Chapter VI

Lux's POV

I take a deep breath before entering the house. Why am I nervous about this? I guess nothing will happen. The first thing I saw in the living room was Jessica and Blue.

Where's the other? Did they go somewhere or never mind. Can't bother to think about what they're doing. I'll just be here next to Blue and say nothing.

"Oh I see, you finally arrived. I thought you leaving your party here." He said as he entered the room. "Come into the dining room and after let's talk." He gave me a scary look.

"O-Okay I guess," I said while I slowly stand up.

He stops and looks at us. "By the way, The name is George how about you three?" He asked.

"I'm Lux, this young fellow is Blue and this armored lady is Jessica," I said as I introduced them.

"Ah I see, come on let's have dinner." He said as he enters the dining room."

"Let's get going then." Says Jessica.

I nod at her and follow her steps. This is awkward for me since I'm used to eating alone these days and here in someone else's house so kinda scary if you ask me.

We ate dinner and the food taste incredible, I have never tasted something like this for a month or so... I clenched my fist as I recall those fun and beautiful memories I have that turn into a tragedy. I will never forgive them, I swear to my name I will eradicate those bastards.

I immediately lose my appetite so I just sat there waiting for them to finish because I don't wanna be rude or for them to think that I don't like the taste or something.

When they finished I head to the living room and waited for that George guy to come. We waited for a few minutes, he arrived and sat in front of us.

"Why is my little sister with you during that time?" He looked at me in the eyes.

"I'm unconscious when they decided to join us with our quest so I can't answer your question, sir..." I said as I hid my face by looking down.

"I'm the one who invited her since we're heading in the same direction so instead of her doing scout we raided the area," Jessica said with confidence. "And also thanks for Lux plan, we subjugate every orc in the area so yeah... You can call it a win-win situation right?"

"So, tell me why are you unconscious then?" He asked me.

"I was stabbed when I am at the tavern saving your sister from getting in trouble because of those adventurers that are trying to molest her?" I said with hesitation.

"Oh! You're the one who causes havoc in my tavern for saving a girl. I thought she's the one you save." He points at Jessica, and then holds my hand and shakes it. "Thank you for keeping my sister safe." He let go of my hands and go back to his sit. "So... how did my sister join you?"

Jessica explained everything as she elaborates on the exact situation that I, Blue, and Gina went through.

"Oh... But you did a good job there so I would like to appoint you Lux to be my sister's bodyguard." He said with a cheerful tone.

"Thank you for the offer but I will not accept it," I said with a cold expression.

"Why?" He said with a disappointed look.

"I went on a journey to find these rebels or something that destroyed my village, killed my mother, and take my sister along with them so... I would rather not make her a part of this," I said as I restrained anger. "This is a dangerous path I'm heading so I can't take anyone. Blue forced me to let him join and he won't leave me behind so I guess I'll just let him join me."

"I see, I guess that can't be helped then." He stood up, stretch his back, and sat again. "But I will still insist to take her with you, you might need her help since from what I analyzed in your sentence it's a huge group and cannot be taken so lightly."

"I will join you too!" Said Jessica "It's fun living in risky situations am I right?" She said while looking at Goerge.

"That's right!" George and Jessica high five each other and gave me a thumbs up. "I want to join too but... I am busy managing my tavern and also being a mercenary so I can't."

"Did you know that there's a chance that we will die during this since it's a very dangerous journey I'm going?" I said to him.

"As long as you keep my sister safe. If you don't." He gave me a scary look. "I will hunt you until the end of the planet."

"I can't let her join. You too, Jessica I can't." I said with frustration.

"No, I insist." Both of them said it in a chant.

"Just don't blame me if something happens," I said to him in a serious tone.

"If, you let it happen am I right?" He said as he gave me a death glare.

"ah... you won," I said in defeat.

"There ya go!" He said as he pats my back aggressively.

"Why are you having fun in this living room?" Gina asks as she gave his big brother a good stare.

"You're having your first boyfriend! I congratulate you, my little sister!" He ran towards his sister wanting to hug her but he kicked his face.

"Hey, that's not what we talked about!" I said as I scream at him.

"What is this scheme again?" He asked his brother.

