The first Europeans To arrive in the subcontinent world were Portuguese sailors. One of these was Vasco De Gama who arrived in Calicut in 1495 upon landing they were astonished to see the prosperity and abundance of resources in the region and quickly established trade relations with the port they traded peacefully but later they adopted her share policies to increase their control on the local people they began to exploit the local resources and Markets and set up their ports in southeast Asia for almost a hundred years they maintain themselves as the sole traders in India during that time 42 cal became very wealthy however by the end of the 16th century their power started declining

The Dutch and British started trading India in the 16th century in competition with the Portuguese. the East India Company established by the rich merchants of London started trading with India. the touch and the friends also form their own trading companies to trade with the East. the British eventually managed to set the Major ports in Madras Surat and Bombay.
