Chapter 30: Herrscher Training.

Chapter 30: Herrscher Training.

It was a sunny morning, with the warm, gentle golden light from the sun casting a glow over the modern city of Japan. The gentle chirping of birds added a sense of harmony and peace to the morning atmosphere.

Huo Yuhao and Huo Yun'er were sleeping in their bed, with Yuhao being used as a body pillow by Yun'er. Her strawberry-blond hair was messy, and some drool had escaped from her pink lips onto the soft pillow they shared.

Some strands of Yun'er's beautiful strawberry-blond hair grazed Yuhao's nose, stirring him awake. He opened his unusual but captivating eyes and stared at his mother's adorable face. She looked endearing with her messy bed hair and awkward sleeping position.

'My OP mother can't be this adorable, haha,' he joked to himself as he freed himself from Huo Yun'er's mama bear hug prison.

He stretched his arms, inhaled deeply, and exhaled, to help himself wake up. He made his way to the bathroom to freshen up.

Today was the day he would finally start his training on the path to becoming a Herrscher with the tuna, and he was quite excited about it.

A Herrscher. An absolute being that wielded authority over a specific domain, allowing them to dominate the battlefield with ease.

Each Herrscher held enough power to wipe out humanity and specialized in a particular field. If one failed in their mission to destroy humanity and the humans could counter that Herrscher, another Herrscher with a different authority would emerge, giving humanity no time to prepare and ultimately wiping them out. The final Herrscher was the most dangerous and the most lethal.

Why? You ask with a haughty tone while sipping your favorite soda to cope with the unbearable heat. And I answer with the same haughty tone while devouring my ice cream cone to cool myself, as the weather is utterly disgusting.

The final Herrscher, also known as the Herrscher of Finality, is the true Herrscher. All the previous Herrschers are merely projections of authority from the [Cocoon of Finality] into the real world, but the final Herrscher is different.

(An: Basically the [Cocoon of Finality] is the one true being in Honkai verse. It projects parts of its power into the real physical world through Herrscher cores and the Herrscher of Finality being directly under the command on the [Cocoon of Finality] she can be considered as the only true Herrscher.)

She was a true Herrscher who wields the power of all the previous Herrschers, along with an additional authority over Time. If the previous Herrschers were considered to be archbishops to the [Cocoon of Finality] then the Herrscher of Finality could be considered the saint appointed by the [Cocoon of Finality].

The [Cocoon of Finality] wanted to embrace all types of intelligent civilizations, a wish for companionship born from being the only being of its kind.

However, the difference between humanity and [Cocoon of Finality] was like the difference between the heaven and earth. An absolute being can't understand the thoughts of mortals and vice versa.

The [Cocoon of Finality] would set trials for intelligent civilizations to help them adapt and evolve so that they could reach its level and be embraced by it, so that it can finally feel companionship. And if humanity fails to be embraced by the [Cocoon of Finality], the world's time resets, and the trial begins again.

Huo Yuhao didn't know what his training would entail. He had the [Stigma of Finality] imprinted on him, so theoretically, he could become the new Herrscher of Finality.

However, Kiana wanted him to master the powers of the Herrschers individually before ascending to become the final Herrscher.

And she had a point. Having power and knowing how to use it are two different things. You can't just give a mortal the power of a god and expect them to wield it effectively.

Kiana wanted Yuhao to understand his powers and use them efficiently. There is nothing worse than having power and not knowing how to use it.

(An: I'm looking at all the fanfic authors who give their MCs great powers and then never use them or nerf them to oblivion.)

Huo Yuhao finished his business in the bathroom and went downstairs to prepare breakfast for himself, his mother, and the tuna living in his head.

"Good morning, Yuhao," the tuna greeted with a sleepy tone. It seemed she had just woken up.

"Good morning, Kiana. I'm surprised to see you awake this early," Yuhao replied, astonished to see the tuna up at this hour. She usually slept until the afternoon.

"Of course, today is a very important day. It's the start of your path to becoming a Herrscher," the tuna spoke in her usual lazy tone.

"As you read in the records in the stigma space, each Herrscher held incredible powers, and you, as the holder of the [Stigma of Finality], can use all the powers of the previous Herrschers," the tuna stated as she watched him prepare pancakes and wash fruit.

Huo Yuhao just nodded, focusing on preparing breakfast. He set up three plates and filled them with pancakes, omelets, and fruit. He covered Huo Yun'er's portion and sent Kiana's portion to the stigma space.

