Chapter 2 - Manager Xu

Another day had dawned in the city and people could already be seen preparing for work in the streets. In Jiang Ye's house, however, there was a terrible silence

It's not that Jiang Ye has simply activated the system and doesn't want to go to work, although that's partly true. The reason for the silence was that the only inhabitant of the house, Jiang Ye, was lying in bed with a pair of tired eyes and deep circles under his eyes, looking like the walking dead

After suffering an intense headache the night before, he had tried to sleep to recover his energy, but his mind was full of thoughts about his promising future, which seemed to be within reach. His heart was pounding and insomnia overwhelmed him, preventing him from resting properly

Time passed, and Jiang Ye was finally beginning to close his eyes, exhausted and looking like someone who had just emerged from a tomb, lying in bed, when his cell phone began to ring

"Damn it, who's calling me at this hour?"

Jiang Ye, about to go to sleep, heard the call and was furious. He answered the phone angrily and shouted, "Who's bothering me now?"

"Jiang Ye, why are you shouting? Listen, Lao Tzu, you should be angry. Today is the day of our department's project presentation, and you haven't arrived yet. If you're not here in 10 minutes, I want to see how the young master will protect you." On the other end of the line, Xu Daoyang, a middle-aged man, heard Jiang Ye's voice, and his face, which was already impatient, turned terribly grim

Xu Daoyang was the manager of Jiang Ye's department, his immediate superior. Although he didn't have a good relationship with Jiang Ye, who was seen as Young Master Gong's licking dog, Xu Daoyang didn't want to offend him easily. Generally, Jiang Ye did his job properly, so he didn't pay much attention to his quirks. However, today was an important day when they were going to present the new cost project to the board of directors, a meeting that Xu Daoyang had managed to arrange with a lot of effort

This was Xu Daoyang's chance to show his worth and pave the way for a future promotion to director. Now, with one of the team members responsible for the project late, Xu Daoyang was naturally furious. If it had been anyone else, he could have used his power to dismiss them immediately and exclude them from the project. However, Jiang Ye was different. If Xu Daoyang took this action and Jiang Ye complained to Young Master Gong, it would be extremely damaging for him

So he controlled his impatience and called Jiang Ye. However, on hearing Jiang Ye's voice, Xu couldn't contain his anger and immediately blew up at him on the phone. Although he didn't want to deal directly with Jiang Ye, as his immediate superior, Xu Daoyang wasn't afraid

"Manager Xu? Forget it, I'm not going." As soon as he heard the other part, Jiang Ye naturally recognized Xu as his department manager. Last night, the reason Jiang Ye was so tired was because he had spent all day finalizing and checking this project

However, at that moment, he could only think of one thing: sleep. He wasn't even aware of what he was saying. Besides, he was already planning to leave the company, so he wasn't too worried

When Xu Daoyang heard this, he was so furious that the veins in his face were about to explode. He was about to shout into the phone to scold Jiang Ye when he heard a beep, indicating that the call had been terminated on the other end of the line

"Jiang Ye, you bastard, if I don't fire you today, my surname won't be Xu!" Xu Daoyang roared in anger, frightening the other members of the department, who lowered their heads and thought to themselves what Jiang Ye had done to provoke this demon today

Some were eager to witness the spectacle that was about to unfold, others jeered, some felt sorry, but most just hurled silent curses. Jiang Ye, relying on the power he had as a follower of Young Master Gong, always coerced them into doing the most difficult jobs in his place. Now, they were eager to see his downfall. No one dared to offend him directly, but now that someone had taken the initiative, everyone was eager to see what would happen next.

Of course, in most people's opinion, Xu Daoyang wasn't much better than Jiang Ye; it was a dogfight. No matter who won, they would be happy to see the loser suffer. Even those who had no personal grudge against Jiang Ye felt sorry for him for getting into trouble just today

If it had been any other day, Xu Daoyang might not have been able to do anything against Jiang Ye. However, today was the day of the presentation to the board of directors. As soon as Xu Daoyang opened his mouth and started hurling his criticisms at Jiang Ye, along with all the poisonous words he could conjure up, even Young Master Gong, i.e. Gong Wenjun might not want to offend the majority of the board in order to protect him

After all, the board of directors has the company's main shareholders, who will have to support him in the future for promotion to chairman. For Gong Wenjun, it wouldn't be worth offending them completely for a mere Jiang Ye, who isn't even his friend, just a simple follower

Jiang Ye, at this point, went back and finally managed to sleep. He didn't know what would happen at the company and he would probably be fired. Even if he knew, he wouldn't care, as he was already planning to resign. But with his petty personality, as soon as he finds out what Xu Daoyang has done, he will probably take revenge

He doesn't think that just because he will soon be able to reach a level that Xu Daoyang could never imagine, that he will easily forgive him for not being on the same level as him. In the future, Xu Daoyang will probably regret today, when he provoked this vengeful demon
