The Half Truth

"Balance Breaker."

Issei's body glowed and in an instant, it was surrounded by a shining red armor.

The signature armor of the host of the Boosted Gear.

"Balance breaker...I'm not surprised but still, he reached it at such a young age for a human..." Tiamat spoke, with Asia listening in...is what I'd like to say but she was knocked out by the earlier exchange.

"Ho...Balance Breaker huh? You're more impressive than I thought, for a human." Kokabiel's smirk grew wider. "I was planning on playing with you until Serafall or Sirzechs came, but you might just entertain me more than them."

"I'm tired of talking all day." Issei's voice echoed all around the Academy. Tiamat's barrier was holding strong, but she knew she had to improve her concentration. "Let's fight!"

Dodging a high speed kick from the red armor, Kokabiel side-stepped and swiped at Issei with a Light sword.

The sword clashed with the armor on Issei's forearm, and the metal held strong. Issei used his free hand to try and uppercut the fallen, but his punch was caught.

Kokabiel's wings slashed at him as the fallen spun his body, and Issei was forced to step back.

The next Light spears that were conjured were more brighter than anything so far.

[They're just bright, that's all! He's trying to blind you!]

Saying a word of thanks to his partner, Issei closed his eyes and relied on his senses to dodge the attacks. When he was about to counter, however, one of the spears that he had dodged hit him in the back.

It didn't pierce the armor though, and quickly evaporated. But Issei knew if he let too many of them do that, his balance breaker would crumble. He turned around and parried the homing spears in quick succession.

He then charged at Kokabiel, but before his punch connected with the latter's palm, Issei vanished and appeared behind the target.

Kokabiel was ready however, and quickly turned around to counter attack - only to find that Issei had used the same trick again. The fallen thought to himself, 'He's feinting me...again and again...what is he planning?'

After teleporting around for a minute, one of Issei's feints was different from a punch or a kick.

Kokabiel heard one word before he was blasted into the ground.

"Explosion!"

Apparently, due to the preferred style of the Red Dragon Emperor, the fallen angel had forgotten that he had other weapons in his arsenal.

Slowly getting up from the burns that attack had inflicted on him, Kokabiel started swearing at Issei in frustration. He had never planned to let the dragon land a serious hit on him.

Watching Issei not react to his provocations, he changed his expression.

"Kekekeke....you know..." Kokabiel's sinister smile unnerved Issei, albeit only slightly. "Do you remember the incident where your father died?"

The fallen imagined that behind the helmet, Issei was making a face of surprise and anger.

Meanwhile, Tiamat was perplexed.

"His father..." She muttered.

"Kyahahahaha! You probably think it was an incident,  right? But it was me! I sent two fallen angels to kill you and your entire family! Although they were stopped by a pack of angels sent by Gabriel, but they still got your pathetic father! You should thank me, you ungrateful lizard! It's because of me that you were able to get this strong!"

Kokabiel's laughter echoed throughout the interior of the barrier.

Grayfia, who had returned after a quick trip, was looking at the scene with a mortified face.

Tiamat herself was shaking in rage. Her senses urged her to charge at Kokabiel and claw at his skin. But she held herself back. Her interfering now would only be a nuisance to Issei.

The person in question was the only one not reacting to the information drop.

In fact, he wasn't moving either. He was perfectly still.

The fallen angel assumed the dragon was frozen in shock. He was going to use this opportunity to get a decisive hit on the lizard, or so he thought.

As soon as Kokabiel teleported behind Issei and slashed down on him, the dragon caught the arm and ripped it off.

"ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" The scream that followed didn't gain any pity from the spectators.

[Partner....]

Ddraig sounded confused. Not because Issei had almost won the fight, but for a whole another reason.

Issei opened his helmet to show his face to his foe.

His expression wasn't blank, it wasn't angry, it wasn't sad.

He was bored.

"You thought I would jump around in a rage after hearing that...and dropped your guard. What a disappointment." He spoke as he caught the remaining arm of Kokabiel trying desperately to land a hit.

Issei turned the fallen around and grabbed onto his wings. They looked soft, but were in reality sharp enough to cut through the bone.

Still, Issei grabbed them. And with bloodied fists, he began pulling them.

"You are exactly the person I thought you were, Kokabiel." Issei's foot made its way to the enemy's back, giving him more stability. "You assume what you know is true. What makes you think you can trust your eyes? Your ears? Your...pitiful senses?"

"S-Stop it-ARGHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! STOP IT YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!!"

"You only know the half-truth, Kokabiel. And yet, you were arrogant enough to charge into MY territory uninvited." Issei's eyes had turned into that of a reptile. His eyes resembled a Dragon. "The only one that's allowed to do what they want...

...are Dragons."

*Tear*

Kokabiel's wings were torn off his back.

He was blithering in pain on the ground, trying to reach his only arm behind his back to treat the damage.

Neither Tiamat, nor Grayfia had the courage to interrupt Issei as he raised his arm and prepared to finish him off.

But before he could do that, a silver-haired woman appeared in front of him, standing on top of Kokabiel.

Realizing who she was, Issei smiled and lowered his arm, dismissing his armor.

"So, Azazel wants him back I assume?" He didn't receive an answer.

The woman, with beauty rivaling that of Tiamat's, was looking down in shame. As if she lamented the action she was here to take.

She herself would argue she was more attractive than Tiamat, but that's besides the point.

Issei took a moment to admire her curves in casual clothing, a shirt and jeans.

"You...are the White Dragon Empress!" Grayfia shouted.

"Issei! Be careful!" Tiamat screamed as she dismissed the barrier, knowing it would be useless and instead moved to cover Issei.

But the Empress, who was supposed to be Issei's rival, started crying instead of attacking.

"Why are you crying?" Issei asked with a sigh.

"Idiot! I'm crying because you aren't!" Even her voice was as angelic as her appearance. Her short silver hair was mesmerizing everyone around her. "He's the one that killed your father!"

Issei sighed again, "Even if that's true, what of it? I'm not one to go mad for revenge, especially when the revenge won't undo the crime. Now, stop crying and do your job." He moved closer and wiped her tears with his shirt.

The maid and the blue dragon were staring at their interaction with question marks above their head.

"I'm sorry-!" Were the last words that the intruder spoke before putting the knocked out Kokabiel on her back and teleporting away.

Meanwhile, Issei just looked at the sky with a longing in his eyes, "I should visit her soon. Let's go home, Tiamat."

The dragons took the human nun and walked home.

The maid, who was left alone at the destroyed Academy, was deeply engrossed in her thoughts.

"His strength...his thoughts about revenge...and his interaction with his rival...."

Grayfia's expression was begging someone to help her organize her mind, she wasn't supposed to think this much in her profession.

"I must report this to Master as soon as possible!"
