Hunt

"Haah~" Andrew sighed all the negative emotions from before disappearing. "That was a good laugh." He chuckled.

Edward stood up with his spear. "Well, since the three of us are here, why don't we hunt?" He asked, spinning his 7 feet long spear. "We can't be under level, especially in a place like a savanna."

"You are right." Leonardo nodded, looking up at the standing Edward. "Don't Lions live here? Or is it the grassland?"

"Both," Andrew responded, leaning the spear on the tree and using his hand from a binocular, trying to find anything to hunt. "Savannas and grasslands are the same things."

"Do you think they will become monsters?" Andrew brought up a good question, causing Edward to stop his search, going into deep thought. "I mean, if we gained a system, the animals should too."

"Or, they might just immediately evolve." Leonardo pointed out, standing up. "Like how slime started appearing, all animals might have evolved."

"You are right," Edward mumbled, knowing he couldn't beat a Lion or a cheetah even with his new and improved physique. It would be even worse if they evolved and became monsters. "Let's stick with herbivore animals. Just farm Exp from them and eat them."

Leonardo shook his head, looking at his unfinished spear. "Some herbivores can also be dangerous, like Elephants, Rhinoceros, and Bisons. The plan to stick to hunting herbivores is flawed. We can get killed if we aren't careful."

"Wow. Why don't we go hunt a fucking Elephant." Andrew sarcastically said, staring at Leonardo. "No, why don't we ambush a Rhinoceros so it can stick its horns up our asshole."

"I get it," Leonardo growled, sighing. "We should just be careful."

"Clearly," Edward said, picking up his spear. "Let's go for a little search. I can't see anything."

Andrew followed Edward as they walked out of the tree's shadow and into the beaming sunlight. As they walked away, Leonardo suddenly shouted, "Wait!"

"What now!?" Andrew snapped, turning back to Leonardo still standing under the tree.

"Calm down. I just want to know how we plan to get back if we wander too far?" He asked, looking around the savanna. "This place is huge and, like the desert, easy to get lost in it."

"..." Edward and Andrew looked at each other, then at the landscape before them. If they were back in the city, it would be pretty easy to find your way back home, no matter where you are. Technologies and the chance to ask others for direction are to blame.

"We could mark the trees with arrows pointing back here?" Edward stated, looking at both of them. "Simple enough. We should go from tree to tree instead of wandering and mark those trees we pass."

"Yes. Let's get going." Andrew said, walking toward the closest three many yards away.

Edward and Leonardo followed after him, walking in silence through the windy savanna while keeping an eye out for any animals. They soon reached the first three about 100 yards away, with Edward picking up a stone and carving into the tree trunk an arrow, pointing to the tree they just came from.

'This should keep us from getting lost.' He thought as they continued to the next tree in sight.

After thirty minutes of continuing with this, they walked for 1 mile without finding anything. They had started to get tired, and the hot sun wasn't making it any better. Leonard brought up the idea to rest, with Andrew and Edward wholeheartedly agreeing.

"Ughhh! This is tiring!" Leonardo shouted, sitting under a tree's shades. "And I am so sweaty."

Andrew sat beside him, laying his spear on the ground. "That's why I tore off the top."

"And you kept complaining about the flies and cursing at them." Edward pointed out, also sitting down.

"Those fucking flies knew what they were doing. They ignored both of you and came for me! Why is that!?" He shouted, shaking his head to shoo a fly away.

Leonard sighed, defeated. "At least we are taking this time to look at our surroundings, and it doesn't seem like there are any wild animals around."

Edward shook his head, "But this is only one direction. There might be in other---"

His words were stopped as he spotted a Cheetah moving through the grass many yards in front of him. The Cheetah also spotted him, their eyes locking as they stared at each other, unmoving, brown eyes locking with gray eyes.

Andrew noticed Edward's strange behavior, following his eyes and seeing the Cheetah almost completely hidden in the tall grass. His immediate reaction was to reach for his spear but stopped himself. Leonard was the last to notice it, shocked as he moved further back into the tree and reached for Edward's spear beside him.

"Stop it, Romano. It won't attack." Andrew whispered through clenched teeth. "It won't hurt us."

And like it said, the Cheetah eyes slowly turned to the other side, where two Ostrich, a male, and a female, walked. The female stopped, picking off the grass as the male continued walking.

The Cheetah had completely forgotten about them, its eyes fixed on the Ostrich, specifically, the female. The male Ostrich stopped to wait for its partner, scanning the surroundings. Its eyes stopped at the Cheetah but ignored it. After all, one Cheetah can't do shit to it.

The Cheetah suddenly sprinted toward the two Ostrich, going from 0 – 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. The female finally noticed it, as it started running right behind the male. The Cheetah easily caught up to the female Ostrich, running beside it.

"Why are they running? Can't they kill that---" Andrew's words stopped when two other Cheetahs jumped out of nowhere onto the back of the female Ostrich. 'Where...' He thought, a cold shiver running down his spine. They could have easily ambushed him, and he wouldn't know.

The Cheetahs' hind legs dragged on the ground as the female Ostrich kept moving forward, pulling them with it. The first one went below the Ostrich, biting one of its legs. With the combined weight of all three Cheetahs, they were finally able to bring it down, with one quickly running to its front and biting its neck.

The male stood afar, watching its mate being killed by the Cheetahs while chipping.

"We should kill the male." Edward suddenly said, picking up his spear and moving out of the shadow of the trees.

He got low into the grass, his burlap helping him blend in. Moving past the Cheetahs resting beside their prey, they stared at him as if daring him to steal their food. Edward turned away from them, focused on the male Ostrich, now walking away.

Andrew followed closely behind Edward, with Leonardo staying behind, not wanting to get close to the Cheetahs. They soon reached some yards close to the male Ostrich, now eating some grass, with Edward turning to Andrew beside him.

"I will draw its attention. Go around and when it is focused on me, grab its neck and pin it to the ground." He whispered, with Andrew giving up the ok sign.

He dropped his spear beside Edward and began moving away. Edward trusted Andrew could handle such a simple thing, so he waited for him to get in position before standing up. His sudden appearance immediately drew the attention of the male Ostrich.

Without waiting, Andrew pounced at the Ostrich like a lion, grabbing its long neck and tackling it to the ground. The 300 lbs Ostrich tried to struggle, but Andrew was 210, and with his strength stats at 15, the Ostrich was easily pinned to the ground with its neck.

Like that, the hunt was over.
