Peering upon the Douluo Planet, into the vast expanse of the Douluo Continent, sprawled across its surface are mighty human cities, boasting a blend of architectural marvels and technological wonders.

The land reverberates with the pulse of innovation, from soaring skyscrapers that touch the heavens to intricate transport networks crisscrossing the landscape.

However, the rapid expansion of humanity's territory and advancement of technology have brought heavy consequences.

The insatiable greed of humanity for expansion has depleted the natural resources of the planet, causing the environment to deteriorate. As a result, the Douluo Continent is on the verge of collapsing.

But even so, there are still natural environments that have not deteriorated nor been touched by humanity. The Great Star Dou Forest, one of the very few remaining natural environments, is home to the spirit beasts.

Within the Great Star Dou Forest, a 960-year-old white panther peacefully slumbers atop a massive boulder.

'Dragon Breath!'

Suddenly, the tranquility shatters as an intense burst of purplish-blue pale fire streaks through the air, accurately hitting the white panther.

"Roar!"

Rending the air with a pained roar, the white panther leaps from the boulder, scanning its surroundings to identify the assailant.

It then sees a red lizard-like creature standing on two legs, its mouth opening to unleash another fierce burst of purplish-blue fire.

Having experienced the searing pain of the purplish-blue pale flame before, the white panther evades the attack, narrowly dodging it.

Easily avoiding the attack, the white panther growls menacingly at the red lizard-like creature, poised to strike. Yet, its body suddenly stiffens, as if paralyzed.

The source of this paralysis lies in the earlier Dragon Breath attack, which not only inflicted damage but also left the white panther immobilized.

Seizing the opportunity, the red lizard-like creature advances swiftly toward the white panther, its mouth aglow with intense fire energy.

'Fire Fang!'

With its fangs cloaked in flames, the lizard-like creature sinks its teeth into the white panther, inflicting significant pain.

Hissing in pain, the white panther struggles to stand and attempts to counter with a powerful, slashing claw motion.

'Slash!'

However, the lizard creature reacts swiftly, countering with its own slashing attack and striking the white panther before the panther's claw can reach it.

Groaning in pain, the white panther's consciousness falters, and it collapses to the ground, wounded and unconscious.

Seeing this, the red lizard-like creature approaches, its gaze fixed on the white panther for an inexplicable reason.

Suddenly, the red lizard-like creature hears a familiar sound that only it can hear.

[Congratulations! You've leveled up! You are now at level 29.]

'Good, I have become a lot stronger now,'

Wang Shòu, who is actually the red lizard-like creature and is in his Charmeleon form, nods in satisfaction.

Five months have passed since Wang Shòu's evolution into Charmeleon. While five months might be brief for spirit beasts, his strength has undergone remarkable transformations compared to his state five months ago.

Wang Shòu always hated messy and complicated status windows, so he asked the system to file the section away and it will only show if he asks for it. Therefore, the Type section serves as a replacement.

'Nevertheless, my status window is a lot better compared to five months ago!'

Wang Shòu notes, his satisfaction and pride evident.

The past five months have been challenging, marked by perilous encounters and battles against formidable spirit beasts. The journey has been tumultuous, nearly costing Wang Shòu his life on several occasions.

Fortunately, Charmeleon, the strongest among the Pokemon forms he can transform into, resolved these crises.

Charmeleon and Pikachu are now respectively at level 29, on the cusp of reaching level 30—the benchmark of a 1,000-year-old spirit beast.

It took five months to get Pikachu and Charmeleon to level 29, with Pikachu the first to reach level 29, primarily due to the increased experience required for Charmeleon after evolving from Charmander.

Moreover, it is not helping the fact that after level 20, it suddenly requires a lot more experience to level up.

Only Clefairy remains at level 27, despite Wang Shòu's earnest efforts to level it up. This Pokemon has been the hardest one to level up, as it is not suited for battle and is only suitable for healing and support.

Because of that, leveling up has been really slow.

Fortunately, two months prior, when Wang Shòu was still in Cleffa form at level 20, he stumbled upon a heaven and earth treasure imbued with the energy of moonlight. Using it, Wang Shòu was able to evolve from Cleffa into Clefairy, and its combat capabilities have been significantly enhanced.

Along with enhanced combat capabilities, Wang Shòu is able to learn many useful moves to use in battle, making it easier to level up.

In sum, Wang Shòu has undeniably grown considerably more powerful in just five months.

'Hmm, now that Charmeleon is level 29, perhaps I stand a chance against that spirit beast...'

The Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear is said to be one of the most powerful bears in the history of the Douluo Planet and when fully grown as an adult, it can even rival true dragons.

Due to its exceptional strength and defense that make it far more powerful than spirit beasts of the same age, it was given the title of Earth Render, capable of reducing mountains to flat terrain.

But how did Wang Shòu find himself at odds with the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear?

Well, a month ago, in his Pikachu form, Wang Shòu was wandering in the forest and stumbled upon a delectable attractive aroma. Pursuing the source of the scent, he discovered a ripe Spirit Honeycomb hanging from a tree. Eagerly, he indulged in the honeycomb's contents.

Unbeknownst to him, a nearby Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear had been lying in wait, sleeping while waiting for the honeycomb to ripen. Upon awakening and witnessing Wang Shòu relishing its prized delicacy, the bear immediately became enraged. Although Wang Shòu managed to evade the enraged bear's pursuit, the incident left a lasting grudge.

Now, the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear stands guard at the entrance to the middle region, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to exact revenge upon Wang Shòu's arrival.

'It's just a honeycomb...do you need to be so petty?'

Wang Shòu thought, speechless and also amused that the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear is willing to go this far for just a honeycomb.

'Nevertheless, it plays into my favor, I suppose. I can consider it a test to see if I'm qualified to advance toward the middle region'

Wang Shòu shrugs, treating the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear like a minor boss in a game, viewing the situation with a game-like perspective.

'But before that, gotta heal the white panther.'

With that said, Wang Shòu quickly turns into a small, round, and pink Pokémon with a plump, fairy-like body.

It has large, expressive eyes, and its ears are slightly elongated and adorned with curling tufts of fur with the tip of its ear a brown color. Its arms are short and stubby, and it has three fingers on each hand. Its legs are similarly stubby, ending in three-toed feet.

Having turned into Clefairy, Wang Shòu looks at the wounded unconscious white panther and waves his small arm.
