41. The Switch

NIGHT BEFORE THE AUCTION:

Ast went to the slums area of the town where he found many people on the side of road. Drunk man rolling on street. Some thugs beating someone and many such detestable scenes.

He found two man he was looking for. These two were the main leaders of some shady group running many illegal activities in Aldi town. He came to know about them by asking around the town.

" Are you the chrome brothers?" Ast asked observing their physical features and dimensions.

"Yo kid, why are you wearing that hood and mask. Are you here for some sort of revenge. Hehehe"

Ast in response brought viper out. He bound both of them with his soul weapon and took a little amount of life essence out of them. This freaked the brothers and soon they were pleading for forgiveness.

" I have an assignment for you both tomorrow at noon be near the 4th window from front outside the auction house, I will tell you the details then" finishing the sentence he threw a small bag of gold coins towards them and used his shadow jump to vanish.

BACK TO THE PRESENT :

Ast quickly moved towards the window with Anya. First he used his shadow as a medium to bring two men near him. These two men were the chrome brothers who were patiently waiting outside near the window. He struck them both at the back of their head using two ordinary knives.

Before the brothers could understand anything they were dead. He then quickly covered them with two hood and masks.

This whole process took less than 1 minute as Ast knew that this was a race against time. He then quickly shifted him and Anya out of the auction house and spammed his shadow jump along the alleys until both of them were out of town and hiding in a nearby forest.

"Anya I don't think we should return to the town today. Tomorrow we will enter the town using the main gate and will use our identity so as to remove any suspicion on us if any. What do you think?"

"Well I don't have any problem but I think you are being a bit paranoid I know the situation is a bit special but who would have suspicion on us. They don't even know that we are elementalist. Even if they find out we are still just level 1. I don't think we will have any problem " replied Anya

" You are right, but as you know they have many mysterious artifacts so it is very easy for them to find out about our level. So forget about being able to hide that. And as you can see my element is a bit special. At first I thought everyone creates their own element by changing aspects of the earlier present ones. But now I am having some doubts. So it will be dangerous for us if the higher ups found out about my element and we already have trouble from the Blair family and now the royal faction. I am even having doubts whether to enter the competition or not " Ast said while in deep thought.

While Anya and Ast were searching the forest for a place to rest and spend the night. Ast heard a message from his system.
