they were going to start throwing fists.

"I know you're older than me, but what you did is unforgivable," said Efe.

"How can you be this unreasonable and blame me for what I have no idea of?"

"It's enough Efe, I never found you interesting from the start, I only wanted to take a good look at the bike you were riding, and possibly take a ride too and that's why I ran after you that evening, and as for Brume, I fell in love with him from the first day our eyes locked, it was love at first sight."

"Why didn't you tell me long ago, why did you keep making me waste my time?" asked Efe.

"I knew I liked you from the start, and I wouldn't have minded if you didn't feel the same for me. You would have just told me because I feel stupid thinking about it right now," continued Efe.

Brume turned to Efe to hug him, but he refused his brother's hug and pushed him away because he was still hurt.

"Why are you acting unreasonable, Efe? Do you see me fighting my friend Nkechi over you? When I saw you that night, I was super attracted to you, but as I saw the connection going on between you and her, I didn't want to get in the way of that.

"I always wanted you, but what would I have done, take my friend out of the picture or start a fight with her?" said Aisha.

When Aisha was done, they all turned simultaneously to look at each other, they seemed shocked at what they just heard and immediately, Aisha put her palm over her mouth to cover it like she never meant for the words to come out, she was abashed by what she said.

"Can you repeat what you just said again?" asked Efe.

Aisha could not say it, she didn't want to, she instead turned around, unlocked the door and walked into the house.

Nkechi walked to Efe and said, "I am so sorry, I would have said something sooner."

But Efe did not respond to her apologies, he appeared not to have heard what she said, he walked away into the house to look for Aisha because he felt that the person who deserved all the apologies was her, for her patience and always trying to make him feel better after being rejected over and over again by her friend.

"Don't worry, you owe me no apologies," said Brume, he knew Nkechi was going to apologise too immediately after Efe left.

He hugged her, opened the gate and left for his meeting which he had wasted a lot of time from r because of all the drama he witnessed and he was about to face another one momentarily.

"Were you joking about what you said outside?" Efe asked Aisha when he saw her inside.

Aisha didn't answer, she instead stood up and walked to her room, and locked the door, she still felt abashed by what she said. Efe followed behind and stood by the door, talking to her to unlock the door for them to sit and have a better conversation about the whole thing.

Nkechi walked into the house and noticed what was happening, so she knocked on the door and pleaded with Aisha to unlock the door and hear him out.

Aisha unlocked the door and said, "Nkechi, come inside, please. Efe, I'll talk to you later." She locked the door immediately after Nkechi entered, and sat on the bed afterwards. "I have a big mouth, I would have kept those thoughts to myself outside."

"It was nice of you to admit having a feeling for him. To be frank, I was both shocked and relieved," said Nkechi.

"You should be relieved, at least he'd stop pestering you." Aisha giggled.

"Oh, it's funny, right? Anyway, I wonder what's going through his head right now though."

"That's why I don't want to face him just yet because he'd have a lot of questions to ask and I might not have the type of answers he would be yearning to hear," replied Aisha.

"So, you think locking yourself in here and leaving him outside waiting is the way to go about it?"

"No I don't, but for now let me get myself ready to face him."

"Were you serious about what you said though?" asked Nkechi.

"About liking him from the first day I saw him? Yes." She stood up, unlocked the door and peeped out to check if Efe was still standing by the door, he wasn't there. "Did you not notice how well I described his physique when I saw him and how handsome he was?"

"You are always the type that takes as she pleases without attaching anything to it. I thought it was you being you," replied Nkechi.

"I had something attached when I said that that night. I've kept him waiting long enough, let me go and talk to him."

"Good luck," said Nkechi.

Aisha left the room in search of Efe who was neither by the door nor the parlour or anywhere in the house for that matter. She decided to go outside to check for him and saw him sitting in his car. She walked to the passenger side of the car, opened it and sat down with him and for that short period, they were both quiet.

"I shouldn't have said those harsh words to my brother. I feel ashamed of myself fighting him over a girl who didn't take me seriously." He turned and took a look at Aisha. "Do you want to take a ride around for a while and probably find somewhere to sit and talk?"

Aisha nodded her head in agreement and Efe drove out.
