Eminent Shadows:The Trilogy

This story contains Elemental magic and mysteries to come! Updates 2 chapters a day —There was a shout, and I turned to see we were surrounded by a couple dozen men dressed fully in black. “Who are you!?” Clay called to them. I pushed forward till I was standing beside him. “We are the shadows..” I stared at them. “We have come for our revenue!” The man who was speaking had a voice that was airy, almost like he wasn’t real. “We have done nothing to you!” I called out. “Have you not?“ there as an echo of high pitched chuckles. “You dirt, stole our master and brought him into this world before you killed his father.” I was lost. I couldn't tell what he was even talking about. “What master? What is his name?” I asked in a loud voice, fighting to make it sound strong. “Leonurus! He is a master of shadows, and a master of darkness.” “And how did we take him?” The man chuckled again. “You are one to talk, greedy woman, you are the one who stole him!.” He pointed at me. “What is he talking about, is he from that other world?” I shook my head. “Your cursed spells, you try to deny it!” I stepped forward away from the huddled group behind me. “I have never messed with the darkness!” He stared at me. “You are the one that took him away through birth.” It hit me and I flinched, the baby! “I don’t know where he is.” I finally said after a second. PS: There are many different POVs but only one main couple in each vol -NOT A HAREM-

"She cleans up well." I caught myself thinking as I watched her eyes roam over my office. "Good morning." She smiled.

"Good morning." I nodded. She bent down to place the twins on the floor at her feet, but she didn't move to sit.

"What can I do for you?" She sighed.

"Not a lot actually but, I was hoping I could get some fabric?" She waved a hand at her clothes. "This isn't my style, I know how to sew so if I could just get some fabric, thread and a couple needles. It would be awesome." She finished with her eyes downcast.

I could probably get that for her. Dominic was already getting suspicious, but I couldn't refuse. The least it could do is give her something to do, and keep her out of trouble.

"I will see what we can do." She smiled, and moved to gather her twins up from where they had started to go for the things that were shiny.

"That's all I can hope for. And thanks for sending someone to help, she has a lot to learn, but she seems smart." I nodded, I hadn't been the one to choose who went to help Coral, but I trust Green picked to the best of her ability.

"Where is your helper anyway?" I asked, wondering why she hadn't come. She shook her head. "Not sure." I nodded again and stood.

"Have you eaten yet?" She looked up from the child she had picked up, her eyes wide. "No.. oh I forgot to even ask about it."

I moved from behind my desk to pick up the other twin, he giggled when I wiped at his cheek. "Let's go eat." She looked at me questioningly, but followed as I opened the door.

The siren interrupted us 5 minutes after we sat down in the empty office's cafeteria. I gave Coral an apologetic smile as I rushed from the room. As soon as I was out in the training yard I was approached by my Lt.

"Captain, we have a problem!" I followed her as she talked. "Doctor Rose had a problem with the body of the sick patient. And it has escaped again."

My heart skipped a beat. "Didn't we hand the doctor a corpse?!" Lt. Green nodded. "It seems someone went into the lab this morning and revived it!" I stared at my ungloved hands and grunted in reply.

We reached the stable and mounted our horses. "It was last seen going towards the west barrier station." A soldier informed us as we set out.

I got a glimpse of it as we raced for the west entrance, it was much larger than the normal human size. It now stood 10 feet tall with black eyes, its skin was completely covered in black runes that seemed to move.

"What in the world!" Green shouted, my eyes glued to the creature as we approached. It turned to look straight at me before striking off to the left

down the street, it moved like a shadow.

A shiver ran down my spine. "We had caught it once, we could do it again.' I thought as I led the group forward.

We circled around and followed it back into the training yard, with a loud commotion guards took up station at all the exits. I pulled Jimson up and dismounted.

Unsheathing my sword I advanced on the cornered creature. Dominic had the same idea and with his small group came in on my right. "DON'T TOUCH IT!!" I vaguely heard Rose scream from behind us.

It rushed Dominic, a second it was standing watching me the next Dominic was on the ground with it on top of him. He let out a yell but it was too late.

The creature ripped through his men and then headed for us. I stood stunned as I watched it streak towards my men and I. Green was in front of me in a second, her hand shot out and she grabbed the creature by its neck and it crumpled from the sheer amount of venom she sent through its body.

The alarm stopped and the soldiers parted to let Major General Reed Eldor through followed by Rose, her face dark with anger. "I said don't touch it!"

Green stood at attention. "It was the only way to stop it."

Rose brushed past us and inspected the corpse. I stuffed my hands into my pockets when the Major General addressed the crowd. "We have apprehended the run away, and there is no need to be scared, so get back to your posts."

The crowd obediently moved off and the Major General turned to me. "You have a job to do, if you wish to entertain a lady. Maybe wait until you retire." He slapped me on the shoulder and told me he expected a full report, with that he left.

Green sighed. "Get Coral home!" I commanded and marched towards the medical wing. "As you wish!" Green replied as she turned in the opposite direction.

My nerves were shot, I entered the critical care room and waited for the doctors to notice me.

After a minute and Dominic seemed stable the doctor came over to me.

"He has been through a lot, but he will live. The full extent of the damage is still not clear." I nodded, I walked over to the bed and stared down at Dominic. His eyes were closed, bandages covered his chest and one of his arms.

"Hey buddy, don't worry we have the best doctors." He didn't respond, and I sighed. Turning I left the room.

A feeling of disappointment washed over me. I forgot that Coral might be hurt, that I had run off and told her to go home. But the hurt feeling I was feeling had to be both of us.

I returned to my office feeling angry, but I was still under the command of Major General Reed so what he said was law. But did he really have the right to tell me who I could entertain?
