Chapter-20 New Beams

  We did not realize when we fell asleep .

At morning I found myself alone , maybe she had left early to feed Jiera, I was unclothed. I was searching for my apparels when I realized they were on the floor , the events of what we did the previous  night, all in the heat of the moment,  came back to me. I had never felt so sure of anything before , every moment we spent last night was surreal.

I kept calling for her and she finally appeared .

'WHAT?' she asked, in a rather _I'm so pissed off at you_ tone.

'what, no…nothing', I stammered, seeing her irritated expression , sometimes she really scared the hell outta me.

'Can you pass me my trousers?' I asked.

'Oh, yeah sure, breakfast is ready by the way, you might wanna have something , must be tired after last night' she said amusingly.

I got down for breakfast which was sliced brown breads with peanut butter and oregano, salad,and fresh fruit juice.

' that's some food' I said.

' That's a complement I assume.'

'did you come up with all of this ?' I asked.

  'I did.' she replied.

That was a lot of preparation and I was stunned because she had to obviously get up early and prepare the whole breakfast while also taking care of Jiera.

She was carrying Jiera and as I looked at her , I saw Reema's eyes or aunt Fatima's eyes to be more accurate. I couldn't believe the amount of turns my life took , within the past few days , I was going to be married soon and I already had a daughter. It was as if someone had turned the hour glass of my life all of a sudden , I had my breakfast and as soon as I was going to leave my table Reema spoke up.

' Did you call your folks ?' she asked with a hesitant tone.

' I haven't, I'll call them up right now.'

'And how will you explain them everything?'

Now that was some job, I mean explaining everything over a phone call would be a bit of a hassle. How could I possibly put into words all that had happened to me in the last 72 hours or so ?

' I don't know, haven't come up with a plan.'

But all I was sure about is that mom wouldn't have a problem with our marriage, Reema has always been her favorite and what could possibly go wrong? I was earning , in my late 20's and perfectly ready to get married and as for my dad he's always been cool with me regarding my personal life anyways so , I thought it would just be the best to go upto them I person.

But,

The difficult part was them accepting Jiera with her child , they were old afterall, but I still had rays of hope so I went for it.

I asked her to pack hers and Jiera's belongings and all essentials, as we would be leaving for our home the very next day and went in my room to book the tickets.

We both slept together that night, and Jiera between us , this family feeling was wholesome , I always wanted to encounter such a feeling.

Dawn came sooner than I expected , we left her house at quarter to eight, Jiera was still asleep .

We searched for a cab and as soon as we went to the airport , we learned that the flight had been delayed for an hour. Reema was sitting with Jiera snoring softly in her arms

when something strange happened and in no time Reema started weeping,with me already consoling her.

We saw Poonam , Reema's childhood friend and Tarun together ready to board a flight.

Reema was broken , and this time even my presence couldn't prove enough.