"You're joining his party." He straight up said it.

"I refuse, thank you." She was about to leave but her brother hugs his leg. "Hey! Let go of my leg!

"Please! consider my request!" He said while hugging her legs. "I just want you to experience the true adventure!"

"I said no." As she tried to remove her brother clinging to her leg.

"For your brother's sake pls?" He said as he begs her sister.

"Agh, Fine. I'll just ask our parents to get permission." She left this room in frustration.

"I told you she eagerly wants to join you." He said with a wide smile.

"Yeah..." We three said in a chorus.

"You can have a bath, take the room at the left and make yourself at home as I do my job in the tavern." He left the house while we sit here doing nothing.

"Uh... what just happened?" Blue said in confusion.

"I don't know too," I said while trying to process everything again.

"Let's get going then." Jessica stand up and left us.

I guess this is it. We were both ready to take our turn in the bathe as we put our things in the room that he pointed at. After finished I take turns and then blue and ready ourselves to have a nice sleep.

February 18

I woke up because of the sunlight that shines on my face. so blinding and a little hot. I was about to stand up but my body wouldn't let me and all this pain I didn't experience yesterday triggered.

The only thing I can feel is this pain in my stomach. It hurts so bad that I can't move my body. One wrong move will hurt in an instant. I guess this is bad.

"Oh. so you're awake to huh?" Blue said while lying in the bed.

"Could you help me to get up?" I asked.

"I was about to ask you the same but oh well." He whistles for a minute. "I guess we're stuck in this bed haha-- Ow.... my back... I can't laugh either..."

We heard some footsteps from a distance, they opened the door and entered without hesitation. They saw us still lying in this bed.

"I know my brother said you have to 'feel at home,' but you two stop relaxing," Gina said in frustration.

"To tell you honestly, we can't stand... our body wouldn't let us get up," Blue said while in pain.

"To sum it all. Our body is in pain, not just a tiny pinch of pain, we mean whole body pain." I added.

"Oh, how poor." She walks towards us and pulled me with a lot of force.

"Owww! That hurts a lot." I said as I scream in pain. "You're a heartless beast, you could do it gently right?"

"Sad to say but I cannot." She did the to Blue so he cried in pain.

"Oww! My back! I felt like I was going to detach from my body." He said as he cried in pain.

"You two get up get over here." She said and then she fled the room.

"So heartless..." I said out loud.

"Sorry, about my little sister she's just like that." He said as he sits on the chair near the door.

"Apology accepted so can you help us now?" I said to him.

He immediately walks towards us and gently pulls us to stand up. oh boy, that's a nasty pain I experienced there...

"That's it, I think you can manage to walk right?" He asked.

"Yep we're good," Blue said to him.

"Okay see you in the dining room." He said as he walks out of the room.

"Let's get going then," Blue said as he tries to walk without hurting his back.

I followed behind him as we walk towards the dining room, every step hurts our body so we walk slower than normal. We were about to arrive at the dining room and saw Jessica come out of the door.

"Hey, guys!" She said in a cheerful smile.

"Hey." We both said in the chorus.

"Head towards the dining room and the food is nearly finished I'll just change my clothes." As she left us behind.

We nudge our heads and towards the dining and saw Gina preparing the plate also the food that we will eat.

"You came. I thought you will die because of that body ache you two have." She said as she focuses on placing the plates on the table.

"Haha funny." Sarcasm said.

We both sat on the chair and we did that slowly as possible. It hurts like hell. I just couldn't stand the pain. I feel like I was about to burst into tears.

We waited for everyone to arrive so we can start eating. When they arrive we started eating and every time I raise my hands it burns like crazy.

We finished eating and Gina's brother called a healer to heal our muscles that were forced to stretch when we fight the orc. I have the worst injury because I tank a heavy attack from that orc.

So it takes an hour for my injuries to return to their usual form if I say. After it is done we start preparing to depart from this place because Jessica keeps insisting to be part of a mercenary, at first I didn't like the Idea burthen I realized that we may come across those who attack my village.

"How's the preparation?" George ask.

"It's going pretty good if you ask me," I said as I sharpen my blade.

