Distress Call

Adam meets his old university crush in a high-end restaurant and discovers her doing something unimaginable; trying to jump off the building. He manages to take her home and tie her down, in case she tries to do it again. However, when she wakes up, he discovers she was much different than the person she was while they were in university. Filled with renewed hope, he pursues her again and this time, he won't take no for an answer. Enter a serial killer into the equation, you know there's going to be drama. Warning; lots of angst and psychological elements but is still a refreshing read. There are also elements of capture so if you're sensitive to that, don't read too much meaning into it. Hope you enjoy it

Chapter 8

"Adam, calm down. Relax. You're okay, you're fine"

"But you're not..."

"I'm fine. If you don't relax then both of us are going to be in a much worse shape. Just calm down a bit. Take a deep breath, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale"

She had him do a calming breathing exercise for a few minutes till he was totally calm.

"Are you okay now?"

"I'm fine"

"Good. Have you had breakfast?"

"I haven't"

"Go eat and get ready. I'm going to take you somewhere"

"What about you?"

"Yeah, that's right. Take off the chains. I can't bathe like this"

Adam's eyes lingered on the chain and Giselle could feel the intense hesitation he had.

"I'm not going to run away, at least not now. Take it off"

Adam took off the chains but left the small ring that was connected to her skin. She stared at it and shrugged. Compromises like those were easy. She climbed off the bed and felt pain shooting into her spine from her leg when it touched the ground. She hissed and cradled the leg. Adam saw all of this.

"Do you need me to carry you?"

Giselle smirked at his suggestion despite herself.

"And bathe me? Are you that eager to see me naked?"

"No, I didn't mean... I'm sorry"

Giselle chuckled and entered the bathroom. Adam sat for a few minutes before leaving for the dining room.

Seeing the way he acted the day before, his staff were immensely worried about him but couldn't say anything because of the frightening look in his eyes. He was always so kind and respectful that it shocked them to see him like that. It was only when he requested breakfast that they calmed down. They were really prepared to tie him down and feed it to him.

Many of them couldn't help blaming the woman he brought home. It was only when it came to her that Adam lost his head. They hoped he would get over her soon. Little did they know she wished the same thing.

Giselle waited for him in the living room and they walked together to the garage when they were done. The vast array of cars stunned her before she picked the black benz she was remotely familiar with and asked for the keys. Adam gave her a strange expression.

"You're driving?"

"Of course. You don't know where we're going"

"I could use GPS"

"I'm already doing that. Besides, you're not in the right frame of mind. I don't want to die by car accident. It's a comedic cliched way to die"

Adam couldn't tell her that her sense of humor was strange and morbid. She drove out the garage and onto the road after plotting her destination on the GPS. Adam could only watch her expertly maneuver the car like she was familiar with it.

It took over two hours to reach their destination, a small clinic on the outskirts of the city. Giselle found a place to park and they both entered the clinic. She walked up to the front desk, Adam walking behind like an obedient puppy following its owner.

"Miss Cheadle, good morning. It's so unusual to see you here outside of your normal days"

"I brought someone here. Is Dr. Monroe in?"

"He is yet to report in but he should be here soon. Do you need me to put something down for you?"

"Yes. The patient's name is Adam Denver. Adam, come fill the remaining details"

Adam answered all the questions until the one about why he was there. He didn't know why she brought him there. Giselle answered that for him.

"Obsessive Love Disorder and Mild OCD"

"Ah, is he okay right now? Do we need to prescribe an antimanic?"

"The mildest medication. I managed to calm him using hypnosis but there's no telling when he would erupt again"

"I'll get one right away. The two of you can have a seat"

"Thank you Nurse Philip"

The two of them went to sit while Adam was experiencing mild shock. One, he had no idea it was so easy and casual to tell his symptoms to another person.

The second stemmed from the fact that Giselle had correctly diagnosed him despite meeting him for only four days. He hung his head and chuckled. Beside him, Giselle was alarmed.

If you know you’re sick, get help immediately. Letting it out is better than keeping it all in.

Also, Giselle’s calmness is what I hope for my whole life, lol.

I’m gonna use hypnosis on you now.
