Douluo Dalu: Martial Path

In the world of Douluo Dalu, being a Soul Master is an occupation. A title above normal mortals. Yet, despite the power and numerous other abilities one would gain as they thread the path of a Spirit Master, they were no different from a normal mortal. They would still die to natural causes and a spirit master didn't have a longer lifespan than a mortal, except when they reach the limits of a spirit master but they could only live by twice or thrice the lifespan of a mortal still. Just what was good being a spirit master? Especially if one can easily kill them by the hands of either technology or natural causes? They weren't much different from a mortal. That was what Feng Qin had come to a conclusion as he turned twelve, six years after awakening an unknown trash Martial Spirit. But, on a fateful day, one single lucky moment as he had just survive from a life and death situation, changed his life forever. ... AN: Hey it's yo boi, FroztDouluo back with another Douluo Dalu fanfic! And this time, it's a concept that I've taken inspirations from Martial World(just read the story since it's a prequel to True Martial World, my favorite story and one I'm hoping to make a fanfic of someday), True Martial World, Tales of Demons and Gods, God of Slaughter, etc. I really hope I can make this story great and won't eventually turn me off. Cause my last few stories were great in plotlines at the start but it had eventually gone downhill due to several reasons.(Mainly laziness, writer's block, and school.) So, I'm going to clarify a few things and reveal a couple spoilers. One, there will be some oc other than the mc in this story. Most of them would come from other stories that I had previously mentioned or you guys can help me create some of them through comments. Two, I prioritize pa-treon more than here so if you notice me being late to update than it must mean I was either busy writing more chapters in pa-treon or I'm resting from the exhaustion of it. Three, the update schedule is 2-3 chapters a week with at least 1k words. Chapters are uploaded in Wednesday and Friday/Saturday(UTC +8, Philippine time). Four, I will try to reply to most of the comments I see but don't count much, cause I don't really reply very well because I just don't know what to write back. I just hope it'll get to a hundred, or two, chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash.

Chapter 38: Cao Fengzi

"Derek was defeated?" A charming voice sounded out, surprise clear in her tone.

She was a beautiful tall girl, light skinned, with short black hair with a green strand and violet eyes.

She was standing in the far corner of the competitors' stand together with familiar acquaintances and had watched one of her rivals beaten by a complete nobody until now.

"Heh. What, worried that you'll get beaten by her?" A mocking voice came from a nearby male competitor, a scrawny looking man with nasty scars all across his naked chest, making the girl roll her eyes in annoyance.

"I don't think so," she replied calmly, her eyes still fixed on the defeated Derek. "I just find it interesting that a new face managed to take down one of the best competitors here."

The group around her started to murmur in agreement, some even looking over at the victor with curiosity.

It wasn't rare for someone new to come into the competition and cause such an upset, but it was when they defeated one of the geniuses of the Sky Fortune Academy.

As for Fei Kui, one of the so-called dark horses in the academy, that was defeated by someone unknown as well...no one really cared about him.

No one liked him after all.

"Well, regardless of who won, Cang Yuyue, Li Fuji, we still have to focus on our own matches," One of them, a tall young man with dark skin and a muscular build, strictly reminded them.

Everyone nodded in agreement while the scarred man scoffed, "Yeah, yeah. But don't you fucking order me around, Lin Tong. You ain't stronger than me, nor are you Cain."

"That wasn't my intention to give you an order, Li Fuji. And I don't even want you as my comrade or subordinate, as it seems like you're more interested in causing trouble than training and improving yourself," Lin Tong replied, his voice calm but firm.

The scarred man snorted, clearly unimpressed, and walked away with a swagger, muttering to himself.

Cang Yuyue smiled to herself, amused by the drama unfolding around her and turned to leave, but not before glancing back at Derek lying on the ground. She wondered what the new competitor's next move would be, and if they could pose a threat to her own chances of winning.

Only time would tell she supposed.

Though, there were a couple other newcomers that needed attention.

Long Yuyin and...Cao Fengzi? She was pretty sure that the guy's name was Feng Qin and she had seen the real Cao Fengzi back in the academy after all, probably an idiot in stands who had mistaken the kid's identity and spread it.

