Something weird

This happened in January of 2018, while I was working as a cashier at a large grocery store.

One day, a woman came through my line. She bought only a single gallon of milk. As she was checking out, she commented on how wonderful my customer service skills were. She told me that she had a job offer for me, and gave me her phone number. She wanted to meet with me at a local Starbucks the following week. I was open to the idea of getting a new job, and she seemed friendly and genuine, so I agreed.

When I arrived to meet her the following week, I dressed as if I was going to an interview. I wore a dress with tights and a light jacket. Because I was somewhat uneasy of the situation, I had my boyfriend and mom sit at nearby tables. The first thing the woman did was comment on my appearance, and she told me she wanted me to dress this way for future meetings. She them proceeded to give me a long, drawn out speech. She talked in a very strange, fake tone, and barely let me get a word in. For example, she ask me "if you had to work for 10 years for free, then get a million dollars at the end, would you do it?". She continuously commented on my appearance, and how perfect my personality was for this "business opportunity" despite only speaking with me for five minutes. She never asked me about my job history or work experience, and only gave vague details about this "job". She also told me that my friends and family would tell me not to meet with her, and that my family would be jealous and get in my way. It's hard to explain, but the whole thing seemed like she was trying to brainwash me, and the speech seemed incredibly fake and rehearsed. My boyfriend and mom, who were listening in, agreed it was bizarre. This lasted about 2 hours, and at the end she invited me to meet with some "business partners". She instructed me to meet her at an apartment complex at the very edge of town, which is questionable in itself, but what she told me next creeped me out. She told me to come alone, at to meet her at 8pm. She told me to park my car down the road, then walk over to the house. She specifically told me that I wasn't allowed to enter the house by myself, and that I had to meet her in the driveway, then she would walk me in.

Because I was very creeped out, I never ended up attending this "meeting". At roughly 8:15, she called me and left me a voicemail asking where I was (I still have this voicemail as proof if needed). After I didn't reply, she never tried to contact me again. This was after weeks of texting, and two hours of talking to me in Starbucks. It always struck me as strange that she never contacted me again, despite putting in so much time and effort into talking to me. Plus, she never once told me what this "business opportunity" was.

I considered contacted the police, or showing up to the "meeting" with a group of friends, but I never did. I convinced myself that this was just a woman trying to recruit me for an MLM, since it's the most likely explanation. However, looking back on it, I can't help but wonder of this was something more sinister. Why would she tell me to meet her so late in the evening, and why did I have to come alone?

Sorry if this isn't a very exciting story, but it's something that's weighed on my mind for a while. I'd love to get some input on the situation. Thanks for reading.
