Chapter 14

This is a Battlefield Portal, it allows for groups of warriors of the same Rank to teleport to the same location. It is wide spread Governments provide it to all new Warrior Organisations for the price of 1 Spiritual Crystal.

Of course Samuel didn't have any spiritual crystals right now but it is not uncommon for the Government to provide it temporarily and accept the payment after the organisation gets a good harvest.

Moreover Samuel borrowed something else for this trip, A4 was carrying a small backpack, but in fact its storage is similar to that of a large room. This is a Space Bag often used by low ranking adventurers to store the dead bodies of their prey.

After all, each body can sell for a hundred thousand Credits! Of course this is on the premise that they are in good shape and the organs are accurately removed into the right containers.

And that's when the newcomer A9 comes in. While the other Dogs of War where busy training in combat Samuel specifically ordered A9 to learn all about dissection and what parts of the body were the most valuable.

Of course his combat power took a hit, not to mention his older age already limited him.

If possible Samuel didn't want these oldies to fight, after all they are far weaker than others their age.

But he is short of manpower right now there isn't much else he can do.

So the group set off. The portal activated as a giant skeleton tattoo appeared below them engulfing them in black flames.

Samuel also reclined on his couch as he watched them disappear and willed his eyes to connect to A1s vision.

Naturally A1 is the leader of this mission. But they further divided into teams of three, instructed to explore the environment and try to find some valuable herbs or kill some creatures.

The teams where as follows: (A1,A9,A10) (A2, A4,A6) (A3,A7,A8)

Naturally Samuel organised the teams in the best way possible to ensure survival of them all.

The groups spawning point was a vast Jungle, with trees hundreds of metres tall and various bugs and insects floating around.

''A2 you lead your team and head west, A3 you head east, we will head north. Keep in contact and if something happens send your location and we we will rush there immediately.''

As for the method of keeping in contact, it is pretty simple really. Each Dog of War has a small Wolf like badge on their chest. This is the symbol of the Warrior Organisation.

They allow for easy communication between the Warriors.

Samuels eyesight followed A1 heading northward.

Originally it was relatively quiet, there were no beast attacks and A1 managed to pick up a few herbs worth a couple thousand Credits.

But this changed when the sound of swords ringing against each other in the distance appeared.

''At least two of them, do we go forward A1?''

''Yes there are three of us now, we need to take risks to make a profit, ill approach first and see what is happening you two will wait here and follow when I call you.''

A1 spoke his plan and slowly walked forward and A9 and A10 remained alert waiting for A1s signal.

A1 walked forward for less than two minutes before a large clearing came into his view. Obviously it wasn't always a clearing, evident by the collapsed trees and broken branches strewn around the edges.

In the centre three people were fighting fiercely.

A1 took this time where they were distracted to analyse them.

It was a Middle Rank Warrior competing against two Low Rank Warriors. Both the low Rank warriors wore the same small turtle badge on their chest while the Middle Rank Warrior had no symbol at all.

''Richard, just give up. Even though you're at the Middle Rank you just broke through! Your not the opponent of the two of us.'' One of the small faced Low Rank Warriors shouted towards the Rogue Warrior.

The other Low Rank Warrior took this chance to chime in.

''Hehe Brother lets just kill him to prevent future troubles.''

''You bastards I have been promoted now it won't be so easy to kill me.'' As the apparent Richard finished his sentence he took the initiative.

Charging forward with a sleek black sword he slashed heavily towards the nearest warrior.

Of course even though Richard had just broken through there is still a large gap in strength between a Low Rank and Middle Rank 1 warrior.

The smale faced warrior was the victim of this attack, but just as the sword was likely to cut off his arm a small grey shield flew out of his pocket and appeared in front of him.

''Huh you actually have an artifact??'' Richard exclaimed in disbelief.

Even Samuel was stunned watching the scene through A1s eyes. Artifacts can't just be described as precious, they are invaluable.

For many people an offensive Artifact can bring them to the peak of their stage, while Defensive Artifacts are a life saving grace!

Naturally Artifacts are incredibly expensive, a single Artifact selling for dozens of Spiritual Stones as a minimum.

And that's on the condition that you have some supply of them. Most organisations will have a private Refiner who excels in producing Artifacts but the supply could be as small as one or two a year!

And that's only low level Artifacts. The fact that this random guy has an Artifact is enough to prove that his identity is far from simple.

Of course there are Pseudo-Artifacts, mostly failed products or cheap productions worth two or three or even higher than ten Spiritual Crystals.

Artifacts essentially allow Warriors to implant Spiritual Energy within them to activate various effects. For example the Shield being used right now has incredibly high defence when it is injected with Spiritual Energy.

This means the more spiritual energy injected the stronger the strength, to a limit of course.

Whereas Pseudo Artifacts are often defective or cheap meaning they struggle to keep in the Spiritual energy and the effect of it is much lower. Or they might not be able to store a lot of energy so they will only show a small bit of strength.

For example Richard's own Sword is a pseudo Artifact, but it has a clearly visible leakage of spiritual energy.

Soon the battle raged again, with the defensive Artifact the two weaker warriors were able to compete and cause significant damage to Richard.

Whereas Richard himself struggled to land even a single hit.
