The sky suddenly turned unnaturally bright, almost mocking her foolishness.
And she was foolish. She had been foolish from the very beginning.
"If I hadn't been so soft-hearted, if I hadn't agreed to help my despicable father raise money for his mistress, I might have ended up with nothing, but at least I wouldn't be feeling this pain and despair. But there's no going back, Mark. There's no way to undo the regret in my heart, no way to fill the void of my suffering."
"Am I stupid? Have you ever seen anyone more foolish than me? But even so, I still love him so much. Does that make me pathetic? I must be, because I deserve this pain!"
Her tears flowed endlessly like a river. Mark watched her face, swollen and red from constant crying and wiping away tears.
"Stop crying." He reached out and gently pulled her hand away from her tear-streaked face. "Don't cry. Don't hurt yourself. Don't let yourself be sad."
