Ella Smith

“What made you decide to grow up? You are tired of what life has given to you?” Darifa asks with a bit of sacarsm. “You have been so naive.” "Naive," Ella shook her head dejected after another disappointment. She had been on the run for as long as she could remember, not sure of what chased after her. Sometimes she feels that the first thirteen years of her life was a dream, a house to call her own, family, wealth, and influence all disappeared like they never existed. “I am tired of running, it is time to go back and get answers,"She nods. “I have decided to give life what it has given to me too.” “How do you intend on paying back?” Asma asks out of curiosity. “I will pay back in tenfolds, be it pain or happiness. I will pay it back in the folds.”

REVELATION

"We have been waiting for you ma'am." The first man whispers with a sign of discomfort as Jessie walks in.

"Welcome ma'am." The second man greets.

"Waiting for me? For what reason? I already told you I didn't call for the meeting." Jessie says as she sits and Cecelia stands behind her.

"Who is she?" The second man asks looking at Cecelia maniacally.

"She is my personal assistant and manager, get used to seeing her." She replies bluntly and faces the rest of the men. "So, someone sent messages to the eight of you?"

"Yes." The men answer.

Jessie scoffs and looks away for a while and asks in her head. "Could it be Ella?" She faces the men again. "Let us hold on a bit, I am sure whoever called for this meeting will surely show up."

"So you really didn't call for this meeting?" The first man asks.

"Must I spell that out for you?" Jessie asks too.

"No need to argue or fight, I am right here." Ella says and walks in with a lot of reporters and photographers taking her pictures as she walks in the meeting room and writing down everything she says.

"Who are you?" The second man asks.

Jessie stares at Ella with bitterness, she recognized her immediately because she looks so much like her mom. "So you were alive after all?" She whispers in her mind.

"I sent you the text messages." She replies the second man bluntly.

"Who are you to send us that type of messages and why are you here with reporters?" Another man asks.

Ella looks at the the reporters and inhales sharply. "They will make everything easy for me." She looks at her friends standing by the door and smiles at them. The smile shows how scared she is.

"She is so scared right now." Shamim whispers.

"But she is perfectly hiding it." Abdullah says admiring her confidence.

"Who are you?" The first man asks again.

"I am…." Ella moves closer to Jessie and stands right in front of her, she raises her head and sights a young lady standing behind her antagonist. "Who are you?" She asks in her mind, staring and observing the lady well.

"You are who?" Another man asks.

Miss Smith faces the man and smiles. "Ella Smith."

Camera shutters, the reporters asks hundreds of questions at once. The entire meeting room turns to a market place as everyone has one question to ask.

But Cecelia only smiles at her sister, "she looks very different from Linda." She says in her mind.

********

"It's so good we were able to do away with those reporters." Jessie whispers hitting her palm gently in the table.

Ella looks at Jessie closely and smiles. "So, you are really tensed at the moment." She says in her mind.

"We all thought you were dead!" A man exclaims.

"But thankfully, I am not." Miss Smith sneers at Jessie and Cecelia got that. "God didn't want me to die then."

"We can't assume you are Ella smith until we conduct a test." Jessie whispers with a devil smile.

"Oh yes!" Ella clacks her fingers. "The test? I already did that."

"What?" Jessie asks.

"Don't worry, it was conducted here, if you have any doubts, you can investigate it later."

"So where are the results?" A man asks excited.

"I don't have them here, but it will be here soon."

Jessie scoffs and says in her mind. "I see you are really prepared."

"You see.." Miss Smith sighs. "My parents were all murdered by someone no one knows. I suggest the person is very influential. All investigations died along the line. So I had to lay low and just wait till I am grown up a bit." She pauses and continues. "So, if anything happens to me, just know the people who killed my parents are at work."

"I will talk to my friend, he is a commissioner of police in the state. He should help you with security." One man offers.

"I will be so glad if you can do that, thank you." Ella raises her brows and faces Jessie. "Judging by the look of things-" she is interrupted by a doctor who walks in her without knocking.

"Good day everyone, I am here to deliver the medical reports of the young lady right here who claims to be the missing Ella smith." He drops some papers on the large round table. "According to these reports, it is states that she is the true daughter of the late Peter Smith."

"I knew she wasn't lying!" A man exclaims and giggles.

"Thank you, you can take your leave." Jessie whispers to the doctor and turns her head to face Ella immediately he exit the meeting room. "You have grown to be a very courageous lady." Jessie comments letting her bitterness speak too. "I remember clearly, then, you were so young and naive-"

"And a victim of bully too." She cuts in with smiles.

"Victim of bully?" The second man asks.

"Yes, I was bullied by your daughter." she points to Jessie. "I am sure you are aware of that."

"Really? So the news about her being a bully was true?" A man asks another man sitting close to him.

"I actually thought the news were just groundless rumors."

"Not you alone, I actually thought of the same too."

"I didn't come here to talk about the bully today." Ella smiles and faces Jessie again. "It looks like you were the woman who partnered with my father, before he died."

"Of course I am, I think I followed his legacy and made the hospital what he wanted it to be•

"What he wanted it to be? How do you know what he wanted his hospital to be?" Ella asks but gets no reply, as a matter of fact, the atmosphere was seeming tensed already. "The agreement was just to be a partner for 3-4 years, isn't it?"

"Do you plan on getting rid of me this fast?" She asks screaming in her head. "Yes." She nods.

"According to the reports I have here, you have realized times 15 of the real amount you invested over the years." Ella whispers and smirks.

"I was able to realize that much all thanks to my hard work." Jessie says praising herself.

"No one is disputing the fact, but if my father were to be alive, you would have left the hospital long ago."

"To be very honest you are right Ella." One of the men agrees with her. "But it would be very insulting and disrespectful to discard her just like that."

"I totally agree with you." The first man concurs. "But I suggest she takes over her father's position as the CEO of this hospital. Mrs Jessica currently has 60 percent of the shares to her name." He touches his jaw and continues. "Forty percent should be given to Ella."

"That is too small, have you forgotten the amount of money she has enjoyed over the years?" A man who had been silent all through disagrees openly. "Fifty to fifty five per cent should be given back to the rightful owner."

Jessie clinches her fists tightly and says in her mind. "I won't go down easily like this, I won't."

"Do you have anything to say?" Ella asks her father's one time lover in a mocking manner.

"I will hand over fifty five percent of the shares to you." She whispers dejectedly.

Right in front of her eyes, she watched her opportunity of being the owner of the prestigious hospital go down the drain.

"Again, I heard you scrabbed out all the charity activities that my father engaged in every year."

"It was totally unnecessary." she replies and her voice trembles.

"I want those activities back on again." She faces the shareholders and smiles at them. "As you all know, I am very young and my knowledge can never be compared to yours. Please take me in as your daughter and let us work hand in hand to save lives."

"I think we will all love to have someone as young and thoughtful of you as a leader."
