chapter 16 - Scared

I, Roxy Migurdia continued my journey to further refine my ability to use magic after witnessing my previous desciole continuously surpass my expectation. They had made me feel more humble for my abilities as a Water Saint Rank Magician. It's been a month or so and I already began to miss them, especially my precious Reinhard who often tries his best to court me. 

His childish antics and memories we shared played into my mind, always giving me the motivation to improve myself and show that I am worthy to be their Shishou. Right now, I was in my inn looking at the sky pondering about how they were doing. 

Have the two made new magic yet? I doubt they haven't since I know full well that their talent won't be found anywhere. 

'Right, I haven't opened the book that Rein gave me.'

Remembering the last gift that my disciple gave me when we found it and it didn't take long to see a book that was immaturely made showing that Reinhard had taken quite a while to make them. Opening the book was greeted at the first page was a letter that I quickly inspected and opened it.

"Shishou, if you are reading this means that you have opened my gift. I'm writing this to let you in about a few things regarding what is written in the book. All that I recorded in it came from my dreams and took quite a while to remember every single one of them. Regardless, it is important you do NOT share this knowledge because I believe that bad people would use this for evil-."

Reading the letter made me more curious as to what was written in the book, especially how he specified to not share the knowledge that he recorded. My pride as Shishou pains me since he seems to be the one teaching me rather the other way around but I buried that feeling and continued my reading. 

"-I have tried it myself and confirmed that this theory of mine works but I'm unsure if it's because of my talent or not. It took me longer to understand this method of mine and hoped that Shishou would benefit from it. I believe in you, Shishou and even though I made this to help does not mean the effort you're going to spend doing my method to be unashamed off. Remembering that whatever happened you are my one and only Shishou.

I smiled at the last part feeling overwhelming emotion coming from it. My precious disciple unconsciously hugged the letter after a few seconds before reading the book that Reinhard made. The first page had a section for exactly 3 things, Mana Core, Mana Zone and Mana Theory. 

To my shock his theory was in depth and beyond a mage scholar that wrote his theory about Mana Core that is similar to magical crystals that wand normally have.  

"A Mana core similar to Mana crystal that amplifies, purifies and increases the mana capacity. Based on my dream, A Mana Core is classified into six colors: black, red, orange, yellow, silver, and white. One's mana color starts off as black, due to the body's blood and other impurities mixed with the mana particles as they form together into a mana core. Each stage of the mana core colors is split into three shades of dark, solid, and light, except silver which is split into initial, mid and high and white core which does not have stages. In general, the lighter the mana core color, the purer one's mana core was. Therefore there was more power one could have access to."

To my shock his records told the impossible since I know that a Mana capacity is decided by birth and rarely increased. As someone from the demon race, my Mana is already large in quantity but the possibility of growing its size would mean that I could create more powerful spells. It appears that there is a ranking system similar to how swordsmen and magicians rank from beginner to god.

"I am unsure if White core has the same power of God rank since I haven't seen one but regardless I believe they would be forced to reckon with. When I first unlocked my Mana core it had boosted my capacity and quality between 2 to 3 times. I've tested a simple Beginner Rank magic and found it to turn into an intermediate Rank."

Words couldn't even describe what I learn the more I read the content of the book. Where did Reinhard find this? Is his dream even a dream? I might think he is lying but having written over a dozen pages wouldn't be worth the trouble for a harmless prank. 

I now understand why he doesn't want to share his knowledge to the world as it would cause a wide catastrophe if it fell into the hands of someone who has malicious intent. 

"At the current moment as I am writing this, my core has turned into a Red core Dark Stage and the boost has doubled. However, I soon found that  the purifying process becomes harder the longer it is. This means it is all in hardwork and talent."

It seems even Reinhard struggles but to apply a theory without any proper knowledge and only work out of some weird dream is truly amazing. This made me feel belittled by my disciple who has bestowed an evolutionary theory.

'*sigh* I can't seem to beat you, Rein. The teacher should be the one bestowing knowledge and not the other way around, you silly boy."

I jokingly said to the boy to whom my heart seemed to belong and continued reading to find the methods in creation of Mana core. 

"-when creating a Mana core it is first that one knows to enter a relaxed state where their mind is concentrated in sensing then present of Mana. Once a person able to vaguely sense and guide the mana would pull them into a single spot around the abdomen area which I call Mana Center. The mage who wishes to gain a core would then try to gather the mana pieces within the Mana Center then slowly compress and condense them."

