Chapter 3

It was three when James left his office he stopped off at the jewelers in the next town, which was human. He had ordered a simple diamond and emerald necklace and matching earring; he picked them up and headed home. "Blair," he called walking in. There was no answer, he walked towards their bedroom, "Blair," he called again. He opened the door and there she was sitting at her vanity, looking threw her jewelry. She didn't even acknowledge him, he stared at her for a moment. Her black hair pulled up into a curly bun with tendrils around her face, a diamond and emerald headband that use to be his mom's adorned her head. When she stood, his breath escaped him. Blair was usually dressed very simply, but this dress showed off her fit waist, her beautiful neck and arms. Blair swallowed hard, clearly uncomfortable, "You look gorgeous," he nearly whispered with a smile. Blair smoothed her dress, "Thank you, I tried to tell your mom it was too much," she began. He walked over to her, "It's perfect," he said, "Your perfect," he added, cupping her cheek. She leaned into his touch, "James, I," she began but he stopped her. "No, I'm sorry. I should've dealt with this months ago, but it's done," he told her. "It's done, what does that mean?" She asked furrowing her brow. "It doesn't matter, tonight is about you," he told her staring into her blue-green eyes. "I got you something for tonight," he said remembering the jewelry. He pulled the box from his pocket and handed it to her. Blair opened the box excitedly, "James," she gasped. She looked up at him, "You shouldn't have," she added. "Do you not like them?" He asked. "No, they're beautiful, but it wasn't necessary," she answered. "Well, my mother got the headband when she was luna, and now you have necklace and earrings," he replied taking out the necklace gently and placing it around her neck. He clasped it and kissed his mark on her shoulder, Blair breathed in, closing her eyes as he did. "I love you, Blair," he whispered against her ear. She turned to face him, "I love you too," she murmured before kissing him.

Blair pulled back, "You better go get ready," she ordered. "We could just stay here," he offered with a wink. She smiled, "We should probably make an appearance," she suggested. James sighed, "Fine," he said and went to the bathroom to shower. Blair put on the earring, but something caught her eye at the sliding glass door in their bedroom. She looked over, but it was so dark she couldn't really see anything. Blair flipped the outside light on and gasped there was alpha Tim. Blair was frozen she couldn't speak or even seem to breath; he slid open the door, his eye locked on hers, and held a rag to her face till she passed out and he dragged her out of the room and into the woods. James got out of the shower and went straight to the closet to put on his suit, he whistled as he fixed his green tie and placed his cufflinks his father gave him at his alpha ceremony. The doorbell rang, "Blair, can you get that?" He called walking back to the bathroom to comb his hair just right. The doorbell rang again, "Blair," he called peering into the bedroom. He walked out and didn't see her, he walked down the hall and opened the door, "Hey," Ben said walking in and hugging James. "Hey," James greeted hugging him back. "Welcome," James greeted Jen as she came in behind Ben. "We wouldn't have missed this," she replied. "Where my sister," Ben said excited as he walked farther into the house. "Luna Blair," he called, his alpha voice booming through the house. "I don't know, she was in the bedroom when I went to take a shower," James said walking to Blair's office. "Blair," he called opening the door. The room was dark, she wasn't there. He went to the spare room, but it was empty. James went back into their bedroom, "Blair," he called a little more frantic. That's when he saw the slider open, he walked out to the backyard and called for her again. Ben and Jen walked into the bedroom, "James?" Ben called. "She's gone," James said coming back in. "She wouldn't just leave," Ben answered walking to the door. Ben and James sniffed the air, a late spring breeze gusted, with a hint of rain and that's when they caught it. Blair's faint scent, but it was mixed with someone else, someone they didn't easily recognize.

James instantly got on the phone with Erik and Ryan, "We need a search party, NOW," James roared. He and Ben shifted and ran off trying to follow her scent, they raced following it to the southern boarder of the evergreen pack. James let out a mournful howl hoping Blair would hear him and howl back, but he was only met with silence. James whimpered breathing in the last bit of Blair's scent that was on the air, but Ben knew it was gone. Whoever had taken her had masked her scent and it wasn't someone they knew. The ran back to the house, James reluctantly, not wanting to leave the last place he smelled her. "What happened?" Duncan asked as they shifted back. "I don't know, she was in our room when I went to take a shower," James repeated still in shock. "Who took her?" Maggie asked meekly. "We don't recognize the scent," Ben shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck angerily. James stared at the backyard, like Blair did so many times, "We'll find her," Ben said. "We need the drones," James said turning to walk to his room. "It's dark James, the drones won't find anything," Duncan told him sadly. "Then I'll send out an army, we tracked her scent to the southern boarder, every warrior goes south and," James began getting angrier and angrier. "And then what? Search and ransack each pack like human police," Duncan asked. "What am I supposed to do, sit here and do nothing," James nearly yelled at his father. "No, my boy, but there isn't much we can do without any clues, and we can't get any in the dark," Duncan told him gently. James sat down, his head in his hands, trying not to cry. He had no clues of who took Blair, why they took her, or what they were doing to her.
