Dropped
As Cyrus delved deeper into the gate, he encountered a new decision point with four options to choose from. He couldn't help but wonder if successfully completing each room would continuously provide him with additional choices.
The first option in the top left corner showed a sinister-looking skeleton head similar to the one he had encountered in the first room. Based on his experience, Cyrus guessed that it was most likely a monster of a similar level to the skeleton monster he had previously encountered.
On the middle left, he saw the image of a bonfire which was probably a rest area where he could recover his strength before moving forward. However, Cyrus was confident in his passive skill that allowed him to regenerate his health quickly. So, he thought that this option would be tempting for other hunters but not for him as he considered it a waste of time.
In the middle right corner, there was another interrogation symbol that indicated the option might be similar to the previous room, with some sort of challenge or puzzle to solve.
The final option was in the top right corner, showing a picture of what appeared to be a treasure chest without any trap icons, unlike the previous room. Cyrus suspected that this option was the safest but also potentially the least rewarding.
Cyrus took his time to evaluate each option carefully, weighing the potential risks and rewards of each path. He knew that the wrong decision could be costly, but he couldn't afford to waste any more time in the dangerous gate. As he weighed his choices, he came to the realization that he needed to be bold and take risks to succeed. Ultimately, he decided to go for the treasure chest, hoping it would provide him with valuable information about the room for future floors.
As Cyrus made his way through the unknown room, his eyes caught sight of a large treasure chest at the far end. It was a sight to behold with its intricate golden patterns and gargantuan size, enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat. The chest seemed to be calling for him, tempting him to come closer and see what lay inside. The aura it gave off was one of grandeur and mystery, leaving Cyrus with an intense curiosity that he could not ignore.
As he approached the chest, he noticed that it was adorned with elaborate carvings and seemed to be made of an exotic and rare wood. The chest's lid was securely fastened with a heavy lock, only adding to the intrigue of what could be contained within. The chest's sheer size suggested that whatever was inside must be incredibly valuable, rare, and possibly even magical.
Cyrus's curiosity got the best of him, and he couldn't resist the urge to open the chest. But when he tried to unlock it, he failed to make any progress. Then, out of nowhere, a notification window popped up, presenting him with a tempting challenge. The message offered him a chance to participate in the Treasure Trove and receive a reward appropriate to the challenge's difficulty. The challenge would test his skills and determination, and he had to choose wisely:
[You have decided to undertake the daunting challenge of the Treasure Trove, a challenge that promises a reward worthy of the level of difficulty you select. Be sure to choose your difficulty carefully, as the level you choose will determine the quality of the prize you will receive upon completion. The difficulty levels are as follows:
1-Easy - Completion of this level will earn you a common item.
2-Normal - Completion of this level will earn you a common to magic item.
3-Hard - Completion of this level will earn you a magic to rare item.
4-Merciless - Completion of this level will earn you a unique item.
Choose wisely. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.]
Cyrus stared at the screen in front of him, weighing his options. He had heard about the concept of the Treasure Trove in games before, a dangerous challenge that only the bravest and strongest players would usably dare to undertake. The rewards were said to be legendary, but the risks were equally high.
Cyrus wasn't content with the easy or normal difficulties; he craved a challenge and sought out something more valuable than a rare item. He set his sights on the merciless difficulty, which offered a unique item as a reward. Possessing such an item would mean unlimited growth for him, and he felt that this was necessary to avenge his parents' deaths on the most deadly gate level. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he understood that strength was reserved for the bold and courageous. The risk was worth taking, and he was ready to face it head-on.
Cyrus carefully considered his next move, knowing that it could determine his fate in the battle ahead. He decided to invest his ten attribute points into his vitality stats, hoping to increase his chances of surviving the imminent fight.
[Vitality: 25 -> 35]
[Health: 250 ->350]
He took a deep breath and pressed the button for the merciless difficulty, feeling a surge of excitement and anticipation. He knew that he was taking a risk, but he also knew that the rewards would be worth it as long as he survived the ordeal.
[You have selected the 'Merciless' Difficulty!]
Cyrus stood in place, taking a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come.The ground trembled, and a dense fog engulfed the area. From the mist, a towering figure emerged, standing over eight feet tall. The creature's armor was black as obsidian, with intricate silver engravings adorning every inch of its body. It held a massive two-handed sword that seemed to glow with an ominous aura.
But what made Cyrus's blood run cold was the sight of the creature's face. Its skull was visible through the helmet's eye slits, with empty black sockets where the eyes should have been. A miasma of decay emanated from the it, and the armor clinked and creaked with every movement, like rusted chains.
As it took a step forward, the creature's armored boots crushed the ground beneath them, sending cracks spiderwebbing out from the point of impact. The knight's hands, which had looked skeletal before, now appeared more like claws, with pointed fingers that looked sharp enough to slice through flesh.
Cyrus tried to steady his breathing, but his heart was pounding in his chest as he took in the ghastly sight before him. The being in front of him was a creature of nightmares, a monster that belonged in stories of horror and dark magic.