He carried his plate and made his way toward the magical world, Argena. He sat on the back porch of the house, gazing at the sea of trees before him as he started devouring his breakfast.

'Hmm, I wonder which Herrscher power I should learn first,' he pondered while eating a slice of strawberry.

The powers of Herrschers have unlimited potential, and it's up to the user to utilize them to their full extent. It was up to the user to bring out the full potential of this power as no Herrscher power was weak or useless, it was just in the wrong hands.

"So, what's the plan for today, Kiana?" he asked the Herrscher living in his head as he bit into his final pancake. You have to save the best pancake for last.

"Hmm, you'll follow your regular training schedule, but this time, you'll keep Honkai energy flowing throughout your body," the tuna instructed as she munched on her fruit.

"Honkai energy is corrosive by nature, but you have resistance to it. After acquiring [Honkai Circuits], you can manipulate Honkai energy more easily," she added, finishing her breakfast.

Kiana's idea was simple. Huo Yuhao would use his [Honkai Circuits] to manipulate Honkai energy and let it flow throughout his entire body, increasing his resistance so he could handle large amounts of Honkai energy at once.

Herrschers had cores to help them manipulate near-infinite amounts of Honkai energy, but Yuhao didn't have one yet. So, he would do it the old-fashioned way—building resistance bit by bit until he had enough to accept the powers of the Herrschers.

"Hmm, which Herrscher's powers should I train with first, Kiana?" he asked the tuna, curious about which Herrscher he would start with. The tuna remained silent for a moment before replying.

"The Second Herrscher, the Herrscher of the Void," she answered after thinking it over.

"You have many attack and defense skills, but if you face an enemy you can't handle, you won't be able to run." That was true; his class was centered around being a walking war machine, but in case he needed to escape, he would just use the Joestar secret technique.

"But that's not all. If speed were the only factor, I would have suggested the Herrscher of Thunder or the Herrscher of Wind." The Herrscher of Thunder had control over electromagnetism, and the Herrscher of Wind had control over ideal fluid manipulation.

Both could escape if needed, without anyone catching up to them. One could propel herself like a railgun, the other could create winds with zero energy loss in motion.

"But I'm more familiar with the powers of the Second Herrscher, so I can guide you to master them more efficiently," the tuna said in a neutral tone.

"Not only can the powers of the Second Herrscher allow you to escape if you need to, but they can also restrain your enemies with ease," the Herrscher of Finality noted to the blond boy, who nodded at her words.

The Second Herrscher had control over the Imaginary Number Space. What is the Imaginary Number Space? You ask with a confused look on your face, and I answer with the same confused look on mine.

(An: I hate the Honkai wiki. It's as useless as &*%$. I had to read the [Fate] wiki to understand what the Imaginary Space was and then dial it down to fit the Honkai universe.)

The Imaginary Number Space is a mathematically constant realm that exists outside the observable universe, where the laws of physics do not apply. It is a realm that exists in every world, every universe, across the vast omniverse. It was even possible to traverse worlds using the Imaginary Number Space.

Beings capable of accessing the Imaginary Space without being affected by it are Herrschers and those with certain dimensional control properties.

There are records of ordinary humans accessing the Imaginary Number Space due to their unique construction.

(An: Sakura Matou from [FATE].)

Time does not flow in the Imaginary Number Space; more specifically, time is irrelevant inside it.

Beings that hold authority over the Imaginary Number Space can construct subspaces using it as a base. The Herrscher of the Void could create subspace lances from the Imaginary Space that could not be defended against by any physical means.

(An: Sirin could create subspace lances that couldn't be defended against using any physical means. Welt had to use his Herrscher powers to defend against them.)

If Huo Yuhao could master control over the Imaginary Number Space, his arsenal of tricks would be endless. He could create and store constructs made from his class inside the Imaginary Number Space and launch them like a certain golden archer who loves playing with mud.

He could also trap his enemies inside a subspace created inside the Imaginary Number Space and dispose of them with ease. The possibilities were endless when it came to the Imaginary Number Space.

Huo Yuhao summoned his spear and began his basic morning training before starting his Herrscher training. After all he still wanted to be a lucky lancer.

...

"Man, I feel terrible," he commented as he lay on the ground, drenched in sweat.

If Kiana weren't a part of his soul, he would have suspected she was trying to kill him. His training was already intensive enough, but with the addition of Honkai energy, he felt like he was dying.