It was difficult to visualize it but fortunately Rein had drawn some illustration that was good enough for me to understand what I needed to do. 

"Huh? What's this? Warning, when the person feels like nearing the completion of their Mana core it would be recommended to be extremely far to anyone and find a safe place that won't cost any damage in the area as those at the completion stage would cause an explosion."

Wait, does that mean Reinhard had caused an explosion when making the core but where would he be doing that? Is it when we take a break? Yeah that has to be it. Anyway, I decided to close the book and read more later since I have to process the thing I've learned right now.

"You're really making it difficult to prove myself to you, Rein."

I muttered looking into space pondering what my disciple would be doing right now. He had given me ways to let me grow, therefore I can't let him down now.

"Achoo!"

I sneezed all of a sudden and it made me quickly ponder why would I sneeze when my body is constantly protected by Mana reinforcement that also improves my immune system. Perhaps my master is talking about me right now since that's the only conclusion I can guess. I'm once that ain't superstitious but after living in a magical world then I doubt something like that wouldn't exist.  

"Nii-San, this is Sylphy. "

Right now I'm at my brother's usual spot and currently introducing his friend and soon to be wife, Sylphy. She was a meek young girl that had a tomboyish look to her that my brother obviously knew about his gender. 

I won't be telling him that she's a girl since it would be entertaining to see his reaction when he finds out and teases him about it. 

"H-Hi, I-I-I'm Slyphiette, it's nice to meet Rudy's brother."

"Haha no need to be shy, a friend of my brother is a friend of mine. Well, I'm Reinhard, it's nice to meet you too, Sylphy."

I introduced myself in a friendly manner that was still reluctant around me and quickly hid behind my brother. Now I can see why my brother is going to be sent to our distant relatives. I mean  my influence on Rudeus was enough to toughen him up and let him stand on his two feet but seeing that Sylphy won't be able to separate herself with Rudy if they weren't forcibly. I'll let him be with his relationship since I am already struggling with mine.

Redeus seems to be teaching her how to wield magic and giving him permission to use my method in making the mana core to help her a bit in the future. However, I made sure to warn them in fear of the explosion. Chances are, Rudeus would have his Mana core around a year from now while Sylphy would be 2 years from now. 

Right now I was experimenting if I could turn myself invisible by refracting the light to pass through me. If my theory is correct and deflect the light spectrum that would in turn cause me to turn into invisible which would be useful when spy on the enemies. I need to make sure that I wouldn't be sensed by anyone if I'm successful creating the spell. 

"Nii-San what are you doing now? Don't tell you're continuing making that…what do you call it?"

"Ah Mana Bullet? Yeah no, I would do it when you two are not around since I'm afraid what it could do to you two if I made a mistake."

Despite having the confidence that something like that would've happened again, I didn't take any chances. I would just train it inside Empyrea and hope for the best. 

"Rudy, w-what are you two talking about?"

"Ah, my brother was just talking about the other but anyway I'm just trying if it's possible to make myself vanish."

"Vanish?"

"Actually just let me concentrate and show once I'm done."

He nodded and let me be while the two continued their chat as I channel the mana then manipulate it's property to deflect the light that surprisingly actually works quite well. The light started to refract and twist that slowly turned my hands invisible. I could still feel my hands and the wind passing through but the light is the only one reflected. 

It was rather difficult and consumed quite a lot of Mana but in time I know that this would be a useful skill to have especially the things that would've happened in the future. Now I began to guide the mana throughout my body and soon covered myself that I had turned completely invisible. 

I turned to look at the two and decided to pull a prank moving closer quietly to them before scaring them with simple. 

"Hey!"

"Gaaah!!"

Sylphy jumped while Rudeus shudder then turned to the one who spoke but to his surprise no one was there only when he looked down did he notice my feet weighing on the ground.

"I know it's you Nii-san! Why did you scare us like that and is this what you mean vanish?"

"Hehehe sorry, I thought it funny and you two should have seen your faces."

"Nii-San it wasn't nice. Look how you scare Sylphy."

"I-It's fine, Rudy. I was just a little bit surprised."

"Hahaha yeah I won't do it again. But next time try to stay focused and sense the surroundings. Did you forget what papa taught us?"

"....I was distracted."

"Yeah yeah, Next time we are going to train again."

"Oh no! I'm not Muscule-head like you!?"

"It's inevitable brother."

Seeing the two of us interact, Sylphy let out a small giggled showing how close we are.
