“First of all, just who is this mother of mine that you keep on mentioning?” Mildred asked, sitting upright.
“Urella Green,” Elliot answered as he sat down opposite her. “Do you know her?” he asked.
“It rings a bell,” Mildred responded. “Does she own a chain of furniture and décor shops?”
“Well, yes,” Elliot responded. “She’s said to be a good businesswoman. I don’t know business people and I’m not into home décor,” he added.
“But you also said that she was a witch?” Mildred asked with a serious frown between her elegant brows.
“She’s rather well-known as one,” Elliot responded in surprise. “But then, maybe that’s only in certain circles, like on the other side of the forest,” he added with a thoughtful look in his eyes.
“So, how do you and these friends of yours know that she is my mother?” Mildred asked, looking at him steadily.
Elliot shifted around uncomfortably before clearing his throat.
“It’s actually complicated,” he began.
