Chapter 16 – Sunrises

Reema's delivery date was greeted by a pleasant morning. The sun shone after quite a lot of gloomy rainy days.

She was tensed and anxious, which any human born woman on this earth would be.

It was seven in the morning when I called for a cab and we both went to the nursing home where she was completing her check-ups. I remembered the place, vaguely though. Maa used to come here often , with any type of interdimensional or earthly problems. A stomachache, headache. She used to bring me here when I used to throw up. The place changed a lot within these few years. Obviously the country developed a lot and cities did as well, and Calcutta being the ex-capital of India, sure got a lot of recognition from whichever party ruled.

Her maids followed us behind and we reached the hospital. It was a rigid atmosphere. I heard babies crying and overjoyed parents doing the same, shedding tears of happiness, welcoming their progeny, progenies in this world and this globe.

I asked her how she was feeling.

'Cool' she answered. 'Better than last night , probably.'

'So what did you end up with?' I asked.

'I signed it of course.' She stated , sounding much more confident and enthusiastic.

We were silent for a moment.

'Bold huh?' I asked.

She nodded her hand and then she spoke up, ' you'll stay the day right Nischit?' she asked.

'Course, I will, is that a question I need to answer?'

She really wanted to talk to me at that point of time, share stuff, laugh a bit more, watch the sky together , experience the darker part of twilight, watch the sunrise as dawn came, but we did not have what the sand glass asked for, time , I held her hand tight and promised her that everything would be better.

She was taken to the Operation Theater after a while.

We waited outside patiently, I alongwith the maids, that is. I was sweating, I did not want to imagine about any uncertainty and any unfeasible question wasn't invited as well.

Later the doctor came out of the operation theater.

'Who's Reema's husband?' he asked , with a dominative tone , the one which doctors posses.

'He isn't here' I replied. 'I'm with her today!' I responded instantaneously, tensed and sweaty.

'what a filthy man he must be' the doctor mentioned, well he wasn't lying at all , I guess.

'Well, young man' he pauses.

My heart skipped a beat. Why is he pausing at this very moment , I thought.

'A hearty CONGRATULATIONS, Reema has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.' He exclaimed.
