39. Auction(2)

Ast and Anya returned after doing their respective tasks and moved towards the center of the town where the auction house was situated. Ast told Anya that they would spend the night in the slum area of the town tonight, Ast explained her his plan. Anya was shocked but she understood his reasoning.

These interactions between the siblings were teaching Anya a lot and her thinking was slowly transforming. Although Anya was just a child but even she knew from the beginning the kind of world she live in. This world based on power was cruel and unforgiving.

What she was taught in the Blair manor was not limited to culture and atticates, she was also informed about manipulation and to read between the lines. It might be harsh on children but it was a power and cunning based nobel society.

Seeing Anya's serious aura Ast felt a bit guilty. " Anya, knowing what kind of things would be auctioned today. Aren't you excited?".

Hearing this Anya came out of her thoughts. "Oh yeah, i forgot about the items. Do you know there is a rumour saying this time the auction is a bit special, as many families and clan would be in attendance, the royal auction house has come up with special items that would normally not be auctioned. It is rumoured that the royal family wants to promote its own legion after the auction ".

" Oh.. It seems we will have some good items after the auction hehe.. " Ast said chuckling.

Anya's mood was uplifted immediately she was now anticipating holding all the magical stuff.

The front of the auction house was a bit crowded, there were two doors for entrance. One of the door had people lined up in an orderly manner, while the other door was empty with one or two people entering over time.

Ast and Anya went towards the empty door and were stopped to verify their identity. Ast simply showed his vip card and entered with Anya. Upon entering Ast noticed that the inside of the hall felt different. Anya tucked on his clothes and whispered "Ast I think our elements are restricted here".

Ast was taken aback, he tried using his own powers and to his surprise he felt no restrictions at all. He tried asking the system but got no response. He then tried using the lightning essence inside his body but wasn't able to move the lighting.

'So somehow they have blocked the use of elements, but it looks like my' light of nihility' isn't affected. What could they have used for this though ?' Ast was puzzled by this new phenomenon, it was apparent that such technology was not privy to public and royal families secrets were vast. But his element was spared it intrigued him and also relaxed him because without it his plans couldn't be completed.

Ast and Anya moved in a narrow passage with many permanently closed windows and reached their booked chamber. Ast had seen and chosen the location of their chamber yesterday. Their chamber was on second floor with a semi transparent window facing the centre stage. After half an hour of waiting finally the auction began.

A tall man with a nobel aura around him entered the stage " prestigious guest of our auction house we welcome you, without further ado we bring you the first item of the day". And so the auction began. In the beginning the items were aircrafts and some potions which did not interest Ast.

" The next item for the auction is a set of books on alchemy, specifically poison alchemy. It contains vast knowledge, and was found in the elemental node. As you all know anything found in the nodes are extremely precious. So don't hold back while bidding"

Ast knew very little about these elemetal nodes as very less information was available publicly. These nodes were the high level secrets tightly guarded by the royalty and the Academies.

Suddenly someone from one of the chambers raised his voice. "Wait, first tell us why is the royal family selling such important thing without prior announcement and why are they selling it at all. Is it useless or are the royalty plotting something against the nobels".

It was a well known facts that even the Nobels were not given access to the elemental nodes and only through the Academies (nobels faction among students inside academies)they could learn about the magic and mystery of these nodes. This treatment has been a major contention point among the nobels and even talks of rebellion were going on because of this.

" Dear guest it is nothing of the sorts it is just the royal family's way to show their sincerity before the main event. And if it helps you, the information contained inside these books has already been recorded by us, thus auctioning it was natural" said the host of the auction, trying to reassure everyone that there is no foul play involved.

"So without further ado lets begin. The bidding will start from 5 million".