That Mei Lin, or Ice Goddess that the people started calling her, was strong but she wasn't as mysterious and strange as those two.

One had a spirit related to blood manipulation, something that's commonly on the evil spectrum of spirits, while the other is physically strong overall especially with his fists that can easily knock out any two-ringed Spirit Master.

The latter was one who intrigued her the most, except for Cain, Su Fei, Sarah and Cao Fengzi that hadn't joined yet until now, Feng Qin was the only person who hadn't used his spirit.

Is it because he's an unparalleled genius that managed to cultivate to Spirit Ancestor at his age? Impossible. Spirit Hall would've already roped him in and he wouldn't be here participating but instead at the main National Youth Competition at the capital city.

So then why is he not using it but instead keeping it on his back?

Cang Yuyue's expression turned strange, as she blushed and smirked.

"I guess I'll just have to find out if we meet each other on stage. Hehehehe."

Other competitors near her quickly backed away, especially the ones who recognized her took several steps back and even hid behind others.

Cang Yuyue was famous for two things in the academy, her beauty and her obsession of fighting and unraveling her opponent's secrets.

She was named the Sadist Peeker in the academy, of course that was behind her back by the other students and she has no knowledge of it.

"Hey, is that who I think it is?!"

"Hm? Pfft–! No way! Oh shit, I gotta go put my bets in this match."

"What's happening–holy pontiff! It's that psycho!!"

"What?" Cang Yuyue's eyes widened as she turned back towards the stage, her expression instantly grew serious as she spotted a familiar face.

'So he finally appeared...Cao Fengzi!'

She turned to look at who his opponent was and she blinked her eyes, flashing pity.

"Aww...And I wanted to fight you. Oh well, I'll just ask you after you get beaten by that lightning freak."she let out a disappointed sigh, pouting.

.....

Feng Qin calmly walked up to the area of the stage of his match and he looked over towards his opponent with raised eyebrows.

Walking opposite to him was a young man, just a few years older than him with a bit of baby fat on his good looking face, but he had a shoulder length long unkempt white hair that blew in the wind as he walked up. He was almost like an immortal paired with his plain and clean white robe.

His sharp black eyes flashed arcs of lightning every time he took a step forward.

Feng Qin's eyes narrowed as his body subconsciously released a red fiery aura, his crimson eyes lit up with flames.

Finally, aside from Mei Lin, someone made him feel uneasy.

It was like facing against a ball of barely restrained lightning than a human with flesh and blood.

To put it in terms of the Martial Arts World, this man had comprehended the Concept of Lightning! Moreover, the feeling he was getting was someone who was just a step away from comprehending the second level of the Concept of Lightning.

Instead of feeling fearful, Feng Qin smiled and mindlessly thought,

'Was it just a coincidence that I, wearing almost all black, is fighting against a guy wearing almost all white? Also, I kinda look like his rival or bad guy in this situation. This competition might be rigged or something.'

'Never thought I'd meet someone who'd comprehended the Concept of Lightning to the peak of the first level, looks like I can finally be serious,' his lips curled.

They didn't talk. As if they both knew that words were unnecessary.

And then, a short fifty year old man appeared between them wearing a referee uniform.

"Are both of you ready?"

Both of them nodded, their eyes fixed on each other, their spirits already beginning to stir within them.

"Begin!" The referee shouted, stepping back and letting the two opponents start their match.

Lightning immediately crackled around the white-haired man.

"I am Cao Fengzi, 16 years old, Spirit Rank 31, Assault Power System Battle Spirit Master. Spirit, Yin-Lightning Hammer."

Feng Qin calmly took a fighting stance, his fists burst out burning with purple flames, turning the aura around his body into purple.

"My name is Feng Qin, 12 years old, Spirit Rank 27, Assault Power System Battle Spirit Master. Spirit, Heavenly Yang Sword."

Both of them didn't released their respective spirits.

They both treated this as a warm up first.

The two charged at each other, and the audience held their breath as the clash of lightning and flames created a deafening roar.

Don't forget to press that power stone button!