He stared at my belonging for a long time. "What is this sheathe of the sword? it doesn't look like it's from your sword." He asks as he points it.

I grab the sheathe. "This? my father gave this to me, it's like a family heirloom."

"It looks like it was from the royal family." He said as he examined it.

"Really? I don't know what royals use." I said to him.

"it seems like there's a broken half of the sword inside?" He said as he pulls it out.

When he successfully pull it he immediately drops it with a shocking look on his face. He was goosebumps when he holds it.

"What's the matter?" I ask as I grab the broken sword and put it back to its sheathe.

"I felt the presence of the demon lord in that broken sword." He said.

"Demon lord? Are you kidding me? That's only a story." I said while putting my things in my backpack.

"It's true. I once help to destroy that lord for the last 10 years." He said.

"Oh... okay, then time to head out!" I said as I leave the room.

He was just scaring me I guess that's what I thought but 10 years? That's when my dad went missing and someone delivered it to our house with a letter that my Dad wrote.

"I think it's not," I said as I insist to ignore what he said.

"Put your belongings in this wagon and we'll use this for our transport," Jessica said as she instructed us to come.

I drop my things there and waited for the others. They arrive and drop their things and wait for someone.

"Who are we waiting for? We're all here right?" I said to them.

"Oh you were not informed?" she asked.

"informed of what?" I added.

"My big bro also forces our brother to join us since he always heads for a dangerous quest to it's better if he joins us he said." She explained to me.

I can see that man is smirking right now. What a bummer... I can't understand him at all.

"I'm here." He said as he climbed up the wagon.

"He's Jeremiah, I'm older than him by 1 year." He looks at his little brother. "This weird-looking man is Lux, this sloth right beside him sleeping is Blue and our driver is Jessica." She said.

He nods his head. "Nice to meet you then." He said with a poker face.

That's not how communicating works? but oh well that's just it to him I guess.

"Oh hey! ready to depart?" Gina's brother said while riding a horse.

"Are you following us or something?" Gina said with a cold expression.

"I would like to but nope. I'm heading to the Castle, meeting an old friend there." He said with a cheerful voice.

"I thought you only go there if that's an important issue?" Jeremiah said with a poker face.

These two were so cold compare to their very cheerful brother. I just can't understand them at all.

"Nah, I just feel like going. I'll be going then see ya!" He went ahead of us.

"Let's get going then," Jessica said as she whipped the horse to move.

Our horse only walked because it's all our things here are heavy and of course, you can't just rush the horse you know but it walks faster than us so we can just sit still and we can arrive at the town before dawn.

George's POV

"Hey, George, why do you suddenly visit here at the castle." An old Grand Collar asked.

"I found Lucas's son, Marcus," I said.

"You found my nephew?" He holds his chin. "I'm grateful. I only saw him when he is still a baby. That Lucas is so cautious when it comes to his family." He laughed out loud.

"Tell me the truth. Did you kill the demon lord or not? I was unconscious when you destroyed them so tell me." I coldly said to him.

"No. We couldn't. There are only two ways to vanish it. The first one is to open the gate of the underworld and threw him in there or seal him." He said.

"So you sealed that demon lord?" I asked.

"Yes, but there's a flaw that we didn't know at first. Sealing that strong entity does not only need magic but also sacrifice." He said with a sad look. "Lucas sacrifices himself to seal that entity in his sword but we destroyed the demon lord's body to dust so he can't come back to his body if he escapes."

"Is it broken or not?" I asked.

"Nope, it's not why?" He said.

"Then why is the sword broken when I saw it," I seriously said to him.

He immediately gave me a shocked look. "How? Did someone try to attempt to revive him?." He said with a serious tone. "We already destroyed its body so who's body will that entity use?"

He thinks for a second until he realized who and clenched his fist in anger.

"You knew it right?" I asked him.

He nods his head. "It's him, Lux." He said with anger. "Why did Lucas ask us to give that sword to him?"

"I don't know but if he has a plan we will trust him," I said as I look at the skies.

"I'll ask Zephyr if he knew something about this," Marcus said and left me in his office.

I can't afford to start another expedition now.

If the time comes, I don't have a choice but to fight again.
