Enhancers and Mages

Hearing the words of Agis, Kit did not expect that his training would become more brutal. The conscious children in the hall had their eyes on Kit. They were all amazed of what he had done. Theron's excitement was palpable; his sworn brother's exceptional talent and strength only fueled his enthusiasm. Kit did feel one piercing glare out of the looks of amazement. It was the guy who came before him.

Agis had dismissed everyone today except for Kit, Theron, Damon, and the guy who came before Kit. While the others left the room, carrying some of their unconscious brothers to the infirmary, Agis turned his attention to Theron and Damon's injuries. With a wave of his hand, he employed his magic to swiftly heal Theron's foot and Damon's head.

Agis woke up and used magic to heal Theron's foot and Damon's head. As soon as he wakes up, he sees a wide grin on Theron's face implying that he missed something really amazing. Surveying his surroundings, Damon found the stone to be cracked but had no idea who did it. He turned his gaze to Theron, who simply inclined his head in Kit's direction.

It was evident on Damon's expression and body language that he too was ecstatic for Kit's achievement. After a few minutes, Agis told them to introduce themselves.

"My name is Kit; I'm looking forward to the intensified training of mine." Kit said as he thought this should be the appropriate reply.

"I am Theron, the sworn brother of Kit. I am grateful for this opportunity to train." Theron said in a sincere manner.

"I am Damon, the sworn brother of Kit. I shall do my best to serve and protect Sparta." Damon said sincerely.

"My name is Damaris; I strive to be the strongest there is." Damaris said in a resolute voice.

"Very good, I'd expect nothing less from my best students."

Hearing the words best, Damon and Theron were ecstatic inside while Kit and Damaris remained nonchalant.

Agis the explained to them as to how Kit cracked the stone. In order to explain it better to them, he told them a story of a Spartan and Athenian warrior.

Centuries ago, in a land lost in time. There was a Spartan and Athenian travelling a world different from ours. The world was magical and filled with deadly creatures such as a black serpent with many heads, humanoid creatures hungry for human flesh, fire breathing dragons and many more. It is also said that the world was ruled by gods and incurring their wrath would mean absolute destruction.

Exploring this world, they discovered people different from us that can utilize the power of mana flowing through our veins. The color of mana and the powers an individual may unleash varies depending on the attribute of a person. If it was water, it would be blue, fire is for red, and etc.

The people who resided that world lived longer but looked younger. Some say they have lived hundreds of years, and some say thousands. It was revealed that the secret to their youth is the masterful control of mana.

Intrigued by mana, the two surrendered their beliefs and knowledge that they have in order to learn mana.

The Spartans were taught to channel their mana to bolster their bodies and weapons, earning him the title of "enhancers." On the other hand, the Athenian honed his intellect and knowledge to master the art of magic creation, earning the title of "mage."

With their newfound powers, they ventured the worlds and walked the lands of scorching heat, the waters of unspeakable monsters, and even the Underworld where Hades resided.

They fought different individuals and creatures throughout the world making their names known throughout.

"What are their names?" Damon asked curiously.

"Unfortunately, the names were lost." Agis said in a sad tone.

Continuing his story, Agis recounted that the duo eventually became recognized as among the strongest in the world. However, the tale takes a turn as their conflicting beliefs began to surface. The Spartan nurtured ambitions of world conquest, while the Athenian's ideals centered on the propagation of peace and prosperity.

These differing perspectives ultimately drove a wedge between them, escalating into a legendary battle that played out on a deserted island. This confrontation, laden with intensity and destruction, supposedly attracted the attention of even the gods themselves. But what precisely transpired afterward remains shrouded in mystery. The aftermath left only scattered mementos of their existence in the island's wake.

It was unclear what the memento was as the other versions of this story stated that it was their weapons, clothing, ring, and even their bones.

"Is the story true?" Kit asked in a curious manner.

"It is a legend from the old times told by a lone hermit living in the mountains."

"Can we also learn the magic of the Athenians?" Damaris asked.

"Yes, it is not forbidden in Sparta. Spartans should always utilize things that will make us stronger."

"Can you also teach us magic?"

"Unfortunately, I cannot."

Agis explained that learning magic as difficult as being an enhancer. One needs to dedicate a lot of time in learning one. He also explained that although the learning of magic is legal, it was looked down upon if a Spartan warrior disregarded Enhancement and focused solely on magic.

"Is it possible to learn both of them?" Damon asked.

"It is, but one needs to have the born talent and skill in which only a few people possess."

After the four stopped asking questions, Agis began to teach them how to utilize their mana so they may enhance their bodies or weapons. He demonstrated the power of enhancement by destroying the Understone with but a single flick of his fingers.

"The first thing you need to know is that the strength of your enhancement does not rely on the raw strength that you possess but the amount of mana you can use to enhance."

"But then what's the point of strengthening our bodies?" Damaris asked.

"Good question, it is so that your body can store a lot more mana. Some legendary figures in the past claim to have the peak human body allowing them to store limitless mana."

Hearing this Damon, Theron, and Damaris took a big gulp. It is written in their eyes that they were motivated to train their bodies to the limit to have that limitless amount. Kit, on the other hand was not surprised since he knew of someone who has already achieved the limitless.

"I have a question; did you only enhance your finger when you destroyed the Understone?" Kit asked.

"Yes, but how did you know that I was only enhancing my finger?" Agis asked with a curious look.

"I just felt something in your finger."

"But why did you only enhance your finger? Wouldn't it be stronger if you just enhanced your fist and punched it"? Theron asked.

"Because the smaller the body part or object you Enhance, the stronger and denser the mana used to coat it becomes but it would leave yourself defenseless from attacks."

"When will you teach us enhancing?" Damon asked.

"I plan on teaching you two, Damon and Theron after this." Agis said.

"How about the other two?" Damon asked.

"Those two already have the gist of enhancing. I have separate training regimens for them." Agis said with a huge smile on his face.

Kit showed a happy expression upon hearing that he will have an exclusive training regimen but deep inside he is already in tears anticipating the pain he'll experience in the next 30 days.

Before Agis could start teaching Damon and Theron, Damaris spoke up. He told Agis that he wanted to have a spar with Kit before doing their own training to see who is stronger. Hearing Damaris' suggestion, Agis permitted them to spar as he was quite intrigued and curious who'll come out on top.

With the experience he got fighting his other brothers in the muddy field, Kit's confidence grew quite a bit. Normally he would shy away from this kind of challenge, but he too was curious on who will win.

Arranging the sparring session, Agis instructed Damon and Theron to give space for the two fighters. As soon as Kit and Damaris were in the center of the room, Agis explained the rules to them. It was three simple rules, whoever gets knocked unconscious loses, surrendering is not allowed, and the match will not end unless someone is knocked unconscious.

As the two fighters faced each other, their eyes locked in an intense stare. Their gazes brimmed with such ferocity that sent shivers down Agis, Damon, and Theron's spines. The sheer intensity radiating from the duelists' eyes was enough to evoke a sense of anticipation and tension among the three people watching.

With every passing second, the air grew more charged, the room becoming a pressure cooker of escalating intensity. The weight of anticipation hung heavy, almost suffocating, as the room braced for the inevitable duel between the two.

Awaiting Agis' signal to commence, Kit and Damaris had absolute concentration and focus, ready to fight as soon as possible. As Agis raised his hand, signifying the beginning of the duel, the two dashed forward, fists clenched determined to unleash hell on the other.
