Episode 8 - Finale - The Rise of The Nightmare Child

Previously: The Doctor had been seeing prophecies of the Nightmare Child returning, he was then kidnapped by The Daleks with Kristen and Kathy and taken to Davros. Sharrel, River, Katrep, and Mikayla found themselves in danger when The Nightmare Child rose and killed Jarrel. The Daleks executed all of Sharrel's people.

LOCATION: UNKNOWN

A body floats. 

Suddenly, a familiar, but unknown voice says "The Nightmare Child, a creature born to destroy existence itself, unleashed into the universe, it had begun its destruction...time was running out, and even The Daleks knew that they'd soon be dead. With time running out, a war was about to break out, but little did The Doctor know, that the path to victory was in the unknown-".

In the skies of Marcey The Nightmare Child is seen in the skies, floating off.

The Supreme Dalek says "This abomination should be destroyed! TAKE ME TO DAVROS...NOW!".

The Supreme Dalek follows two other Daleks.

Elsewhere, nearby, River stands up, feeling tired and covered in debris. 

Mikayla then walks over, she looks at River in heartbreak.

River then says "Where's Sharrel?".

Mikayla points. 

River turns her head, looking at Sharrel.

Katrep sits beside Sharrel. 

Sharrel then looks up, looks at River, and says "They're gone! All my people! Just...gone!".

River says "Listen me, I know you're hurting right now, but please! You are loved by many other people, Come with us, back to The Doctor, and your friends. They need you".

Sharrel looks at River and he starts to nod. 

Down in the bunker, dust falls down from above, dropping to the ground. 

The Doctor then sits up, he rubs his face, rubbing dirt off of him. 

The Doctor then turns his head, seeing the devastation caused by the Nightmare Child. 

Kathy stands up, she runs over to Kristen, helping her up. 

The Doctor then says "Does anyone see The Mistress? Or Davros?".

Kristen shakes her head "No, I don't see anyone! What's happening out there?".

The Doctor looks at the two of them "I don't know, but come on! We need to find out".

Outside, The Doctor runs out, seeing most of the planet completely pulverised by the Nightmare Child. 

Kathy and Kristen walk out in shock. 

Kristen says "Is this what it's going to do everywhere? The whole universe?".

The Doctor nods "Unless we stop it, yes".

A voice then says "Well, best you stop it".

The Doctor turns around, he sees River Song. 

River smiles "And I must say, I am liking this new face".

The Doctor stares at her "River? Do you realise how dangerous this is! I can't have you here in this much danger, if you died, time would fracture!".

River nods at him "That's why I don't plan on dying, but surviving!".

Kathy looks at Sharrel "You okay?".

Mikayla sighs "All of his people were here, the Daleks, they...killed them all".

Sharrel nods "Every single one of them".

Kristen shakes her head "Sharrel, I-".

Sharrel then leans over, hugging Kristen. 

Kathy stands there and looks at Katrep and she nods at him "Good to see you again".

Katrep nods at her "You too".

The Doctor then says "Right, hello everyone, Katrep, Mikayla...and Sharrel, I'm sorry".

Sharrel nods at him. 

The Doctor says "But right now, the Nightmare Child is ravaging its way through our universe, we have to go out there and stop it, but...there's also Davros and The Mistress who are hiding somewhere on this planet, we have to stop all of them". 

River says "Sweetie I'm coming with you, we need to figure out how to kill it".

Mikayla nods "I'll go with you too".

The Doctor nods "Right, Kathy you lead the others, find The Mistress and Davros...and-".

The Doctor looks to the ground nervously.

Kathy says "And?".

The Doctor looks back up and holds Kathy's hand "You do whatever it takes to stop them. Right now they are the most dangerous people in the universe, up there with the Nightmare Child, they have to be stopped, in whatever way necessary, and I don't usually say that".

Kathy nods at The Doctor "I will do whatever it takes".

The Doctor nods, he then smiles at Kristen, then looks at Sharrel and nods at him.

The Doctor, River, and Mikayla walk away together towards the Tardis.

Kathy stands with Kristen, Sharrel, and Katrep.

Kathy pulls her Sonic Screwdriver out and says "Right then, let's go stop The Mistress and Davros-".

Katrep sighs "We're so going to die".

Kristen nods at him "I do not like our odds to be fair".

Kathy sighs "We can survive! We just have to be smart".

Back inside the Tardis, The Doctor walks inside, he runs over to the console. 

River and Mikayla also walk inside.

The Doctor flicks a lever and presses some buttons.

River says "So, I'm guessing you already have an idea of how to stop it?".

The Doctor nods at her "Oh yes! But, you're not going to like this".

Mikayla looks over at them nervously.

Back on Marcey, Daleks fly through the sky.

