A Coin

Rako fell to his knees on the ground, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. He watched a flock of birds flying away, unaffected by the spatial distortion, and clenched his fists tightly.

They had been trying for half an hour, and not a single bird had been caught. Something was strange about those birds; even Reyn and Heyla, the fastest and most agile among them, couldn't manage to catch one.

"Ailord, we're just wasting time like this," said Glok, lying on the grass.

"If only someone hadn't released that bird earlier" replied Rako which immediately received a sharp gaze from Glok.

Ailord held his thighs for support as he inhaled deeply. Sweat had soaked his body, causing his black clothing to cling to him. "But those birds are our way back. They're completely unaffected by the spatial distortion, and maybe, by bringing them with us, the spatial distortion won't drag us back to this cursed place."