He used [Honkai Circuits] to augment his body throughout his training. It took some time to adjust to the sudden increase in strength, but he got over it quickly.

He wanted to train his control to perfection, so he constructed energy bullets from Honkai energy and used them in his weapons, which were created by his [Nanomancer] class. The result was several monster hordes obliterated by his bullets.

The [Nanomancer] class was special; it was an artificial class created by humans so that the holder could create constructs capable of injuring and killing monsters using modern weaponry.

Most fantasy worlds use cold weapons to defeat monsters and invaders, claiming modern weaponry is useless against such foes—but not for Huo Yuhao.

He hunted monsters like a starving wolf, raining Honkai bullets on them like a freedom fighter.

(An: Shout out to my American audience. They occupy the largest percentage of my reader analytics.)

So, why was he exhausted? Controlling large quantities of Honkai energy, molding them into bullets, and firing them at insane speeds took a toll on his mental strength, which is why he felt like dying.

But like a true gamer, he powered through it all for the drop items, magic cores, monster blood essences, and more. He was resembling a certain blond tyrant king more and more.

"That was quite the show, Yuhao. Well done," the tuna—no, the drill sergeant living in his head—complimented him as she drank her soda leisurely.

"Give yourself a 30-minute break before heading back to the Sage House." She mercifully bestowed this exhausted lamb her benevolent mercy as she finished her soda.

'An angel,' he thought as he saw Kiana grow a pair of wings from her back and a halo float over her head for a moment. Of course, it was just a hallucination.

He sat up, leaned against a tree, and rested, ready for the final part of his training for the day.

...

Huo Yuhao was sitting in the backyard of the Sage House. He allowed Honkai energy to course through his body at a faster rate so his body could adapt to Honkai energy circulation.

Kiana instructed him to always put pressure on his body and allow it to adapt to the corrosiveness of Honkai energy. His [Slime Physique] allowed him to adapt to any kind of bloodline or energy perfectly, without setbacks.

That was why he had four bloodlines in him without starting to look like an eldritch horror monster.

(An: In case you're wondering about the four bloodlines, here they are: [White Dragon of Nihility], [White Tiger], [Kaslana], and [Schariac].)

"Keep it up, Yuhao, and you'll gain the powers of the Herrscher of the Void within a year," the tuna commented as she watched him from the stigma space. Yuhao just nodded and continued circulating Honkai energy throughout his body.

'His physique is really a cheat on its own,' the tuna thought as she watched his body adapt to large quantities of Honkai energy with ease.

Slimes for the win.

'At this rate, he'll gain the powers of the Herrscher of the Void in a year. This is very fast,' the tuna continued her monologue as she gazed at him before shaking her head.

"Hao'er, it's time for dinner," Huo Yun'er called from the kitchen, causing him to pause his training and look up at the dark sky.

"Is it evening already?" He hadn't noticed the passage of time. He got up from his position and made his way toward the house, ready to call it a day—but not before calling for his status.

"Status," he muttered as he entered the house, and a dark screen with golden letters appeared in front of him.

(An: Italic bold text represents new additions and updates to his status, so you don't have to read everything.)

『...』

He nodded to himself as he closed the status window. He would have dinner with his mother and relax for a bit before going to bed and training with Kiana in the stigma space.

Always on that Spartan grind, lads.

(Chapter 30 finished.)

Author's Note:

Phew, this chapter is about 2.6k words without the author's note. It took longer than usual because of the research I had to do on the Herrscher of the Void.

I went with the Herrscher of the Void because her powers are versatile. She can attack, defend, seal, and escape with ease.

I also avoided giving him the [Space Manipulation] skill at the beginning of the story, having him use storage-type soul guidance tools and the [Item Box] instead, because I wanted to give him something better later—the powers of the Herrscher of the Void.

I hate the Honkai wiki with a passion. It's useless when I need information about certain characters, and I had to read Reddit posts from 3-4 years ago to understand certain parts.

I also had to read the manga about the Second Eruption to get a baseline for Sirin's powers, which took a while as well.

Sigh, the lack of information is really killing my will to continue writing about the Herrschers. And if I don't stick close to the original, the hardcore Honkai fans will kill me.

The next chapter will have a small-time skip and then some slice-of-life in the modern world. Watch as Yuhao becomes a capitalist through and through.

I asked in a previous chapter which character you'd like me to introduce, but no one answered.

I'll also begin introducing other plot points in the magic world about the [Holy] and [Evil] parts of the world. After all, I made the two beads enter his spiritual sea for a reason.