Through a loudspeaker, The Supreme Dalek is heard, and says "LOCATE AND EXTERMINATE DAVROS, HE MUST BE DESTROYED!".

Kathy, Kristen, Sharrel, and Katrep all hide as Daleks fly past them.

Kristen then says "Over here, this is where they were mining-".

Katrep nods "It's where the buried spaceship is".

Down in the tunnels, Kathy points her Sonic Screwdriver, using it as a torch.

Kathy sees the spaceship "It's the one I was in with The Doctor, and you, Katrep".

Katrep nods at her "Davros used it to waken the Nightmare Child".

Sharrel stops and says "Wait, what if he's in there?".

Kristen nods at him "It's a good thought, it's possible".

Kathy sighs "He definitely is in there-".

Katrep smiles "Why are you sighing about that?".

Kathy looks at him "Because it means we're going to have to kill him soon".

Kathy enters the crashed spaceship with everyone else.

As Kristen climbs down into the spaceship, she then says "I still want to know how we're going to be able to stop all of them".

Kathy smiles at her "Improvise, that's all The Doctor ever does, though he's just really good at it".

Sharrel says "We'll kill them, I'll make sure of it".

Katrep looks at him and says "But don't do anything stupid".

All of a sudden, an alarm is heard coming from the distance. 

And then, a Dalek voice says "Alert! Alert! Lifeforms detected!".

Kathy, Kristen, Sharrel, and Katrep stand there nervously. 

Kathy says "Right then, let's do this".

Inside a room, the Tardis starts to materialise. 

The Doctor steps out, and he says "Right then-".

Mikayla steps out of the Tardis and says "Where even are we?".

River steps out of the Tardis and she shakes her head nervously. 

River says "This is Judoon Prison! What are we doing here?".

The Doctor smiles at River "And how did you know it was a Judoon Prison?".

River smirks "Well, a girl has to party every now and then".

The Doctor shakes his head "Well, yeah it's a Judoon Prison, it holds the most dangerous beings in all creation".

Mikayla then says "So, like River asked, what are we doing here?".

The Doctor smiles "There's something in here that can stop the Nightmare Child, but getting it to help us is what's going to be the tricky thing".

Back inside the crashed spaceship, Kathy walks with Kristen, Sharrel, and Katrep.

Katrep looks at Kathy "Remind you of the old times?".

Kathy smirks "Not something I like to remember, we caused this! Doesn't that thought ring in your head?".

Katrep says "Yeah we caused this, but we had no choice! Think of the alternative!".

Kristen and Sharrel walk together.

Kristen says "Hey, I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through right now, but despite everything, are you okay?".

Sharrel nods at her "Yeah. It was my mission, to fly that colony ship back home, back to my planet. And in the back of my head, I feel like I have to believe that there must be other colony ships out there, more of my people! I can't be the last one, The Doctor isn't, and I remember him telling me that for so long he thought he was".

Kristen nods at him "You have us too, We may not be the same, but we're still family. And I love you, we've been through so much together, all of us! We cannot give up, not now".

Sharrel nods at her "Yeah, I know!".

Suddenly, The Mistress steps out and says "Well, what do we have here? Four people, looking for me? My am I blessed, well You've found me, but...what exactly are you going to do?".

The Mistress stands there smiling.

Kathy points her Sonic Screwdriver at The Mistress.

The Mistress sighs "Put that down, what do you think you are going to do with that?".

Kathy stares at her "I don't know, but maybe I will think of something!".

The Mistress then clicks her fingers.

Daleks start to move in from around.

Katrep then runs off.

A Dalek says "EXTERMINATE-".

The Mistress shouts "STOP! Take these three to Davros, I will find him".

The Mistress smiles at Kathy and then walks off.

A Dalek looks at Kathy, Kristen, and Sharrel and says "MOVE".

Kathy, Kristen, and Sharrel start to move, following a Dalek. 

The Doctor looks over to a security camera, he points his Sonic Screwdriver and sonics it, turning it off. 

River says "Hold on, if you're thinking of releasing who I think you're thinking of releasing, then forget it!". 

The Doctor shakes his head "I have no other choice! We die otherwise!".

River sighs "But what happened last time could happen again!".

The Doctor nods at her "A risk I have to take".

Mikayla says "Will somebody please explain something to me! Who the hell are we releasing!".

The Doctor then turns around, he stares at her "The Unknown!".

Mikayla says "What even is The Unknown?".

