Chapter 33 What are you doing here?

Before Issei could even ask what that really meant, a magical circle opened in the clubroom. It wasn't one that showed fire but yet a full blue one which made Issei wonder who would come through.

In the middle of the clubroom, appeared a beautiful maid.

She appeared to be a few years older than the most who had gathered there, save for the exception of Kalawarner.

Issei guessed that her age didn't betray her looks as some would guess she was in her early twenties.

Her hair was long and silver in a long braid on each side. Blue bows complimented those at the ends. The rest was let down with smaller braids. The uniform appeared to be a blue and white French maid outfit with long sleeves and a white maid headband. Despite the uniform, it didn't hinder her beauty.

Issei hoped that Rias would have informed her about the circumstances or that the maid in question wouldn't ask about it.

"My lady. It has been a while."

"Grayfia. What are you doing here?"

Rias asked in a sort of disbelief.

Her eyes settled on the four who felt the incessant need to be stretched to the wall as Issei walked in front of them.

His eyes calculated over this woman. She was strong.

No, just strong. She was powerful. Whoever this Grayfia was, it was clear she was one of the strongest if not one of the most beautiful women Issei had ever seen.

But she was here for a good reason given the fact that respect came from the Devils gathered around in the room.

"Might I ask what is going on around here? Your parents have allowed overseeing this town as long you kept our presence known."

Issei knew that he was walking into a lion's mouth but he wouldn't take crap from just anyone.

"Isn't it in the nature of Devils to talk and tempt others into making agreements? If you are mentioning the ones standing there, that is because Rias and I made an agreement."

The eyes of Grayfia settled on Issei who had a calm look on his face.

"And who might you be?"

"Issei Hyoudou." His gauntlet appeared on his left arm.

"This generation's Hakuryuukou."

Grayfia looked horribly surprised from seeing what Issei was. The bigger question was why Rias was affiliated with him.

"Oh, and what is the reason that the Hakuryuukou also known as the White Saint, is doing in this city?"

Issei had to remember to lecture Rias about this.

She could have told some people about him.

"That's a long story. Very short is that I came back home. But you're not here for me. You're here for someone else and that person has asked me to help her." His eyes signaled to Rias who stood ready as they watched the maid size up the boy before her.

She could very easily fight this boy and walk away from him. Grayfia knew that. But when she saw Issei, the Ultimate [Queen] felt something in her guts.

This fight would cost her more than she would like.

"I am, yes. Please to make your acquaintance, Issei Hyoudou-san." Bowing to him, Grayfia made her way to Rias.

The eyes narrowed at the girl she viewed as a little sister.

"Rias-ojousama. I am here on behalf of myself, Sirzechs-sama, and your parents. The talks of your engagement. It has been decided that it'll be stepped up a notch."

Rias didn't let the shock wash over her but her eyes desperately looked for Issei. The Dragon hadn't moved and he stood there. Ready and nothing betrayed that he wouldn't make good on his promise.

"My parents and sister are moving too fast on this. I have always said that I wouldn't marry Riser. And I was promised that I would have until I graduated."

"Things have changed." It wasn't an excuse and Rias knew it.

"Unless you, ojousama have a suitable suitor, the house has decided to make things official with the son of Phenex."

Rias couldn't believe how they could just do this.

Throw her entire life away.

Just like that.

Her life, her happiness.

Did it mean anything to her family?

"What else do you bring to my door, besides this news, Grayfia?" Rias did not show the effect that the words brought on her.

The maid had expected this reaction. Her master put her in a fickle spot.

"That, in case you would refuse, this could be settled with a Rating Game. I have only come here to pass you the news. But be warned, Rias-ojousama, that Riser Phenex-sama isn't obliged to comply with those demands. That is all."

The circle opened and the maid disappeared through it as if she was never in the clubroom. As soon as that happened, Rias crashed down on the desk. Issei had never imagined that someone like her could cry but the long wails made him reconsider that thought.

Her entire Peerage came around her. Koneko put her head on her lap while Akeno rubbed her shoulders while Kiba took care of her back.

It barely had any effect on her.

Even the Fallen Angels and Asia were taken aback. The sweet Nun even walked over and softly rubbed her arm. Rias barely recognized that comfort as she felt her world sinking down.

Issei felt his heart tugged out of his chest by her reaction. How much did Rias despise this Riser to let herself go like this?

Putting a heavy, comforting hand on her shoulder, Rias looked up to Issei who had a kind and warm smile on his face.

Wiping away her tears from her eyes, they spoke from bottomless desperation and despair.

It was like he was the only thing that could save her.

"That does it. I am going to get you out of this marriage, even if it kills me." Issei's declaration was solemnly spoken and all beings in the room agreed to those words.

He remembered the words that Grayfia spoke about this arrangement.

"Rias, this Rating Game is the only shot we'll have. A shot in the dark far as I can see. As you remember, I'm not your servant and despite it all, I won't become yours. But any shot on how we get this guy agreeing with this Game?"
