Chapter # 40

{Flashback}

Ethan and Katie were discussing their plan to attack the witch when someone accidentally hit a vase, causing it to fall. Katie and Ethan got startled.

Mia: "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you guys. I just wanted to get some water."

Katie: "No. It's fine. How are you feeling?"

Mia: "I'm good. But why aren't you guys sleeping?"

Katie: "Oh, we were just discussing-"

Ethan: "We were just going to bed." He said, cutting her sentence, not wanting to tell Mia about their plan. Little did he know she had already heard all of it.

Mia: "Oh, okay."

...

It was 3 at night when Ethan suddenly woke up from his sleep. His throat was dry. He got up lazily to fetch some water.

While coming back, he saw that the lights of Mia's room were on. He went there to see if she needed anything. He was about to knock when he heard some mumbling. Getting suspicious, he tried to listen but couldn't hear clearly. He turned into a Moth....

a moth?(☉｡☉)

Ethan: "Obviously! Tsk, the author doesn't know anything. A moth has the strongest hearing power."

Author: "I-i already knew that, but you could've become a cat or dog or something."

Ethan: "Yeah so that she easily spots me." He rolled his eyes. "How come you are such an idiot?"

This boy has such a foul mouth.

Author: "Don't you dare piss me off? It won't take me much time to remove you from this story?"

Ethan: "Oh, I'm so scared." He said sarcastically. "As if you can do that? Your story won't work without me. And you clearly know that." ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)

Author: (●__●)

Ethan: "Now shoo and let me do my work."

Ughhh...he definitely knows my weakness. Well, I'll let him off the hook only this once. Well, back to the story.

Ethan turned into a moth and entered Mia's room.

Mia: "Yes, that's what they were talking about."

'What is she talking about? More importantly, who is she talking to?' Ethan thought.

Mia: "Don't worry. That stupid girl trusts me more than herself. She won't get a clue. I just need to be careful about Ethan. He is probably suspicious of me. But that poor boy can't do anything to me. Because Katie just trusts me more than him." She said and snickered.

Though what she said was true, Ethan felt disappointed. He ignored this feeling and focused on what he was doing.

Mia: "Yes, my queen. I understand. I have a nice surprise planned for Katie."

Ethan: "I knew she was up to no good. I can't believe she would stoop so low. I have to tell Katie as soon as possible. I hope she believes me, though."

{Back to the present}

Katie snickered, making Ethan shake.

Ethan: "What's there to laugh about?"

Katie: "I wanted to see you as a moth too."

Ethan: "I knew you wouldn't take me seriously. You clearly don't trust me, right. To you, Mia is more important than me, right."

Katie: "It's not like that, Ethan." The atmosphere turned dark. "It's not about importance or trust. But you know we can't doubt Mia. You know how nice she is. All that matter with Case. And she's always been the good student. If she was the witch's minion, why would she attend college?"

Ethan: "Clearly to investigate and keep an eye on you."

Katie: "You're just overthinking."

Ethan: "Would you please, for once, believe me. Everything about her is just suspicious. How come you not notice that? Am I just blabbering?"

Katie: "Ethan, I'm just saying that we shouldn't jump to conclusions."

Ethan: "After what happened last night? Am I still jumping to conclusions?!"

Katie: "You know you have a habit of sleepwalking. You can't be so sure. You must have heard wrong or just had a weird dream. Cause it all doesn't make sense to me."

Ethan: "Aah.. seriously. I can't believe you. After all this time, I failed to win your trust."

Katie: "Ethan, it isn't like I don't trust you. I just don't want to doubt Mia."

Ethan: "It's the same thing, Katie." His face had such a hurtful expression that Katie felt really bad.

Mia entered the kitchen.

Mia: "What's taking so long?"

Katie: "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll just set the table." She left the kitchen.

Mia: "Hmm...I see...you eavesdropped last night. So bad, she doesn't even believe what you saw."

Ethan: "You dare hurt her, and I'll make sure you don't breathe the next second."

Mia: "Ooh poor, Romeo..."