The Doctor stops walking and he looks at her "Who, it's who. The Unknown is a Timelord, just like me, we come from the same planet. But The Unknown was one of the originals, he helped build my home planet Gallifrey into the glorious place it was. And when our people learned how to use things like regeneration, they were all happy! But my people didn't want to make immortals, so they decided to cut the regeneration limit to twelve. But, The Unknown didn't agree, and he refused to allow them to cut his regenerations. Time went by, and people died, but he just kept on changing, face after face, hundreds of them. One day, the people finally wanted that change, they wanted him to undergo surgery to implement twelve regenerations, but again he refused. So the Timelords did what they had to, they had to lock him away in a place called The Void, a place nobody can escape from. He stayed there for hundreds, thousands, millions, maybe billions of years, watching time go by, watching it change and shape. But he was changing, being locked in there, he became unrecognisable...a monster. Then one day, a Tardis accidentally lands inside the Void, allowing The Unknown to enter the Tardis, and manage to escape the Void. Where then, he arrived back in the universe, to find the Timelords gone, but then found me, where he started to kill my former incarnations, but luckily I stopped him and I saved them". 

Mikayla stands there nervously. 

River nods at her. 

Mikayla says "Right, but who was the person that helped him escape in the first place?".

River laughs "Well, that's a good question!".

The Doctor sighs "Me! By accident may I add! Now, come on, I wasted too much time there". 

The Doctor then walks out, into a room, where he then looks up and stares straight to a door that has a window. 

The Doctor sees The Unknown. 

The Doctor steps forward, up to the door.

Mikayla and River stand behind The Doctor. 

The Unknown stands up and says "I knew I'd see you again soon...I like the new face, very refreshing".

The Doctor says "You knew I was coming back, when I last saw you, you said when it rose you'd see me again. You knew exactly what was going to happen". 

The Unknown smiles "Of course I knew, it's exactly what I wanted to happen".

The Doctor says "What do you want in exchange for your help?".

The Unknown smiles "I'll help you, but I want you to let me be free!".

The Doctor sighs "What?".

The Unknown nods "After it's done, take me to Gallifrey, and let me be free".

River shakes her head at The Doctor "We can't! Think about what happened last time!".

The Unknown says "It won't happen again, I lost...I can accept defeat".

The Doctor says "You will kill the Nightmare Child?".

The Unknown nods "I will!".

The Doctor points his Sonic Screwdriver at The Unknown's cell, The Doctor says "We are going to have to run!".

The Doctor then sonics The Unknown's cell, causing a loud alarm to start blaring off. 

The door opens. 

The Doctor, The Unknown, River, and Mikayla all run down a hallway. 

Guardbots shoot towards them. 

Up ahead, the Tardis is seen, The Doctor clicks his fingers, opening the Tardis door. 

The Doctor and the others run inside, The Doctor then shuts the Tardis door and says "River, pull it!".

River runs over to the console, and she pulls the dematerialise lever. 

The Doctor walks up to the console and he says "Right, I'll find the coordinates for the Nightmare Child".

The Unknown walks over to the console and says "Just fly the Tardis near it, I can do it from inside here".

Back in the crashed spaceship, Kathy stands with Kristen and Sharrel near Davros and two Daleks.

Davros says "Where is The Doctor?".

Kristen smiles "Currently stopping that thing you created!".

Davros nods "He wishes to destroy such beauty! Let's see if he can do it!".

Kathy stands there nervously. 

Inside the ship, Katrep runs along a hallway, he searches through each and every room. 

The Mistress follows behind, trying to find him. 

Katrep then opens a door to the engine room. 

Katrep then sees smoke coming out of one and he says "Part of the ship is still running!".

Katrep looks around the room, and he finds sheets and small objects, he then starts to push them inside the area the smoke is coming out from, he lodges them down the hole and he says "One big boom-".

Katrep turns around, he sees The Mistress there. 

Katrep says "Oh-".

The Mistress nods at him "Yeah, oh!".

The Mistress pulls out her makeshift Auton gun, She then aims it at Katrep and she says "I'll tell The Doctor that you said goodbye-".

Katrep shakes his head "Please, don't do this...at least tell Kathy something for me!".

The Mistress says "Tell her what?".

Katrep slightly smiles "Version Two".

The Mistress sighs "Whatever that means-".

The Mistress then shoots Katrep in the chest. 

Katrep drops to his knees, he takes a last breath, then falls to the floor dead. 

The Mistress then walks out of the room, but the sound of clanging is heard coming from the engines. 

The Mistress enters the room with Davros, she then looks at Kathy and says "Your friend is dead, no more trouble from him!".

Kathy looks over in tears "No!".

The Mistress laughs "Although, his dying words he wanted me to tell you, two words....version two. Whatever that means". 

Kathy turns her head, looking at Kristen "We need to get out of here".

The Doctor stands in the console room and he says "Right, here we go! We should be just outside".

The Tardis doors open, revealing space, and two planets nearby. 

The Unknown sees The Nightmare Child, one planet is already in total destruction. 

The Unknown then closes his eyes and he takes a deep breath. 

