Nowhere in the neighborhood was safe, as his charm spread across the block. Karden swapped recipes with Frank and introduced the Westmores to a dance troupe searching for a place to practice. Eleanor fawned over his work. The twins stood enthralled with his stories of travel. Even the perpetually silent Nathan appeared impressed, though Daniel chalked that up to the fortune Kar spent on flowers.
It didn’t help that the man flirted and wooed everyone he met. Daniel breathed a quiet sigh of relief that his mother and Aunt Aditi were still abroad, but everyone else seemed overjoyed to let Kar win over their little world. Daniel closed his eyes, wondering how much longer he could hold against the inevitable tide of will that was Karden. If only the Daniel had the will to just throw him out for good.
