New Birth

I remember the long drive to the army barracks, I was buried In thoughts I didn't know what I should anticipate in my new environment. When we finally drove through the gates the first thing that came into mind was "order". Everything was in place, it was a school but it was quiet as if no one was in the environment.

The registration went went smoothly, I was handed a school uniform and directed to the guidance counselors office and after her evaluation I was given two small book containing all the school rules and hostel rules.

I had been hearing of boarding school life style but nothing prepared me for what I witnessed. I thought that the hotel I was assigned to was going to be a large hall with bunk beds and so but to my greatest suprise the hostel was actually a two in one room with a bathroom and a kitchen space (but because students were not allowed to cook the kitchen was stripped of its utensils except for the sink) there was a general bathroom, toilet and tap outside as some of the amenities in the room were bad . In fact the hostel reminded me of the projects in America.

There was also a class system which was divided into JS and SS. The JS students were the juniors from clas 1 to 3 and the SS students were seniors from class 1 to 3.

The administration was headed by the commandant who was a lieutenant Colonel, the AO who was a captain ,other officers and soldiers and the RSM who was a warrant officer. We also had civilian teachers and house masters . However one thing I noticed was that because of the class placement the school was a breeding ground for bullies. Everyone was a bully , everyone bullied those bellow them, you can't even report to the authorities because after reporting you still get bullied and if you do fight back, you get jumped by the seniors class mates.

Because of this I made a mental note to protect myself at all cost.

That night I was introduced to my roommates 2 JS students and three SS students two of those SS students were in the same class as me (SS 1) while the other was in SS 3. My roommates compared to the other students were nicer, maybe it was the fact that I was their roommate.

As usual the bullies got to me and I let the because of the difference in class. After two weeks I couldn't take it any more ,between the drills from the soldiers and trouble from the seniors I became exhausted . I conataplated dropping out several times until I had a bout of enlightenment, why don't I just give people what they want.

I started recruiting junior students to spy on their senior roommates for information all I had to do was to give them some of my provision or reliquish my breakfast or dinner to them. It cost me a lot but it was worth it, by the end of the term 3/4 of the juniors were loyal to me. Even some of my classmates were already incorporated into my organisation. This organisation went ahead to be the boon of my survival till date and elevated me from a normal student to a kind of godfather in the school and led to the birth of the name "Fox"

please comment your thoughts so I can know if any improvements can be made

and I believe it gets more interesting as it progresses
