Vindictus went the long way to the back of the wolf hunting ground and found a spot with no players that he could see. He found the first wolf and sent a rock at it. It did not howl but came running straight over. Vindictus sent the bear cub out to face the wolf. The cub was smaller than the wolf but they had the same health and the cub had a higher defense, but it also had a lower offense. Vindictus stood back out of the way with his weapons ready in case something went wrong with the cub. After a few minutes the wolf's speed got to be a little too much for the cub so Vindictus activated his Cross Cut skill and dropped the wolf in one hit.
Vindictus timed it so that the bear got almost all of the experience point for the kill and then moved on to another wolf. But when he checked the stats, her realized that it was split between them. Since he was not in a huge hurry, he needed to check out some things so this time he used the Boost Summon skill on the bear before the wolf got there and the difference was clear. He was going to have to see if he could find the skill on the auction and also spend some more time on using the skill. The problem was it would not count as using it if the bear was not active in a fight. This prevented people from walking around with their companions boosted and then once it hit a high level using that to carry them. Vindictus realized that at this rate it would take him forever to level up the bear so he picked up another rock and threw it straight at the alpha in the area.
The bear saw the huge group of wolves coming at it and took a step back but when Vindictus stepped up beside it, it got its courage back and set his feet while growling. Vindictus made short work of the wolves and let the alpha come in close so that he could practice some skills on it. He used both the Block and Parry skill and once he figured them out, he killed the wolf in a couple of moves. Then he cleaned up all of the goods from the animals and fed the alpha meat to the bear. When he did this, he saw the cub gain experience from the meat. This last bit of experience was enough to push to cub up to level two and he became roughly the size of a wolf.
Vindictus looked that cub eating the food and a thought popped into his head and he got a crazy idea. He put his hand on the head of the cup and then opened his inventory and concentrated on the experience pot. He felt the energy flow into his body but it did not stop in his body but it flowed straight into the bear cub. Once he realized that his idea was working and the cub was getting bigger, he almost emptied the container. There was less than a thousand points left, but it was worth it since the bear was now the same level as him and stood to his shoulders on all fours. Vindictus looked at the stats and realized that Ursi had already learned Roar and Bite and Tear at this point. Now if he could learn slash, it would make an even bigger difference.
There was a small pack of wolves not far away and Vindictus sent Ursi at them. The bear charged into the middle of the wolves and used his Roar skill. The wolves froze and after slapping one of the wolves twice and taking its head off he then grabbed the second wolf in his jaws and after shaking it a few times he tossed it away. The wolf disappeared into pixels of light the instant that it hit the ground. By this time the other two wolves were coming out of the fear status and one of them attacked Ursi and the other simply ran away. The presence of the bear was to much for it. Even an alpha would not have got the wolf to turn back around and fight.
About the time Ursi finished off the last wolf Vindictus got a message. "Wall just message me IRL and there was an accident between them and home and it might take another hour or two."
"Did they pass?"
"They would not say and I am not sure if they are ashamed or want to say it in person."
"Heading to town and taking care of some lifestyle things."
"Thanks for understanding see you soon."
Vindictus slowly walked back to town with Ursi right beside him. The got quite a few looks from players and one group of three came running over because they thought Ursi was a random spawn. When they saw Vindictus they apologized and ran away. He smiled and let them go. They looked like they were maybe 12 or 13 anyway. As they ran way, he thought it would make his trip a little smoother if he put Ursi away into his inventory slot. The rest of the walk no one really paid much attention to him. He was headed to the apothecary when he saw something going on outside of the smithy.
As he got closer, he saw that half a dozen players were surrounding a young-looking dwarf that did not appear to want to talk much. The group had all paid a silver to have the Wolf Moon guild crest on their armor, despite the game not having a guild system yet. The group obviously knew the dwarf and were trying to push his buttons. Vindictus did not know what but something felt off about the entire situation.
The one that appeared to he be leader of the group kept touching the dwarf. Not enough to trigger a warning from the system but it was enough to bother someone that did not want to be touched. It appeared that they were trying to get him to hit one of them.
"What's the matter baby? Your mom and dad are not here now, are they? Huh, where is mommy?"
"Please don't touch. Please."
"What's the matter baby?"
This was not something that Vindictus would put up with. "I believe that you touching him is what is the matter or are you to f-ing stupid to understand a simple statement. Do you need you mommy to come and explain it to you dummy?"
"Who the hell do you think you are?"
Vindictus pointed up. "Well, if you were smart enough to read you could see that my name is Vindictus." The man jerked forward like he wanted to do something. Vindictus just laughed at him. "That only works on people that you are smarter than. So, has that ever actually worked for you?"
"Do you know who we are?"
"Well assuming that you put those idiotic symbols on your chest already with permission then you would be lackeys on the Wolf Moon Guild that will come into existence in the game after the update."
"So, you know who we are and you are still willing to mess with us?"
"Messing with you was not really my plan. My plan was to stop you from messing with someone else. And as far as willing you should ask you vice-guild leader about the guy that killed him and two of his people in the woods when he tried to rob them. Or has that even not been circulated through the guild yet."
"No one has beat either vice-guild master."
Vindictus started laughing. He had used the record function in the system and quickly pulled up the file of the fight that he had saved. He brought up the face of the beastman that he killed and hit play. They all saw the beastman die and turn into pixels of light. "Vice leader Blood Wolf, was killed that easily. No way."
"So now that you peons know the truth about who is stronger maybe you should run along and let this young man be. Because as you heard me tell him, I have no issues killing players from your guild. And as fair warning if you ever try and get this young man in trouble like this again. I will gladly escort you out of town and kill you a few times. I have the funds to bail myself out of prison more than enough times to deal with you."
The group of players ran off and Vindictus looked over the young man. "Are you okay? You don't have to answer out loud a nod will do." The boy nodded towards him. "That is good. My name is Vindictus, would you like to add me as a friend and if they show up again you can message me and I will come help you?"
To his surprise as soon as he finished, he got a friend request. [God of the Forge has sent you a friend request.] Vindictus immediately hit yes. "Thank you, GF. If you need something or they bother you again just send me a message. Do you really like to forge?" The young man nodded. "Okay then take a few resources so that you can get your practice in." Vindictus sent the dwarf two bundles of iron and a bundle of steel. The boy started clapping. "Okay GF remember if you need something let me know." Vindictus headed towards the apothecary with a lightness in his heart.
