Julietta bit on her fist to prevent herself from screaming. She slowly slid down to her hunches with her back against the wall because her knees were trembling suddenly. She tasted salt when she licked her lips and realized that tears were rolling down her cheeks.
After what felt like a very long moment, Julietta straightened up and looked around herself.
“Think, think, think,” she said to herself out loud. “There seems to be no more bolts of lighting, so it’s safe to go to the van. Should I drive myself home or go to George?”
She began to walk again, even though her legs felt wobbly.
“I have to get home, even if Raine turned out to be a wolf,” she said to herself. “That can be dealt with tomorrow, but now I must remain sane and get home. Don’t think about Raine now,” she urged herself.
When she reached the truck, she opened the door on the driver’s side.