River and Mikayla stand beside them. 

The Doctor then nods at The Unknown "Now!".

The Unknown reaches his hand out and he starts to scream. 

The Nightmare Child's head turns towards the Tardis and says "ALERT! IT IS THE DOCTOR! I AM UNDER ATTACK!". 

Inside the Tardis, the Cloister Bells start to chime. 

Fire spreads inside the console room, The Doctor, Mikayla, and River hold onto the console. 

The Unknown continues to scream. 

Dust starts to fall off of the Nightmare Child, and it slowly starts to disintegrate. 

The Doctor smiles "You did it".

The Unknown nods at him "I did".

The Doctor then pulls off River's Vortex Manipulator and he says "You get the two of them home, then bring the Tardis back to me, I have to find Kathy and the others". 

The Doctor presses a button on the console, and he says "Got their coordinates, see you soon River, thanks for your help Mikayla! And thank you, Unknown!".

The Doctor then disappears. 

River looks at Mikayla and The Unknown "Right then, let's get you home". 

The Doctor then teleports near Davros and The Mistress. 

The Doctor then runs over to Kathy, Kristen, and Sharrel. 

The Doctor says "Where's Katrep?".

Kathy sighs "She killed him". 

The Doctor glares at The Mistress "Another?".

The Mistress smiles "You keep arriving uninvited!". 

Davros shouts "ENOUGH! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CHILD!".

The Doctor smiles "It is gone Davros! Forever, I told you I would stop you". 

Kathy stands beside The Doctor and says "And now, you are all gonna die too, because-".

A loud explosion goes off in the distance. 

The Doctor looks at Kathy "What was that?".

Kathy smiles "Katrep's last action...destroying this ship!".

The Doctor looks at Kristen and Sharrel "You two, get outta here, we'll be right behind you". 

Kristen and Sharrel start to run. 

The Mistress says "Doctor wait-".

The Doctor shakes his head at her "You are going to die in here too!".

Kathy then grabs The Doctor's hand, she pulls him, and the two of them start to run. 

Davros screams "NO! DOCTOR!".

The Mistress goes to run, but Davros points his finger, zapping her.

The Mistress turns around and says "What is your problem?".

Davros smiles "We will die together if we are meant to!".

Outside, Kathy and The Doctor climb out of the spaceship and climb up from the mining cave. 

As the four of them reach the surface, a massive explosion goes off down below. 

The whole planet vibrates. 

The Doctor then smiles at everyone, and says "Good work everyone, and good work Katrep!".

Kristen hugs The Doctor. 

Sharrel and Kathy smile at each other. 

The Tardis starts to materialise. 

The Doctor nods "Let's get out of here". 

Inside the Tardis, the time rotor moves up and down and the Tardis flies through the vortex. 

The Doctor stands near the console piloting. 

Kristen and Sharrel stand together smiling.

Kathy stands on her own in the corner.

The Doctor says "Right, River is back where she should be, everyone else too...time is fixed, and we are back to the classic foursome! Wait, no...I'm not saying that again". 

The Doctor looks around at everyone.

The Doctor then says "So, where next? We could go to the year nine-twenty-five and see the first ever King of England crowned...or we could fly to the other side of the universe, see what planets await still to be discovered, or go-".

Kathy then says "Home".

Sharrel turns around, looking at Kathy. 

Kristen looks over at Kathy nervously. 

The Doctor then smiles at Kathy "Are you sure?".

Kathy walks over to The Doctor and she nods "Not forever, but after today, I realised that I still have my whole life ahead of me, and I want to live some of that with someone that I love".

The Doctor nods at her "Home then". 

The Tardis materialises on Earth. 

Kathy steps outside, looking around at the city. 

The Doctor then steps out and says "Kathy-".

Kathy shakes her head "Don't say goodbye, not like you did with Peri...because this is not goodbye! This is only the beginning of us, I just need a little bit of time".

The Doctor smiles "Alright, see you later...Kathy Yates".

Kathy smiles "See you later, Doctor".

The Doctor smiles and he walks back into the Tardis. 

Kathy stands watching the Tardis dematerialise. 

Kathy then turns around and sees Brian standing there. 

Kathy says "Brian?".

Brian smiles "Hey, The Doctor phoned me up, and told me to be here at this time".

Kathy laughs "Well, while you're here, maybe you can take me on a proper date?".

Brian nods at her "Yeah? I can do that".

Brian offers his hand to Kathy. 

Kathy then takes his hand, and the two of them walk off down the street.

Xmas Special - The Family Returns For Christmas - As the Doctor returns to Earth, The Doctor and his friends join Kathy and Brian for Christmas. But as somebody arrives, The Doctor is shocked to see them. But with trouble brewing in the sky, The Doctor isn't sure if he can trust the man anymore.
