Death Explained

There was no pain, no light, and no darkness. There was simply nothing. It was as if my mind had been placed in a catatonic state; no breath to be drawn and no words left to utter. Here I woke in a strange place unknown to me and here I sit in the cold presence of an odd man who appeared no older that forty at most. The room we were in was stark white with no decor on the walls, a barren scene devoid of anything. The gentleman across the table didn’t appear to be anyone out of the ordinary from first glance. He wore an all black suit with a skull shaped lapel pin on the left side of his jacket. His neatly combed black hair and clean shaven face suggested that he was rather well kept and he put off a presence that could penetrate the foundations of any soul. I looked into his eyes and saw a void of pure despair. At that point there was no guessing who he was because I had already felt this chilling aura before, but there was now a face to place to it. “Dylan Cinder, you are dead. The act in which you used to commit your suicide was rather amusing, but even so it appears that you have succeeded in your plot to leave the mortal realm”, Death spoke. His cold blackened face offered no sympathy as he informed me of events that transpired, in my mind, eons ago. I wanted to ask about the events that led to me sitting in this peculiar room discussing the topic of my fickle mortal state with death, but I found myself unable to speak. There were no words I could muster to talk to such a being. “Lucky, or quite possibly not for you, the big man thought it would be a waste to let you off the hook so easy. You will be enlisted in the Death Corpse Program and alongside the other new recruits be trained to act as Grim Reapers”. He had a queer look on his face that suggested he may not have been entirely thrilled about my inclusion in this project, but either way it didn’t seem like he had much of a choice. “Of course you can decline the position, but that means you’ll take your chances with the judge and by the looks of how you went out, going down seems very likely. I mean for the love of it all, you slid down a children’s slide off the side of a 300 story building after screaming sui-slide at the top of your lungs”. A wry smile crept across Death’s face because he knew that their really was only one choice. “Sure, let’s give this reaper thing a go”, I thought to myself. I mean given the choice between eternal damnation and a new job, I guess I’ll lean towards the new position. “Seems like you have made up your mind, so sign this contract and we can get on with this process” he sighed. A golden scroll with blood red writing suddenly appeared on the table. It clearly read that in exchange for a thousand years of service to the Death Corpse, I would be free from the judgment of my mortal transgressions. I moved to pick up the contract to examine it closer. My finger slipped and caught the corner of the page by accident and cut my finger open, but instead of blood, a black fluid emerged from the wound and landed in the parchment. “The contract is signed” he said. Suddenly the room went black and the man was gone. My cloths that I was wearing disappeared from my body and had been replaced by what looked like a replica of the suit the gentleman had been wearing, minus the lapel pin strangely enough. A voice suddenly played in my head, a strange sound I had never heard before, almost like some sort of angelic woman directly transmitting thoughts into my mind. “Reaper Corpse Trainee Form Gained. Welcome to the Corpse” the voice rang out. A shocking experience to be sure, but it seemed like it was attached to the contract that I had just signed, so I didn’t pay it to much heed. The black room started to change again, slowly twisting the dimension until it finally cracked. There was a bright flash of light and a loud crashing sound. When the light faded slightly, I found my feet upon solid ground. “Welcome to the Academy”.

Side Character wants to be left alone

"I want to live a lazy, promising, and peaceful life. So dear main characters, please stay away from me. You guys bring too much drama, and it's certainly not my cup of tea." That's what Amel pledged to herself. She thought that she will live a wholesome life if she diligently avoided those troublemakers, but boy...how wrong she was? Male Lead 1: "You are saying that you won't agree with me? You are doing all this because you care for me, right?" Amel: "You've got the wrong idea prince." Male Lead 2: "I follow you because I want to keep you safe." Amel: "No dude. You're just acting like a creep." Male Lead 3: "Please don't leave me. Let me stay by your side." Amel: "I'm just going to the bathroom dude. Take a chill pill." Villain: "Where do you think you're going? Are you trying to leave me?" Amel: "Yes, I will if you keep behaving like a toxic a-hole. Moreover, aren't you supposed to hate my guts or something?" BONUS SCENE: Female lead: "You don't like them. Do you want me to get rid of them for you?" Amel: "No girl. They just cheated off me on a test and got better scores while I barely passed. And don't say such evil things with an innocent face." Maybe Amel's dream of a peaceful life will go straight down the drain. I Summoned A Demon Princess!

Kael Livingrail had a miserable life. His father passed away before he was born, and his stepfather—the man his mother remarried—hated him with a seething passion. He was bullied at school, looked down on by his peers, scorned by his half-siblings, and always felt unwelcome, even in his own home. The only thing that kept him going was his childhood friend and crush, Claire. However, his heart shattered when she got into a relationship with a classmate who was, in every way, better than Kael—looks, status, physique... everything! All he wanted was a different life. He wanted to feel chosen, like those protagonists in stories who overcame all their life's challenges, won the affections of the girl they liked, and around whom the whole world itself revolved. But he knew that his wish was just a fantasy. There was no magic in real life, no miraculous comebacks, and no chance for someone like him to win over the girl he loved. In the real world, socially inept, unattractive, introverted nerds like him don't win anything… except maybe some academic awards. …Or at least, that's what he thought until one fateful afternoon when he stumbled upon a book on demonology in the school library, which had instructions on how to summon a familiar. Despite his initial reluctance, driven by curiosity and a desperate hope for something more, he decided to perform the ritual. And as it turned out, the line between reality and fantasy was not nearly as absolute as Kael had initially believed. This world was filled with mystical wonders, fantastical adventures, secret magical societies... and harrowing terrors... all hidden in plain sight.

Pregnant with the devil

- Please! - I beg, practically throwing myself at your feet. - You can't treat me like this, not after finding out I'm pregnant. He leans into my space, so close that I can smell the spicy notes of his cologne. Then a dark smile comes across his lips. - And you want me to believe that you, a poor little rich girl, were innocent - He pauses dramatically and smiles as if I've just told a very funny joke - And a virgin? You didn't look like a virgin when I fucked you! He gives me that nervous smile again. - I don't want this thing, and I'm sure you don't either. Get a clinic and sort it out. Not that I think it's mine, really. A virgin doesn't act like you did that night, in fact, I honestly don't even remember, but if there's one thing I do remember, it's that it's impossible for me to fuck a woman who looks unwell, innocent or a virgin. I honestly ignore everything he says about me and just focus on my baby. "That thing" he just called my baby "thing" - I hate you. - My voice isn't a whisper. - If you think you'll ever be able to go back on that decision, you're sorely mistaken. You can shove that money up your ass, you son of a bitch. - I say it with all the strength I have in me. His jaw tightened and he looked like he wanted to break my neck, just like the first time. But now something flashed in his eyes, something different. He was uncertain of the accusations he'd made against me, and worst of all. He knew I was serious. He knew I'd never go back.
