CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

I looked over at Chloe, she was stunning her sky blue eyes and dark long hair complimented each other, exotic almost.

She talked with Hayley as she rubbed her pregnant stomach, where the twins were growing inside her.

She must be exhausted, I know how high stress this business is, I know why she did it but how did she succeed so brilliantly.

"You love her?" He nodded towards Chloe in question.

"More than anything," I replied.

Jason stood there pretending not to notice, this guy seems over protective for someone who is only a friend.

I glared slightly across the room where Jason was standing.

Something seems off, who is he to Chloe?

"So where will you be staying for the time being, you know, now that you can't go home?" I asked, looking back at my brother.

"I'll be staying here," he replied with a small smirk on his face.

"In the garage?" I questioned incredulously.

"No, as in with Jason, his parents went away and he said it would be cool if I stayed with him for now," he corrected.

"Oh, I see." I acknowledged slowly.

"If that's cool with you, I won't if you aren't okay with it," he continued, half laughing.

"No, no it's okay seems cool with me," I said, with a smile.

"Are you sure, I can find somewhere else-," Jasper began.

"No it's alright really, I rather you hear than on the street." I bumped his arm playfully, as he smiled back.

"Alright I'm going to see when I can get out of these clothes," I said, standing with my arms slightly away from my sides, I felt like a Halloween scarecrow.

"Yeah that might be a good idea." Jasper cringed at me, we both truly hated the sight of blood.

We laughed as I walked over to Chloe and Hayley, still arms slightly raised.

Chloe raised a curious eyebrow trying not to laugh at my stance.

"Is it alright if we head out, I have to get out of these clothes and try to get my car back," I said slyly.

"Yeah that's fine," she responded, smirking a little.

"Thank you," I said through a sigh and nodded at Jasper indicating that we were leaving, he nodded back in understanding.

We walked back out to the gravel driveway, and into the car, Chloe slipped her hand into mine.

"I can't wait to get a shower," I said exhausted, leaning back against the car seat and stretching my legs out.

"I bet, after almost a year the way you would, that would have been the first thing I would have done," Hayley said cringing.

"Yeah, I'm sorry for the detour," Chloe said regretfully.

"No it's alright, I'm glad to know what you've been up to." I replied with my eyes closed.

There was silence after I said that, and I opened one eye, Chloe looking down with regret and Hayley eyeing me through the mirror.

I sighed. I know I messed up after saying that.

"I mean that in a loving way, I'm not angry I promise." I said caressing her thumb with my own.

She nodded slowly.

I closed my eyes again and fell asleep, slumped back against the seat Chloe's hand still in mine.

Chloe's P.O.V

Sitting in the back of the car with Colby passed out beside me as I held his hand, as Hayley continued to drive us home.

"You okay?" Hayley whispered, loud enough for me to hear.

"Yeah, just been a long day," I said through a sigh, my hand in my pocket with the ultrasound pictures crinkled in my grasp.

We finally reached home, I shook Colby awake. "Colby, we're home, it's time to wake up," he jumped a bit as he came to.

"Alright, alright," he said getting out of the car and walking off towards the door.

Hayley eyed me again.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing," she sighed as she turned off the car.

I rolled my eyes, took off my seat belt and got out of the car after him.

He was waiting outside the building, his eyes closed and dumb founded as he was struggling to stay awake.

Taking a sip of his coffee with his eyes still closed.

Hayley walked up and passed us to unlock the door of the building.

The keys jingled in her grasp, opening and holding open the door.

I must have been looking at him with a strange look on my face because he repositioned himself and cleared his throat as we began to walk to the apartment.

"I have to find my car, after my shower," he said barely audible through his tired face.

"Yeah, remember how I said men took it away?" I said slowly as I made my way up to what happened.

"Yeah," he said slowly back.

"I kind of lied. Truth is when Lucey left, she stole your car,"I said faster now.

"Wh-what, why didn't you say that in the first place?" He trembled stopping in his tracks.

"Too many people were around, and too many questions all at once," I stuttered out.

"That had all our money in it, I saved that money for years!" He exclaimed anxiously.

"Wait you mean in the suitcase?" I asked.

"Yes, that was thousands of dollars, Chloe." He said upset.

"Follow me." I said after Hayley opened the door.

We walked to the storage closet, and took out the suitcase.

I placed it onto the sofa and unzipped it and opened it wide, all the money was still there, not a dollar touched.

He stood there flabbergasted, he took me into his arms and relaxed.

"Y-you didn't use it?" He sounded more hurt than anything.

I shook my head before answering.

"It isn't mine, so I didn't touch it I'd figure I'd wait for you to wake up." I responded relaxing into his arms.

"What if I didn't wake up?" He asked his hand on the top of my stomach.

"Then it would have stayed in that suitcase," I said easily.

"You wouldn't have used it?" Worry set into Colbys voice as he spoke.

I turned around to face him, my hands on his chest looking into his eyes, those deep pools of honey eyes.

"No because it wouldn't have felt right to me." I explained softly.

He nodded and placed his forehead and closed his eyes.

"I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too, now go get your shower, I'm going to put this away." I said turning and zipping the suitcase back up.

He picked up the suitcase, and walked back, placing it in the closet.

"No more heavy lifting, you will hurt yourself." He said gently.

"Okay," I said quietly, he turned and headed to the bathroom closing the door behind him.

I got up and wobbled over to the closet once more, to a box in the far right, it had Colbys clean clothes I had just bought recently.

'I hope they fit him,' I thought to myself.

Hayley walked back in the living room, car keys in hand.

"Going somewhere?" I asked as I took a shirt out of the box.

"Going to see mom for a bit she's been worried and wants me to check in, and she insists I go to her." She rolled her eyes, I nodded casually.

"Anyways I'll be back in like three hours, if you need anything text me." She called out heading towards the door.

"Will do." I responded as she left.

The shower turned on, which means he's finally in the shower. I placed his clothes on the coffee table.

I walked to the extra bedroom on the right, and slowly opened it, pink and blue stripes on the walls, two cribs on both sides, and a rocking chair.
