Vindictus followed the lady to the back room and she started teaching him the basics of alchemy. He waited for her to show him just the bare minimum and then he quickly stepped in and started doing it on his own. She was amazed at his quick understanding and just got back out of his way. He used the ingredients that she set aside for him and succeeded on four out of his five attempts.

"You have a natural gift Vindictus. Keep the ones that you made and as a bonus here is something else you may find a use for in the future." Not only did he gain four potions but he also gained an additional hundred EXP which was nice.

[Alchemy skill gained. Basic mama potion recipe gained.]

[Alchemy – Level 1 gain the ability to make potions that you have a recipe for. Level 1-10 for beginner potions. Each level increases the chances of success.]

"Thank you very much for your instruction. I hate to bother you but I was wondering if you had a regeneration potion that I could purchase?"

"I have one but that seems a little extreme at this point. It will cost you five gold."

"I would rather be safe than sorry. I will take it." He handed her the five gold and she handed him a small potion bottle. He quickly put it in his inventory. There was only one of these in a starting village and he needed it. "Are there any special herbs that you would be interested in while I am out traveling?"

"If you can find anything on this list, I will make it worth your efforts." She handed him a list that had about twenty herbs on it.

Vindictus looked over the list and knew that most of these plants would be hard to find since there were needed for advanced potions. "I will keep an eye out for them." He put the list in his pocket and headed out to talk to the tanner and the smith.

As soon as he stepped through the door a player ran into him and tried to push past him. The man with the huge sword on his back assumed that everyone would get out of his way and tried to bully his way to the front of every line. He was naturally gifted with physical strength in real life so he was not surprised when he maxed out his strength in the game. What was surprising was that when he ran into the smaller man, he was the one that bounced back like a child running into an adult. Vindictus turned towards the man. "I apologize for that but you should probably not run in the city or accidents like this will happen."

One of the men with the big man barged forward. "Who the hell do you think you are talking to?"

Vindictus looked at the man on the ground. "Well, his name says Big Man with a Sword. So, I thought that was who I was talking to, Little Errand Boy. Oh, sorry I misread your name." His name was nothing close to that but he was not going to take crap from a lacky.

The man reached for his sword. "Red Eagle stop. Just leave it for now. We have only been here for twenty minutes and you are trying to go to jail. Seriously? Are you trying to be the first to get a red name?"

"Sorry Big Man." The lacky stepped back behind the Big Man who was back on his feet.

"Now get out of the way runt."

Vindictus started laughing and could not stop. He was about to try and say something and started laughing again and just walked towards the tanner's shop. He did not even bother looking over his shoulder.

"Big Man, why did you stop me?"

"Red, there is something off with that guy. I should have knocked over 99% of the people in this game with my current strength and that 1% would not knock me down we would just not do anything. His strength is enough to knock me down. And if you look, he had a bow on his back he is a damned ranger and he knocked me a swordsman class character down. Just stay away from him until we are out of here. Messing with him now will just slow us down." Big Man was a game veteran and was a vice leader of a top-class guild and his instincts were very seldom wrong.

Vindictus decided that since he left a better impression on the tanner that he should go ahead and talk to the blacksmith first since he had a shorter deadline. There was a line out the door but Vindictus walked right past them and straight into the smith. The guys that were in line were laughing on how far out of the building the guard would toss the ranger. This game was big on following rules in the town and jumping all these people because you were strong was not acceptable. The laughs quickly stopped when the guard stepped aside and motioned for Vindictus to enter.

"Do you think he found a special quest?"

"That is the only thing that I could think of. Or maybe he came here first instead of the mayor and this quest is not that hard."

"That is probably it. We should be able to knock this out in not time." The two men would freak out if they realized the truth of the matter.

Vindictus walked in and the smith nodded towards him and then towards the back. Vindictus walked behind the counter and into the actual smithy.

"Okay young man. I know that this is going to seem like it does not have a point but I am going to need you to take this ore here and turn it into iron ingots. I will show you the first one and then leave you to make twenty iron ingots." Vindictus got close and watched the dwarf working and it was nice and smooth. There were no wasted motions in anything that he did. It only took him a couple of minutes and the ingot was formed.

"Okay, any questions?"

"No Master Smith, I am ready to get started." Vindictus knew that it would take him longer than the master smith but even then, it would be a lot faster than doing it in reality. They made it as real as they could but there was only so much that players were willing to put up with. Vindictus grabbed a hammer and set of tongs and went to work. He had learned a few tricks in his old life and the system recognized them and let him do the work that much quicker. When he completed the first ingot, he got an alert.

[Smithing – Level 1 gain the ability to make any metal weapon or armor that you have a formula for, able to repair metal weapons and armor to an extent. Level 1-10 for trash and common metal weapons and armor. Each level increases the chances of success.]

[10 EXP]

Vindictus forgot about EXP that he would gain from his secondary jobs and laughed as he realized that once he was complete with the ingots that he would jump a level and then he could go and talk to the mayor and jump another full level since he had already completed that quest. This was going to be a very productive day. He went right back to work and just over two hours later all of the ingots were finished. He was about to go and check in with the dwarf when he came to the back of the shop.

[Level 6]

"How many do you have young man and how much stuff have you destroyed? Do you have enough material?"

"Master smith I have completed the twenty ingots that you requested and I apologize that I did managed to destroy one of the ore that I was supposed to turn into an ingot."

"You completed all twenty and only ruined one. That is better than most of my senior apprentices. Here is the recipe for a common long sword since it is one the best sellers in the realm. If you manage to make one of them then we will start getting serious."

"Master dwarf I would like to run out and grab something to eat and deliver a message to the mayor before I start, is that okay with you?"

"You have more than earned a break. Just come back when you can and finished up the sword. There is not rush."

Vindictus realized that after his success with the ingots the smith's opinion of him had went a lot higher. "Thank you master smith I will return shortly." He was hoping to trigger the hidden quest with the tanner that was best done at night so he could finish up here just in time.

As he walked across the village, he added a point to his vitality and a point to his agility. He was still holding on the skill points. He had plans for them. The crowd around the mayor was pretty heavy since a lot of people got off work and got online but when the mayor saw him, he waved him over. "Young man, I have heard great things from the council members and once you are a little stronger, I have a job for you. Come back and see me when you are strong enough."

[Level 7]

"Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I will see you soon." Vindictus walked away and back to the forge. He still had work to do. He paid no attention to the stares of the players around him trying to figure out who he was. He went back to his adding strength and agility for this level. As he looked around, he realized that time had gotten away from him and he would need to hurry if he was going to complete the sword before nightfall.
