Raine was looking at Sheila intently. Julietta could not see his facial expression so well in the dusk light.
“Elliot told Julietta that he saw a wolf turn into a man out here yesterday,” Sheila responded to Raine’s urgent question. “Strange, isn’t it? Do you think that he might have imagined it?” she asked, looking up into Raine’s face.
“Well, it’s debatable,” Raine responded. “It might have been an overactive imagination on his part, but it could also be true.” He looked at Julietta at this point, but she could still not guess his state of mind. He had looked shocked at Sheila’s statement about the werewolf spotting. But, was that because he was guilty or because he was shocked at the thought of werewolves?
“He sounded very sure about what he’d seen, didn’t he, Julie?” Sheila asked Julietta.
“Well, it was so real to him that he actually passed out from the shock,” Julietta responded.
