Discarded.

Note: I've discarded the book. Although I had planned a bit ahead, the plot would just not make sense in the long term. I'm going to start a new novel, this one will be more planned through. I'm very grateful for the comments and collections on this one, but it would just not make it in the long term. Humanity has always had the blessings of their god, however when that god died things changed. The last surviving angels descended and decided to give their blessings to the world, allowing people to go beyond the human souls' limits. Follow Edwin as he fights for survival and conquest in this fallen world, in the last remaining empire. Disclaimer: This is my first novel, English is not my native language and I apologize for any writing/spelling mistakes in advance.

Colosseum.

The eleven year old Edwin found himself in front of a huge and ancient Colosseum. Surrounding it, was a vast wilderness filled with beasts of all kinds. Refocusing on the Colosseum, he noticed it's true size. It surpassed the vastness of a mountain, as if made for giants.

Awed by it's size he continued to stare. Four years had passed and most children had gotten used to their weapons of choice, as well as their abilities. They would have received their first metal weapons tomorrow, but Edwin suddenly found himself in front of the huge Colosseum.

Edwin was about to investigate and moved forward. That was until he stumbled and the world started twisting. The world twisted, and moved on it's own, and brought Edwin to the huge Colosseum's entrance. A faint silver line indicated for Edwin to enter through the opened iron gates. Edwin took the hint, and moved to the ancient and overgrown entrance.

Edwin entered the room and the doors immediately snapped shut. A collar appeared around his neck as panic appeared on Edwin's face. He had read about them, in the ancient past nobles had used them to assure their retainers loyalty. It was a slave collar. Until someone of superior skill interfered with it he was under his master's complete mercy.

He scratched at the onyx-colored in panic and desperation. He wanted to live, not be someone else's pet. He scratched until his fingers became bloodied and his nails snapped. He had never experienced such an intensive pain before, not in his mind and not in his fingers. His panic overwhelmed the pain, and he tried different methods to pry it away.

In the end nothing worked, and he slowly calmed down as hours passed. Sitting still he was finally able to calm down. He inspected the room, and discovered it to be an armory. He didn't notice at first, since his eyes hadn't adjusted to the dim torches of the room.

''Finally done with the weeping?'' A cold and cynical voice whispered into his mind.

Confused, he looked around. There was no other person in this room, he was completely alone. Not even the beasts' screams on the outside couldn't penetrate the thick walls.

''You're my bitch now, my entertainment. There's need for you to be confused.'' The voice said with malice. ''Pick a weapon and head through the next door.'' The voice continued, as another iron door started to open.

Edwin nodded in resignation. He was smart, he knew that the only thing he could do for now was to move as instructed. If he didn't, a mind-wreaking pain would appear and control his mind at some point.

Edwin moved and picked up a bastard sword. He was trained in the long-sword, but an adult's longs-word wouldn't help him. The bastard sword had a two handed grip, and was about the right size for him.

He moved to the door, before remembering something. He moved to the corner where armors were stored. He spent around 30 minutes and picked different pieces of armor, until the set was light enough for him to move with ease, and strong enough to protect him from stray attacks.

''Smart-ass, are you finally done with your preparation?''

Edwin nodded and moved to the door. Since he couldn't change his circumstances he would have to adapt and overcome.

The blinding light of day entered his eyes.

His eyes finally adjusted, and he found himself in a vast arena. It was big enough for a full-scale war, clearly being to vast just for the purpose of entertainment.

''Do not dare underestimate a demigod.'' The voice once again said, this time a hint of amusement in his voice. ''From now on, you will be my entertainment, oh fated one. You seem to have touched a string of fate, bringing you here.'' He explained.

''You're going to entertain me from now on, you will fight against all kinds of beasts.'' The voice said. ''I'm going to show you my face just once, in face of your ancestor.''

A white-haired man suddenly appeared in front of Edwin. His long hair flowed in the wind, as the silver strings of fate coiled around him with a silver luster. The man had eyes all around his body, on his arms, legs and even his face wasn't spared.

''They call me Hundred-Eyes, the cursed of sight. I see everything, and comprehend only little.'' Hundred-Eyes said.

Edwin was disturbed at what he saw. He couldn't focus on him, no matter how hard he tried. only when the cursed wanted him to, could Edwin comprehend his sight.

''I will start off weak, and slowly work upwards... I don't want my toy to break, after all.'' He said with a cold voice of anticipation. ''I will spice it up a bit. If you can defeat my hundred favorite beasts of a matching rank to you, I will have a little something for you...''

And so the bloodbath began.

His first battle was against a fairly common copper-rank creature, it was a Nekk. The Nekk were sickly blue lizard-like short men that had nothing but their claws to fend with. Their complete designation according to the Index was:

___

Nekk - copper rank - essence rank I.

'Common creatures found along rivers and lakes. Single individuals pose meager threat from Advanced class and onward, lethal in groups or against lower ranked individuals. Beware of claws.'

Reproductive rate: Very fast.

Hunter rating: Killing encouraged, 6 copper for rear-fin at all military outposts and offices.

___

Edwin lunged at the creature, violently thrusting his heavy sword forward, but was quickly evaded. The creature took the opportunity, and slashed back. Three lights appeared, like extensions of the Nekk's claws. Edwin couldn't evade and received and injury at his right leg. He took notice of this, and took a more nimble approach. The battle took a while, and Edwin received cuts and gashes all over his body.

He felt elated as the creature fell. He felt so proud of himself, he had killed his first beast even if it was only of copper rank. This elation didn't last, as a giant toad appeared above him, killing him with it's body weight.

''I don't want you to be too happy, it pisses me off.'' The man said with a sneer, as he arrogantly sat on his throne, located at the very front of the arena.
