Car Crash!

Jazz.

Great for relaxing but not usually people's workout music. Except for me. workouts usually pump people up but for me, they calm me down. And even that is surprising considering I'm always calm and this manages to calm me down even more. The jazz echoes through the almost empty gym. Bouncing off the walls and equipment, including the treadmill that hasn't been touched since 3500. I lay down on the bench, the bar directly in front of my eyes. I've done this a million times before but every time it seems like I don't know what I'm doing. I exhaled and closed my eyes.

"U sure u can do this?" June asked, sitting on one side of the bar. "I've literally done 200 pounds before," I said. "No, I mean look at your sister," she said pointing to the other side of the bar where my little sister sat smiling her annoying smile. I think she's ten now, but she acts six. "She's 50 pounds lighter than me," june said.

"And look at your girlfriend, she's a fat bitch." my sister said back laughing. June pushed her off the bar "Shut up Chaka".

"No it's fine, the weight difference is the challenge." I explained to them "Now shut up and let me concentrate." I rested my hands on the bar, griping it.

I slowly pushed the bar up and off the rack. I brought it over my face and slowly let it fall then pushed it back up and onto the rack. "Did you just do that?" June said, amazed.

"No you're dreaming," I responded sarcastically. "Since when did u get so strong?" she asked "since I started working out, which was years ago," I said.

"Whatever, I'm gonna go make some cookies with your sister. Are we still going to the beach?" June asked.

"Yeah of course. Let me just get my punches in and ill be in the car." I said.

They left the gym to go bake. They've been doing this for about a year now, ever since June started babysitting Chaka and later me hanging out with her eventually asking her out they bake cookies every Friday and then I take June to the beach. We usually build sand castles until the sun goes down and when it's cold we drink hot chocolate until we fall asleep in the car unless it's the first of the month, I usually get lucky on the first of the month. But no matter what the weather is we always go get ice cream after.

I walked up to the punching bag and started practicing my jab form. Occasionally swinging a hook.

"You know damn well you're not going to be fist-fighting in battle." June's voice came from behind me. "Any fighter would just slice ur arm off. Plus you suck, you can't even hit me"

I threw a punch in her direction and she moved out of the way.

"Come on, I know you're not that slow, except in the head." She said laughing. I smile. I threw a hook at her hip and it collided with her body. Then I attacked her legs and flipped her onto my shoulder.

"HEY," she yelled. I carried her out of the gym and put her down in the elevator. June leaned against my arm. "Can I drive?" she asked "You know you don't have a license," I said. "Yeah but I know how to," she stated. I shook my head, and she pouted. "We can play music in the car" I added. Her face instantly brightened.

Now my dad's rich. But I'm not. So I still drive my Audi xr. It rides smoothly and I've never had problems with it, but everyone in hovercars always side-eyes me. We load into the car and June instantly connected her phone to the car. I already know exactly what she's gonna play because she plays it every chance she gets. As the voice of Conan grey came from the speakers I could see her instantly relax, putting her feet on the dashboard. I let the car get to top speed as we flew down the open road.

The sky started to turn orange as the sun went down. I closed my eyes and rolled the window down. The wind hit my face as I relaxed. Then june grabbed my arm. "MILES LOOK OUT-"

BAM! The car slammed into something on the road, spinning it into a tree. The airbags shot out and the radio cut off.

I took off my seat belt and glanced out of the window trying to see what we hit.

"I think it was an animal or something" I started

"Miles!" June whimpered. I turned. Her left leg was bent backward. "SHIT!" I yelled.

I tried to open the door but it was stuck. I kicked at it until the door flew off. I slid across the hood of the car and helped June out of the car. "I can't walk miles" i put her onto my back and ran over to the thing we hit. It was a lot bigger than I thought but it was definitely dead.

"Miles is that a spider," June whispered into my ear. "No," I said unsure "they can't be that big"

"Miles yes they can."

"Those things were wiped out decades ago" I responded taking a closer look at the thing. It had 8 long legs and multiple eyes.

"I think he's back," June said starting to cry. "Miles it hurts."

"Huh," I said still studying the creature. "IT HURTS" she winced. "OH yeah hang on." I took a picture of the spider and started jogging down the road. Then I heard something behind me. I quickly turned to see nothing. The spider was gone. I started sprinting back home with june on my back.
