Chapter 47: Raine Provoked Beyond Control

“Well, I can’t really say, since it’s years since I was close with a woman, if that’s what you mean,” Raine responded to Julietta’s question. He held her at arms’ length and looked her in the eyes. “But there’s lots of time to find out about that,” he added.

Julietta became worried again. If it was years since he had last had a woman in his life, then it could very well be because he was cursed for all that time. But was it all of thirty years?

She didn’t feel bold enough to ask him exactly how long ago this had been.

“I can’t deal with such hard facts now,” she told herself as she returned his gaze levelly. “I need the comfort and safety of my own bedroom,” she thought.

“I will take into account everything that you have said and I will tell you what I’ve decided,” Raine stated. “Just give me your phone number, okay?” he asked.

“Alright then, give me your number so that I can call you and you can save mine,” Julietta responded.
