Chapter 35 – Hiring

Even though they were finished with their anime, Nexus Animation staff didn't stay idle for long. After two weeks of deserved rest, they returned to their HQ, ready for new challenges.

With that said, it is not like they had anything to do, as it was not yet decided what are they doing next, but wanting to show their diligence the boys still came every morning and without anything to do, they just talked with their colleagues.

Two topics were most prominent, the next anime and their new colleagues.

Kira is supposed to return today from LA, everyone already knows what happened there and they are all excited for their future, both individually and as a whole. So, because Kira isn't here yet they still don't know what anime will they make next, will they again decide as a group or maybe this time Kira is going to decide by himself, or maybe they will work on anime commissioned by OnlyAnime. There were a lot of maybes, so the bored staff talked about every possibility. Also, when it comes to new anime, everyone has their preferences and the anime they want to make.

When it comes to the second topic, you read that right, Nexus Animation is currently in the process of hiring new people. With new business deals and money, they made from all their commercial deals – selling blue-rays, merch and other stuff like that, they are finally ready to do something that Kira was planning for quite some time, to hire some new blood.

Kira talked with Joshua and others about that and it was agreed by all that even though they succeeded this time, if they wanted to work on bigger projects, Nexus Animation would need new people, but Kira wasn't ready to hire a big amount of people, as they are still kind of tight in some financial areas, so only the positions they really need are going to be filled.

That's why Kira decided to hire two more animators, the chief marketing official and a person working under it.

Kira values marketing probably more than anything and it showed in their case, how good marketing can bring anime more popularity. Also, they really don't have enough animators. Yes, they have three excellent animators but that's not enough, as they will in the future work on several projects at the same time. Not soon but if the success follows them, soon enough that is going to happen. So, Kira wants to hire at least two, and he wants to do that fast so that the new employees get to know their colleagues sooner rather than later because Nexus Animation is a one huge team, and without good cooperation, they wouldn't be what they are.

"Listen up world, your favourite studio is hiring, for all the information about this please click on the link down below. We are looking forward to seeing new faces join us…"

This was how the new post on Nexus Animation's social media looked like, written a day after Kira returned to Japan. He took a day of rest and the next day immediately continued working. A true workaholic, something that made his uncle proud.

Kira Rowe is currently in his office with Toma Yuu, they both were looking at the submissions and CVs sent by a bunch of people, who have a dream of working in the anime industry.

"Hmm, we got quite a few of them, and a lot of people here are from this town, which could be expected, also most of the admission is for the position of the animator, tell me director what are we looking for?"

"I can guess you are asking me about the animator position, experience is definitely a good thing to have but it is not everything, I would prefer someone without experience but who has a good work ethic, also most of these are young people and they all can improve…"

Younger or more experienced animators?

Like Toma Yuu said, most of the submissions were from the younger people with grand dreams of making an anime, of course just because they are young doesn't mean they don't have any experience. Quite a few youngsters on the list have a decent CV.

Still, Toma Yuu didn't care about that, being talented and experienced is good but if you can't work as a team, that's not important. Also, Nexus Animation has some really interesting personalities as part of the staff, so there exists a question - will the people they hire be able to work well with those weirdos? In any case, they might be weird but they are all hardworking and good people, that won't cause any problems for the newcomers. Probably…

Toma Yuu with his hands on his mouth was thinking for a couple of seconds and then said – "Let's just invite them all for an interview, I don't want to write anyone off just by looking at their CVs."

Kira just nodded his head and agreed with the director's opinion.

"What about marketing officers, boss you told me that you would also check if any of your fellow Oxford students are interested in the position, so?"

Kira Rowe, an Oxford graduate who made a lot of connections and friends at his Uni, some already entered the business and some were more interested in other aspects, like marketing and chose to enter that field.

He knew a lot of people that are still in the process of trying to find a job, so, the man contacted some people he knew and asked them for a favour to put the word out that he was looking for a person who was going to be a chief marketing official in his company.

"I did put the word out but I kind of doubt anyone would be interested, didn't even check it someone actually sent a submission…"

Kira was right to think like that. Oxford students are all elite and if you get a diploma from there you practically guarantee you will get a job, as a lot of places would be interested in hiring you. Nexus Animation is a kind of nice start-up company that still isn't that famous and financially strong. Also, the HQ of the company is in Japan and most of the students in Oxford are from Europe. A lot of minuses and the only plus would be the position. As the chief marketing official, they would almost be their own boss, the highest position in that department, but can that plus outweigh all the minuses? Kira didn't think that was possible.

"Oh well, I will check it at least."

Saying that Kira started looking through the submissions sent for the position of chief marketing official and also the one for just a normal employee in the marketing department.

Having almost come to the bottom, Kira was about to say something to Toma Yuu when he came to the bottom page and a confused look appeared on his face.

"Wait, what?"
