Chapter 1: God's Successor?

Tokyo, Block B.

In a 2-story building's second floor, within the bedroom of the owner of the 2-story building, we could see a man in his twenties playing on a PlayStation 4.

He is Kazuya Matsuda, a 20-year-old otaku who loves to be in his room alone, be it day or night, always playing games or watching TaiHen.

He was slightly chubby with jet black hair that covered his eyes. He was wearing a plain black T-shirt with shorts as he shouted.

"Heck yeah! Finally! After a 2-hour raid, I finally got that rare item!" He shouted as he stood up and stretched his arms out.

"Hmm! What time is it?" He said, noticing that outside, birds were chirping and the day was almost over.

He then walked near a wall where a hanging clock was hung on the wall. He checked, and it was around 5 PM in the evening.

"Hm! I didn't notice that the day has almost ended. I should take a shower because I'm really stinking, Yikes!" He thought with a disgusted expression before he walked to the bathroom that was interconnected with his room.

After 30 minutes, he got out of the bathroom with a towel around his neck with a relieved expression. He then walked toward the wardrobe and took out a new set of clothes that consisted of a plain white T-shirt with black trousers.

He then walked toward the kitchen that was outside of his room. He walked for a and as he got inside the kitchen, he started to take out ingredients to make dinner for himself.

"Uh! What should I eat for tonight? It would be really good if my parents were still around. But Sigh! I'm really unlucky." He said with a small voice.

The reason he said that was that when he was 18 years old, his parents went on vacation in China but during their return journey, their plane crashed, and they died there.

Since his parents were really concerned about him, they had already taken out insurance if they ever die, something like that.

And he got 1 Million yen when his parents. If it were before his parents died, he would have been jumping around with an excited face like he just won a lottery but sadly, it wasn't the case so he got into depression and started to become an introvert and never coming out of the house his parents left for him and staying alive using the money of his dead parents.

1 million was a lot of money so he didn't have to worry about money until up to when he's 25 so he didn't bother to find a job.

(Back to the present.)

After cooking food for himself and eating it, he brushed his teeth and went to bed and fell into the dream world.

In an unknown room, there were 2 cushions and a table between them. In one of the cushions was a middle-aged man with no features discoverable in his face, wearing a yukata.

And in the other cushion was Kazuya who looked around with panic evident in his eyes.

"W-where am I? I remember clearly that I slept in my bed just now. And who are— no, What even are you?" He said in a loud tone but the man in front of him didn't seem to mind.

"Well, for starters, you're right, your body is sleeping in your room's bed, and only your soul is here. For your other question, I have many names, but the one which you would be most familiar with would be God!" He calmly said as he sipped on his tea that just popped out of nowhere.

"This gotta be a dream!" He said with disbelief evident in his tone and his face.

"Well, you can choose to believe it or not, that's your problem. I'll tell you what I've summoned you for!" He said with a nonchalant tone as if he didn't care one bit.

"I've called you here since you're the one with the most potential to be my successor who will succeed me and become the next god." He said as he sipped his tea while Kazuya's eyes nearly bulged out hearing this with a shocked face.

"What! Are you for real? But why me? There are 7 billion people in the world" he said with a shocked face and disbelief tone.

"Didn't I just say that you're the one with the most potential to be my successor? Are you deaf?" He said with a strange face.

"N-no, I'm not deaf, and I heard you but I just want confirmation. So, what do I have to do? I Don't believe that I'll just be your successor or whatnot without any things I need to do!" Kazuya said with a thoughtful expression.

Well, he would have been clueless if it wasn't for the fanfic's that he's read in his free time.

"You just have to conquer a multiverse, and you'll be eligible to become my successor." He calmly said, but the latter was shocked the hell out of his wits.

'Conquer a multiverse? Is that an easy thing to do? And why are you so nonchalant about that? Guess it's a perk of being a god.' He cursed the God in his mind.

"Fret not, I'll give you some perks so you won't die the moment you arrive in the world and die before you begin your journey to conquer a multiverse." He said, calming Kazuya, who sighed in relief that the God wasn't stingy.

"I'll give you a devouring system! With this, whatever you devour will give you the strength, skills of the person you devoured without any nerf. You just have to kill them and devour them. Simple right? And it does have a function of world whooping so that you can slowly conquer the multiverse." He said as Kazuya got excited at the prospect of meeting fictional characters he once thought only existed in fiction.

"Can I be the one to conquer the anime multiverse?" He said with an excited face. He doesn't want to conquer a movie verse or something like that; he wants to conquer an anime multiverse.

"Uh okay! Then, you accepted my proposal right?" God said with a smile on his face as he faced Kazuya's soul.

"Absolutely!" He shouted as who in their right mind will turn down such an opportunity?

"Then, your first world will be Highschool DxD. Bye-bye, my soon-to-be successor." He said as he waved his hands, and Kazuya lost consciousness.
