Tian Meng's exasperated voice rang out. He had finally found a suitable successor, yet someone dared to step in and pick the fruit halfway!
Within Huo Yuhao's spiritual world, a gray bead emerged and hovered silently above the sea of spirituality. Below it, ten balls of light radiated golden brilliance—the original power of the Tianmeng Ice Silkworm.
Tianmeng Ice Silkworm, shocked and enraged, was about to mobilize its power to confront the mysterious gray bead when it emitted several gray air currents. These currents condensed into the figure of an old man draped in a black robe. In a hoarse voice, the man spoke:
"Big bug, calm down. I mean no harm."
A tremendous wave of soul power emanated from the gray bead. Tianmeng Ice Silkworm briefly sensed it, and its expression immediately changed—this power far exceeded anything it could match.
Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao had successfully integrated the first soul ring that Tian Meng had provided. With a thought, he entered his spiritual world, where he found Tianmeng Ice Silkworm facing off against the black-robed old man.
Is this the Scourge of the Undead, the Holy Necromancer, Ilex? Huo Yuhao observed the man. Although he didn't know much about him, based on the discussions he had heard, this man seemed to be his mentor and harbored no ill will.
"Old sir, who are you?" Huo Yuhao asked cautiously.
The old man's gaze shifted to Huo Yuhao's eyes, and his body trembled slightly.
"Strange, very strange," the man muttered to himself.
Huo Yuhao's heart skipped a beat. Can he see something in my Sharingan?
The old man smiled and said, "Don't worry, little one. I mean no harm. I'm merely a remnant soul from another world, seeking a place to rest. I never thought I'd encounter such a unique individual as you. Your power is vast, and your potential is extraordinary. If you continue along this path, you may even see through life and death itself. However, your path is extreme, driven by fear, anger, and hatred. This will hinder your growth in the long run. Hatred can provide strength, but it can also lead to ruin."
Seeing through life and death? Huo Yuhao thought, astonished. Could he be talking about the Samsara Eye's reincarnation technique?
The old man continued, "To become truly powerful, you need harmony between yin and yang."
Beside them, Tianmeng Ice Silkworm was dumbfounded. What kind of heaven-defying martial spirit is this? Resurrection? What the hell? I've lived a million years for what? The Ice Silkworm couldn't believe what it was seeing. Did I find a treasure without realizing it?
Huo Yuhao clasped his hands and asked, "Old sir, how can I help you?"
The old man sighed. "I'm just a remnant soul now, and all I hope is to pass on what I've learned. Little one, your power transcends this world, and it resonates with my own Dao. Fate has brought us together. Would you be willing to become my disciple and learn what I have to teach?"
Without hesitation, Huo Yuhao knelt and said solemnly, "Old sir, I am Huo Yuhao, and I am willing to be your disciple."
The old man looked at him, visibly moved by his sincerity. "Fate has been kind to me, granting me such a good disciple at the end of my life." He lifted Huo Yuhao to his feet. "Do you remember my name? The Holy Deathly Lord, Alex?"
"Yes, Master, I remember," Huo Yuhao replied.
"Good," Alex said, "since you are my disciple, it is my duty to remove any hidden dangers within you."
With a wave of his hand, Alex drew out the extreme spiritual energy buried deep in Huo Yuhao's mind and compressed it into a small ball. Huo Yuhao immediately felt a sense of relief, as though a weight had been lifted. The depression brought on by Sasuke's memories vanished.
"Now, I'll teach you a technique to strengthen your soul," Alex said, but then chuckled, "Oh, I almost went to the wrong set! This is the method of soul-forging."
He proceeded to teach Huo Yuhao the soul-forging technique, explaining how it would enhance his willpower and protect him from the negative emotions tied to the evolution of his Sharingan.
As Alex's voice faded, his figure dissolved into gray air currents and returned to the gray bead hovering above the sea of consciousness.
Huo Yuhao knelt respectfully before the bead, deeply grateful for such a mentor. This is a true master, he thought. Not like that so-called "master" who only knows how to run away.
At this moment, Tianmeng Ice Silkworm, who had been watching in stunned silence, finally spoke: "Yuhao, what just happened? Are all humans from the Douluo Continent this... strange?"
Huo Yuhao smiled. "Don't worry, Brother Fei Meng. I'll take you flying from now on!"
Tian Meng's face turned red. "What 'Brother Fei Meng'? I'm not fat! Call me Brother Tian Meng!"
"Alright, Brother Fei Meng!" Huo Yuhao teased.
Suddenly, a voice called out from the forest.
"Xiao Yuhao!"
Huo Yuhao's ears perked up. Was it Beibei and Tang Ya?
He opened his eyes and leaned against a tree, waiting as two familiar figures appeared from the forest.
Tang Ya, upon seeing him, rushed over. "Xiao Yuhao, are you okay? We saw something strange in the sky just now. What happened?"
Beibei followed behind her, looking concerned.
"I'm fine," Huo Yuhao replied. "Just meditating."
Tang Ya glanced at the wind baboon's corpse beside him. "Did you kill this?"
Huo Yuhao nodded. "Yes, it tried to attack me, so I had no choice."
Tang Ya frowned. "Strange, we saw something like thunder... did I imagine it?"
Beibei, noticing the absence of a spirit ring around the wind baboon, asked, "Did you... not absorb the spirit ring?"
Huo Yuhao, concealing the truth about Tianmeng Ice Silkworm and Alex, nodded. "I did. A white ring appeared after I killed it, so I absorbed it."
Beibei and Tang Ya exchanged glances. Tang Ya, in her usual blunt manner, said, "You absorbed such a trashy ring? That's not good for your future growth."
Beibei quickly interjected, "What Xiaoya means is that you could have absorbed a better one."
Realizing her mistake, Tang Ya quickly apologized. "I didn't mean it like that, Xiao Yuhao."
Huo Yuhao, familiar with Tang Ya's low emotional intelligence, simply smiled and stood up, allowing a white soul ring to appear around him.
Both Beibei and Tang Ya were momentarily taken aback but brushed off their suspicions.
"By the way," Tang Ya said, "we wanted to ask you something. You're a soul master now. What are your plans?"
Huo Yuhao's face darkened as memories of the White Tiger Duke's Mansion resurfaced. He clenched his fists and said, "My goal is to become a powerful soul master."
Tang Ya's eyes lit up. "Do you know about the Tang Sect?"
