She threw a half-filled bottle accurately aiming at the girl who tore her sheets.
Getting bumped by the bottle, the girl was startled in shock, and for a minute the kids who witnessed that went in silence of shock and the only sound that came out of it was that of the bottle falling.
The girl didn't know how to react but Shyla stood up, picked up the bottle threw it back to her knowing she would catch it.
"Have you finally lost it? Or yesterday wasn't enough for you to make a scene? what? are you trying to get attention or something? Even so don't you think it's too much?" In a cold voice and weird gaze, she lectured Rui.
Rui put the bottle in its place, and calmly sat down without answering any questions and started to get panic inside.
'Wtf! What did I just do? oh god, this short temper of mine...I just wanted to startle her a little, but the bottle hit her head? when did my aim get so good? I wanted to avoid any trouble,...what should I do?'
When Rui was dealing with her dilemma, Shyla and others got annoyed but the others came to her seat stomping their feet.
"Hey! How dare you hit me?" The girl shouted at her with a glare of rage.
"Wasn't I supposed to be invisible? What you can see me?" Rui asked very genuinely, which got them more annoyed and they grabbed her by the collar.
"Hey Shyla, your guess was correct she really has lost it. didn't you? To spout such nonsense."
"No? I wasn't invisible?"
"Hey, you think it's a joke?"
giving up in rage she asked. Rui with a little laugh pushed her hands away from her collar very gently and said,
"No, I mean you didn't listen to me when I told you to move your shoes and even when you dropped my things you didn't realize so when you were dragging your shoes on the sheets I thought I was invisible and just wanted to test but if you can see me then, why did you ruin my assignment? You know we need to submit it today." Acting like a poor victim to irritate the girls she asked.
"Seriously, this bitch...hey, are you trying to act smart with me? You don't know why I did that? It's because you're annoying."
Pushing Rui hard by shoulders she said. Seeing Rui doing nothing and just standing like a wet kitten the girl felt superior and continued with her comment,
"What? Where did all your confidence from earlier go? I am surprised even people like you are allowed here. Has this school lowered their standard or did your father just beg too much?"
"Rhine!!" A teacher came stomping her feet in anger and slapped Rhine, the girl insulting Rui, "I guess we need to have your parents here to show them their daughter's achievement. I don't know about Rui but I am sure it was your father who was stressed sitting in the principal office because of her daughter's academic results. Isn't that right?"
Scolding her with facts she turns to Rui, "You okay?? Did you get hurt somewhere??"
"No, I am fine... I just may not be able to submit my assignment today could you please give me some more time? Miss Lara, I will be sure to submit it on time." In a very low and stuttering voice, she mumbled.
Lara pitied her and asked her to sit and calm down first, "Calm down, here have the water, and if it's about the assignment, you can submit it next week so relax."
Patting Rui back gently she gave a glare to Rhine and asked her to meet in the office after the period was over and with that, she lectured the whole class.
As Lara was lecturing the class, Rhine in embarrassment, and Shyla caught a glimpse of Rui smiling at her in mockery. And before she could clarify herself Rhine had already lost her points in front of Miss Lara.
Rhine after visiting the office came back and straight went to her seat, without eye contact with anyone she lowered her head and went into a slumber. and the rest of the time went in peace without much trouble
"And that's how the nation got their rights through revolts and protests."
As the class was going on Rui noticed her empty bottle in thirst she asked for permission to fill it and asked Shyla for the pass when the other student behind her requested Rui to fill his bottle too.
The kid asked for it in a very polite and gentle manner and as far as Rui knew him he wasn't one of Shyla's minions so she carried his bottle too.
But to her surprise, there was no water in the water cooler when she opened the tap. She was informed that the machine was about to go through a maintenance check so she could have water on the ground floor as it's fresh and just got renewed.
As she was filling her bottle a teen boy came to her in the basketball wear,
"Can I have the water please?"
"Yeah, Sure."
"Thanks."
Rui checked the guy from head to toe and turned to fill the other bottle, 'Basketball player...why does he feel so familiar? Where have I seen that face before?' pondering her thoughts she forgot about the bottle and didn't pay attention till it leaked out.
"Oh, Sh*t! Tsk" She clicked her tongue.
"You okay?" The guy asked. "Yeah." Rui got all embarrassed and avoided any eye contact.
The guy noticed it and changed the subject, "You're in 1st year, right?" Rui nodded lightly in response.
"Have you decided on the club?"
"No, not yet."
"Then..." The guy took a page out of his pocket and it was a pamphlet of a basketball club. "Here you can check out our club."
The front of the pamphlet had a picture of himself and he just appreciated the cameraman, his friend, and just shrugged it off but Rui got an idea that maybe he was the star player of the club.
Rui with a curiosity asked, "You carry it with you like this?"
"No, actually I was just left with one, so...anyway you should check it out. By the way, I am a third year but can be comfortable with me and the name is-"
"RIXY!! Hurry up we are about to start." the guy in the corridor shouted.
