Cultivation

Inside the infirmary.

"Let's wait for the healer to arrive." One of the servants who looked after Nicholas spoke to his mate.

"Understood." The other servant nodded before his young master was moved to a more comfortable bed.

After that they were ready to stand guard when they heard a faint voice behind them.

"Stop. Give me the materials from the shelves and they will be free from their homework."

Both servants turned to see Nicholas trying to get up.

The younger servant looked at the middle-aged servant as he didn't know what to do.

On the one hand, there were the orders of the third elder and on the other, those of the young master.

They could not disobey any of them.

The middle-aged servant having more experience just nodded at him in response.

Between them they looked for the tools and ingredients pointed out by Nicholas before saying goodbye.

Making sure there was no one else in the room, Nicholas heaved a weary sigh.

"My injuries are more serious than before."

Nicholas checked his wounds with some concern.

He collected the medicines in front of him before making an ointment that could help him.

After a few minutes of the creation process, Nicholas managed to create a simple medicine.

As soon as all of his external wounds were covered by the ointment he began to meditate.

A faint aura of spiritual energy was felt around him.

His wounds began to heal with incredible speed.

After a few minutes, Nicholas was covered in cold sweat.

However, his condition was better than before.

He jumped up from his seat before dressing in a clean new robe.

After that he left the infirmary before heading to his room.

On the way he met the servants of his family, who bowed in respect.

"He was injured again today?" he asked his partner, a middle-aged cook, after Nicholas left.

"Yes..." she answered.

"I hope that he can regain his shine from the past. He is a talented young man."

"I think the same. It's a shame."

After ten minutes of walking, Nicholas reached his residence.

It was a small two-story house.

Outside there were two large guards protecting the place.

As soon as they saw his young master they stepped aside.

Nicholas entered his residence and went to his room.

After sitting on top of his bed in the lotus position he began to meditate.

At various points in his room were spiritual energy stones.

Spiritual energy stones were a precious material that helped energy gather in a single point.

Due to this important factor, Nicholas's room was richer in spiritual energy than the outside.

However, no matter how much spiritual energy there was in the room, Nicholas could not cultivate successfully.

"Why? Why is it so difficult for me to cultivate? I don't understand…" Nicholas thought helplessly.

The cultivation process was based on gathering spiritual energy from the environment, refining it in the physical body, and storing it in the core.

Nicholas could feel all the spiritual energy in the environment, but every time he tried to refine it in his body that energy was reduced by 90% leaving a minuscule amount for himself.

Only after several years of storing this energy in his core was he able to reach the first stage of the body refinement realm.

But with a miniscule amount of energy he couldn't go any further.

It is known that each stage of each realm the energy needed to advance will be higher than the previous one, but at this rate it would take hundreds of years for Nicholas to be considered a decent martial artist.

Nicholas looked through his window at the dark sky.

He had spent the entire day cultivating.

"It's night, I must have dinner."

Saying these words, Nicholas took a quick shower before going down to the first floor and receiving food from him.

The servants were efficient, so before long he had some supper before returning to his room.

As soon as he came in, he lay down on his bed and started to sleep.

It was common knowledge that when one cultivated it was not necessary to sleep because his body was full of energy.

But this case didn't work for Nicholas, since most of the energy he collected during cultivation was lost for some strange reason.

Although he asked for help from many doctors, they could never solve his case and simply dismissed it as a lack of talent, although it was not like that in the past.
